UPDATE 6/8/09
APPARENTLY CVS PULLED THE DEAL AS NOW THE PROMO ON THEIR SITE LISTS THE PRICE BUT NOW HAS NO MENTION OF THE $5 ECB PER PACK! SO THIS WILL BE HIT OR MISS DEPENDING ON YOUR STORE…IF YOU HAVE THE PRINTED COPY FROM THIS WEEKEND IT MIGHT BE WORTH A TRY??
Since my new iheartsavingmoney site is not up and running quite yet I thought I would tell you guys about a deal I am thrilled about!!! While this does not pertain to Publix…it is a fantastic deal for those who have little ones in diapers. I had a HUGE stockpile of diapers and am now down to 5 packs…my 21 month old shows no signs of impending potty training–so looking at the measly 5 packs…I started getting nervous!
Looks like I can restock my supply thanks to CVS. If you go HERE you can see and print the coupon. Starting tomorrow CVS will have Pampers Diapers Jumbo sized packs on sale for $8.99 and you earn a $5 ECB for each pack!!! There are several $2 coupons out and a $1/1 in the new P&G insert…so after coupon and ECB each pack of diapers will be $2-$3. I spoke to a member of CVS customer service and she indicated that you will need to bring in a printed copy of the online advertisement and there is a 3 limit per card. I love using ECB’s to get things that I need since it does not cut into my weekly budget!
***YOUR ECB’S WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY PRINT…YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE STORE PRINT YOUR ECB’S MANUALLY. CS SAID THEY WILL HONOR THE AD-JUST MAKE USRE YOU BRING A COPY IN CASE THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THE DEAL. I HAD NO PROBLEMS GETTING ALL OF MY ECB’S PRINTED THIS MORNING 🙂
Hi Michelle,
Just for clarification.. You can buy 3 packs of diapers for $8.99 a piece, with a $5 ECB. I never shop at CVS, so I’m not familiar with these. Do you get to use it then or on a later visit? Also, if I do have to use it on a subsequent visit, would it be valid for the same week to puchase more diapers? Sorry for all the questions, I’m just a little confused on the ECB process. Thanks!!!
Hey Lauren –each pack is $8.99 and you get a $5 Extra Care Buck for each pack…
You earn an ECB after you make the purchase so you will use it on any subsequent purchase (it can be a right then in a new transaction or the next time you go to CVS). You could buy a pack of diapers and turn around and use the ECB on another pack of diapers in a separate transaction. You can use ECB’s and MQ’s together. If you do not have any ECB’s to start you would probably want to buy one pack at a time–to minimize your OOP.
You might do something like this if you do not have ECB’s to roll.
Buy 1 pack of Pampers @ $8.99
Use $2/1 MQ
Total OOP $6.99 + tax ——-EARN $5 ECB
Do another transaction:
1 pack of Pampers @ $8.99
use $2/1 MQ
use $5 ECB
OOP =$1.99 + tax——–EARN $5 ECB
Another Transaction:
1 pack of Pampers @ $8.99
use $2/1 MQ
use $5 ECB
OOP = $1.99 + tax——– EARN $5 ECB to spend later or on something else you need 🙂
For those three transactions you will have 3 packs of diapers and you will have spent $11 + tax OOP and still have a $5 ECB to spend later.
I “play the drugstore games” I currently have $40 + ECB’s on one card and $15+ on another. ECB’s do not expire for a month–so that gives you plenty of time to “roll” them into other deals. ECB’s are like monopoly money to me–I use them to get things I need for free without impacting my weekly budget. It is the really good deals that make playing the game worth it! Since I have some ECB’s to roll–I will be able to get my diapers basically FREE –since I will be using ECB’s to pay. I will just pay the tax using a gift card!
Michelle,
I have heard that all Kmart stores in Georgia will be doubling coupons up to $2 starting Sunday. Is that true? Have you heard anything about this deal?
Thanks!
Emilis
I called 6 stores around me and non are participating…the last store I spoke with said there had been a misprint and no GA stores will be participating?? SO–if anyone has received confirmation PLEASE let me know which stores are doing Super Doubles 🙂
Thanks for the heads-up. I’m putting together a gift for a friend’s daughter who just had a baby and have purchased everything either with CVS ECB’s or WAGS RRs. It’s going to end up being close to a $50 gift and I’ll have paid under $10 OOP.
Thanks for the response.
Do you know how often the Georgia stores participate? I have seen Kroger triple and Kmart double, but never in my area! I have only been couponing since March though, so maybe I have just missed it!
Thanks Michelle!!! My younger is allergic to Pampers, but I am excited about a good diaper deal nonetheless.
Michelle,
Thanks for such a thorough explanation!! It helped a ton!! Looks like I’ll be visiting CVS this week too!
My ECB’s didn’t print. I have to go back to talk to the girl, but from what I have read, this is very common right now.
My ECBs didn’t print either.
Went to CVS as well this am and the ECB’s were not printing… the manager is off today and they said they would call me once they fixed the problem!! He said other customers had come in this morning as well…… Way to go CVS!
Hi Michelle,
You say the savings should be between $2-$3. Can the PG and the other coupon be used at the same time? I am a little new to the whole coupon world.
I went to CVS and the ECB’s did not print. The manager gave me a hard time…almost making feel as I was trying to rip them off! He was willing to do one $5.00 ECB as “a favor” but would not let me do separate transactions. He said I was the first person trying to do this today. This was my first time shopping CVS using the ECB and I am not sure I want to deal with that! Hope everyone has better luck!!!!
Michelle,
Did they take the ECB’s off the website? I can’t seem to find it. Thanks for your help.
I noticed that the wording about $5 ECB is gone off of the website this morning also. I was lucky enough to print the page last night though, so I am still going to try to go do the deal today and see if they will honor it. I wonder if it was a mistake???
They have pulled the ad and according to the CS person I spoke with earlier they will NOT be honoring the deal after this morning. So if you waited to buy them- it’s too bad so sad. BAD CVS!! This is terrible business. Luckily I was in the city (45 minutes from me) where the closest CVS is yesterday. I normally only go on Fridays. I am so glad I happened to be there and went ahead and bought mine since they have decided to pull the ad and not honor the original deal.
Shame on you CVS.
I read somewhere on ThriftyMama that the original ad was not on CVS’s website. They decided to honor the deal until this morning at 10:00am. Not sure what happened. Might not have been CVS’s fault.
I agree Brandy– I hate when companies just up and change things at their whim! I guess it is their prerogative…but it is not customer friendly in the least!
The ad was on their site–it was on the main page. A click took you to cvstoday…actually the link still takes you there–there is just no mention of the ECB now 🙁
Michelle,
Where do you save on diapers? I have a 10 month old and I see $1 off coupons hear and there but how do you get to where you stock pile (when CVS is not running this kind of deal)?
