This week has been just crazy!! We had a wild start to the week as my area received 18 inches of rain overnight!! It was a pretty scary storm and I am sure you all have seen the very sad pictures of families who have lost so much! We were very lucky as our only issue was a loss of utilities for a few days! I will have to take detours for a while as many of the roads I typically travel are completely washed away in several places.
My husband was home for several days as the main interstate was shut down due to the flooding–so that really threw me off. I never did any “big” shopping but still managed to spend a fair amount of money (for me). I did two things that I tell people to avoid–I did not make a weekly menu and I went shopping without a list! Now I know many of you will look at my total and think I am crazy–but the amount I spent out of pocket was high for what I could typically bring home for that amount. This week I spent $26.92 for $180 worth of products. That means I saved 85% this week! As you can see I really only bought a couple of staples (milk, bread & butter) and the makings for Friday night pizza. I saved a chunk as I would have spent at least half of my total had I had the pizza delivered.
This week is a perfect example of why I stockpile! I did not need to shop this week–the things that I did purchase were not absolutely necessary. I had plenty in my pantry and freezer to cover our meals this week! Our county is still under a water boil advisory–there was a huge rush for water at the local grocery stores and the supplied were depleted quickly! All I’ve had to do is pull a few more cases out of my stockpile to cover our needs. I have a big box to donate and thanks to the drugstores I can make a huge school supply donation to the School Box this weekend!

How did you do the $15 in coupons on the huggies diapers?
Hey Kim
I had a free diaper voucher from last month’s Rite Aid Single Check Rebate and used a $2/1 MQ + a $2/1 Rite Aid Q on the other pack–I totally forgot to color code my list to show that several of the items were from Walmart, Wags & Rite Aid–I’ll fix it in a bit 🙂
