When Amanda over at A Few Short Cuts emailed me about her idea for the week-I was very pleased. So much in fact that I blew off my dinner I had planned last night and made a Shepherd’s Pie 🙂
Amanda has outdone herself this time! I love to make Shepherd’s Pie for several reasons. It is quick, my entire family will eat it (a few complaints from the 3 year old…but he will at least eat some of it), and it is very inexpensive to make. All of that combined make for my kind of meal. I think you all know by now I love meals where can cook once and eat twice. Well, Amanda had the great idea to go ahead and make two batches so you would be able to eat one immediately and stick the other in the freezer for a super quick meal down the road! Go HERE to see the recipe and how Amanda is able to make two meals for a little over a dollar per person!
Super job Amanda!
Funny that you posted this! I was scrounging around trying to find a ground beef recipe that I could make with things that I already had in my freezer and pantry. I used a different recipe than this, but last night we had shepherd’s pie and the family loved it!
Pictures are up! This is sooooo good! IT tastes like it came from a restaurant! Perfect if you are having company!
Hey,
The Shepherd’s Pie looks yummy but I think that Amanda’s math is wrong. I added up the cost and the $13.18 is per pie and not the grand total for two pies. Check my math because I could be wrong. Regardless, I’ll still try the recipe!
Oooops! I think that Amanda just took out the cost of the meat that was purchased but not used for this recipe. I see where she is getting her totals now. Sorry! 🙂
Hi Christy. I did just take the cost for the 3 lbs. You could buy 9 lbs ground beef or other meat to meet the $20 total before coupons. So, I decided just to do the price for the 3 lbs. It would cost more if you did not use the FLIP. I was just going for the most cost effective way!
Either way it is a great deal for 2 filling meals!
