Ok–I just couldn’t resist… I had to go shopping again.Ā I needed to go to CVS to roll some ECB’s –so I figured I might as well do a Publix run too š My new totalĀ OOP is $37.52 for OVER $460 worth of groceries. My new savings percentage is 92%.Ā I still have at least one more trip planned but that will go on next week’s totals!Ā Have I toldĀ youĀ all that I LOVE PUBLIX!!!
I also did a CVS run and spent $2.30 from a gift card to get over $50 worth of stuff including four Coke 12-packs…so my overall spending/saving ratio this week is phenomenal.Ā
This may be the best week at Publix–EVER!!Ā I have done several trips and have several more planned to take advantage of the INCREDIBLE deals this week.Ā I am posting my totals as of yet. My shopping week is Monday to Sunday…so I may be back before this week is over–I haven’t decidedĀ š
I know there are going to beĀ tons of questions about how I managed such a low out of pocket total.Ā So–here is some info: my stores accept competitor coupons including Target and Food Lion, I can double coupons, this week I had TONS of meat coupons that I traded for -including $3 off pork (no other requirements), $2 off meat WYB Kraft, $1 off beef WYB A.1., etc…Ā I also have access to several computers–so I can printĀ MANYĀ internet printablesĀ (yep–I have already replaced the ink cartridge once this week!). I also used $5 off $50 coupons for each transaction! SO…drum roll please—I spent $28.58 for everything! My total should have been almost $300–so I saved 90% by using coupons! I have stocked the freezer with over $50 worth of meat and have more coupons to use! I also received my $2 off produce WYB Kraft coupons in the mail today…so I will get lots of produce sometime before the sale ends!

How did you do this week?
I had a great trip this week, as well. Not as high of a % as you, but still great considering my store doesn’t do Target Q’s and only doubles to $.50. I did want to let you know (on your next trip out), I was able to purchase Dixie plates for .50/ea AND I had a coupon (but the on the plate packages there was a peelie for the same) for Buy 2 Dixie plates, Get free Dixie napkins up to $3.50. The Dixie napkins are advantage buy this week for the 300 count being $2.99 and the coupon for the free napkins still rang up for the $3.50 off regardless. Great deal for free napkins! ANYHOO – thought you’d might like to know that if you didn’t already!
Renee you must be a mind reader…I was going to post this deal in a bit! My store is out of the napkins but I am hoping to do the transaction and get an IOU for the napkins.
I had a great week to. I have a picture of everything and a list. My oop was $62.71 and my Savings were $222.13! I love Publix too!
Great Job!
Just curious on which of your stores considers Target and food lion competitors. Is there even a food lion within 3 hours?:-)
Hey Stephanie
I am in the BOONIES…my closest Publix (any grocery store for that matter) is 12 miles away and there are two Food Lions within 15 miles from me. The Publix in Villa Rica accept both as competitor coupons.
Awesome job Michelle. I only wish my stores would take target coupons but NOOO…
I have been reading through some of the totals and am finding that people are getting overages. Is this common at Publix? I have had coupons flat out refused because they were more than purchase price.
My store doesn’t do doubles and limits Internet printable to under $5 (so no free pork w/ Kingsford) and no IPs for BOGOs. They do take Target and Food Lion, however. Yesterday I had an OOP of $31.26 and savings of $134.58 for a savings of 81.64% (if I did my math right). A set of my Kraft Mayo BOGO didn’t ring up right, so I’m going back today to get that fixed and pick up 4 more Dr. Pepper 8 packs for $1.99 total IF they’ll let me use an MQ with the Publix Q- that policy seems to change each visit! š
Stephanie…hmmm?? I know each store has the right to make their own policy– but the store is reimbursed for MQ’s. Some store will adjust the coupon so that the product is free… BUT I wouldn’t think it would be smart for a store to refuse a coupon’s use. You might want to ask your manager the rational for this decision. Some people say it is illegal to adjust a coupon–I do not know if this is actually true. I do know that stores have to follow specific guidelines to ensure that they are reimbursed–just as we have to follow rules to use them. It may be worth a call or email to the manager for clarification.
If you are combining coupons (MQ and store or MQ and competitor) then you should not get overage (unless of course your store allows). The way I understand it is that Publix allows these coupons to be stacked as an incentive for you to shop at their store–but this stacking is done so at a small loss. I never expect overage but I will gladly accept it if the store allows.
Awesome!!! As for the $off meat and produce q’s that you’ve been trading for, were those tearpads? Just trying to figure out if I might have any of them!
Yep–I believe they were tearpads š
Yes those $off meat and produce are tearpad coupons. I scored a ton of produce ones at Food Lion here in South Carolina.
What forums do you use for coupon trading? I’ve been searching for a good way to start coupon trading but haven’t found anything yet.
Just got back from Publix with a ton of food. I was lucky enough to find $3 off pork tearpads on a jaunt through Kroger yesterday. My haul today was
$17.10 and saved $94.48 – 84% savings. Here’s what I got:
Dixie plates x 1
Reach Dental Floss x2
Kraft Singles x2
Mueller Noodles x2
Phila. Cream Cheese tubs x2
Heluva Good Dip x2
Domino Sugar
1 lb apples
Covergirl lipgloss x1
J&J gauze pads x 4
Edy’s Ice Cream x1
Aunt Jemima breakfast entree x 2
Pop Tarts x 6 (hated to let my Qs expire at the end of the month)
Kraft BBQ Sauce x1
Kraft Salad Dressing x2
Lay’s Potato Chips x1
Oscar Meyer Hotdogs x2
A1 Sauce x1
Xtra Lean Ground Beef 1 lb
Pork Ribs
2 Pork Steak
Pkg of Pork Loin Chops
1 Sirloin Steak
I had coupons for everything except the Lay’s chips, but on that one it was buy a bag, get $1 off produce. The A1 display had a $1 off beef Q on it and the cheese had $1 off ground beef when you bought 2 pkgs. I used 3 of the $3 off pork Q’s. Each package ended up being .49 or less. They also took $5.50 in Walgreeen’s RR’s too!
The cashier didn’t seem thrilled about so many Qs and wasn’t sure how to handle some of them, but she asked and she was polite to me. The bagger was super-impressed š
Let me first say that I love your website and I love coupons!! I’ve been addicted for about 2 years! I started on couponmom.com and just found your site and it’s even better! I just went to Pulbix and got $210 and only paid $67. The customer service person had to come over and override my coupons after the first hundred. How do you not cause so much attentions at the store? Everyone was wondering how I did it and I told them about your website. But the customer service person didn’t seem happy!! It would take a long time to list all the deals, but it was great! My best deal was on Dixie plates! They were on sale for $1.50 and I had a 50 cent coupon they doubled, so I got them for 50 cents. But the best is that they had a coupon on the plates for free napkins when you buy 2 plates!!! I bought 6 plates and 3 napkins for only $3.00!!!! Also the .60 cent overage was great on the dentastix too!!! Thanks for a great webiste!!! I could talk about coupons so much it’s crazy!!!!
Reagan
GREAT job Amy!!! I am jealous of all your tearpads!!
Reagan–My store was out of the plates and the napkins…so I am hoping they will be back in stock soon or I will end up with a rain check! Everyone at my stores know me and if they are busy they will open a register for me and a manager (or someone with an override code) will ring my transaction to make it a bit easier.
Daphne–check out http://www.hotcouponworld.com –you will have to start as a trader in training but the folk on that site are the BEST!! I would HIGHLY recommend you join and look into the trade forums. I can ALWAYS get what I need! Much easier than paying an arm and a leg on Ebay and the like!!
I am a new shopper in this light and I am learning alot from you! Thank you
I just want to throw something out there being in the business. The advid
couponer with several coupons on the same product, Please be considerate
to not wipe the shelf out. Talk to management and they will be happy to
order the product in for you. This also helps with transporting. We must
also be considerate of the others who do not use coupons and just think
the store is incompitent in their ordering.
Thank you for letting me say my peace.. Happy Couponing:) š
Amber –I think most people who are “extreme couponers” are typically MORE considerate than those who are not. Just like coupon abusers–there will always be the few that spoil it for everyone else.
The topic of shelf clearing is a mit murky–I think it depends on situation. If there are 3 of an item and I take the last 3 would I be considered a shelf clearer? If there are 100 of an item and I take 90 am I a shelf clearer?? Which scenario is worse?
No one will know another person’s circumstance or situation–so it is up to that person to determine their own moral compass. I think it is equally important not to make assumption without fully understanding the whole situation.
I have been at this a while so unless someone openly brags about clearing shelves–I really don’t care or worry about it too much I look at it as–I can always get a raincheck…I have other stores…I can come back if it is really that important AND there will ALWAYS be another sale! Shelf clearers just aren’t high on my priority list of things to worry about š
Asking mgmt to order large quantities is a great idea…my stores do it for me without blinking an eye! Thanks for reminding everyone!
