I’m kind of glad it was a slow week. We had so much trouble with Publix this week. We were told we were not allowed to purchase more than 4 packs of sausage and 4 tubes of toothpaste. I had a manager argue with me about what a “purchase” is and a cashier that laid out EVERY single item in the bagging area and then placed each coupon on top. She would make sure all of those were right and then do 10 more items. It took almost 45 minutes to check us out. I think we will be looking for a new publix. I had to give them so much stuff to put back and wasted a ton of coupons. Hopefully this next week away from Publix will spark that love again.
Liz, where were you? Our store has been getting picky in New Hope.
Hi Liz, I had a bad experience with one of the Publix stores in our area recently, too. I went to the Publix website and wrote a couple of complaints to them. Within a week, I had the store manager calling me and offering an apology. Also, I received a gift card for my trouble. Like you, the cashier was very rude to me over coupons. My advice to you is to write a complaint to Publix corporate, because they do care, and find another Publix.
Wow. I would send a letter for that type of experience. I go to Publix in Woodstock GA and it depends on the cashier if they give me a hard time. However I bought 28 packs of sausage, 4 toothpaste, and 7 snuggle. I would have asked them to show me where it says that the limit is four. Publix prides themselves on their shopping experience. I would let someone know about that.
I had trouble with the one on baker rd acworth. I am planning on changing to woodstock its just so much more of a drive, but I guess to save money you do what you have to. I called customer relations off the web site and they had the area manager (I think thats what he said he was) call me. He said everything I pretty much already knew and told me that he lets the store manager make the coupon policy. ( I was upset because they keep changing it from one week to the next). Woodstock store when I called said they take all the coupons as long as it is not $$ of a purchase or a store out of state.
Quiana, have you tried to take BJ’s coupons I was told that they take them but have not got to that store yet. What do they say is THEIR policy. Is that the one on Town Lake Parkway?
After my experience today at the New Hope,Ga Publix I think I am “officially” done with that store!!They have been giving me such a hard time about coupons!! Today,I got one of the “snooty” cashiers I don’t care for & some of my IP’s weren’t scanning! I only had 6,but he just huffed & puffed about having to manually enter them & then he told me they weren’t suppose to take any Q’s that didn’t scan, but he would this time!! Like he was doing me a big favor! There Q policy seems to change with the wind too!!I’ve gone to the 7 Hills store several times,it’s further away, but they r so nice! They actually appreciate ur business!I’ve also been to the Lost Mtn. & West Marietta stores & they’re even worse!I’ve had several people tell me they’ve had the same problem with the New Hope store! 🙁
Oh wow…I’ve been to that store on Baker Rd in Acworth. Not a good experience for me either! I’ve never gone back.
MonaLisa & Jo. There are actually (2) Publix’s on Baker Rd. I go to the Publix on Baker/Cowan and rarely have an issue with coupons. There are a few cashiers that I steer clear of, as they get snippy about coupons, but most of the cashiers are rather nice.
The Publix on Baker/Jiles is HORRIBLE with coupons.
regarding the Ritz coupon (buy Ritz, get Crackerfuls for FREE), I know it says “one per person” but I have given them FOUR in one transaction and didn’t have any problem with them taking it.
That was at the store in Evans, GA. I think I will contact corporate tomorrow and see what they say. It was the biggest fiasco I have ever encountered in a grocery store. They actually called the meat manager to see how many packs of sausage he could afford to let go. Crazy! The shelves were totally stocked with those items.. it isn’t like I tried to clear them out. There are 3 other Publix in the area, so hopefully I can find a more coupon friendly one.
Liz,
We are having quantity limits enforced in our area on sale items b/c of cleared shelves. One store in the area.
I have had my share of bad experiences too–I think it comes with the territory. Shake it off! 🙂
Marie, I have been going to Baker/Cowan Rd. Can you tell me what they told you was the policy there? I was using Bj’s coupons and I think they are targeting me because I was using so many. I tried to tell them if I was doing something wrong to tell me. I would have cut back on those so I did not have to be cut off. Most all the cashiers are nice I just think that management is not communicating the policy so the are questiong themselves and us so they dont get in trouble.
I understand the quantity thing and try to not take the last off the shelves. I agree with ordering through manager if you want bulk. I usually dont have more than four of one coupon unless it lets me print more and I really WILL use them. Maybe the stores need to add more to their stock since it seems more people are buying from their stores.
The one in Woodstock I go to is off of Highway 5. I have not tried BJ’s coupons. They take Target however the one on Towne Lake Parkway which is actually closer to the Target wouldnt take them. Everytime I go I always stop by the customer service desk first if I know I am going to purchase a lot of an item and ask them if that is okay. That way by the time I get to the line I usually dont have any problems and it makes the customer service aware of my face since I go atleast twice a week.
Where is the: -$3/5 Manuf Q from Albertson’s Flyer (Quaker)
Is this a regional thing? We got our albertson’s fliers yesterday and there was only meat and cigarette coupons.
I went to a different publix recently (went to the Ponce de Leon Publix in Atlanta near midtown). It was a HORRIBLE experience! They apparently do not even take Whole Foods coupons anymore (even though there is one practically across the street!). And they would not allow me to use ANY coupons that would give overage. I even asked for them to reduce to the amount of the product and they wouldn’t.
Just an FYI to all of the coupon users, Publix doesn’t mind you shopping and using all the coupons that you want. It just makes it EXTREMLY hard to order the right amount of products to satisfy all of your needs. This is why we reserve the right to place quantity limits on products so that everyone gets some of the deals, not just a few of you get all the products. Please understand and work with your managers if you wish to purchase large amounts. We can order them for you if you let us know ahead of time. If you know about a GREAT coupon, tell the managers so that we can order more products to satisfy you needs and demands. I have several couponers that I chat with weekly about the GOOD coupons. Thanks…
The store I go to Smyrna has started putting a limit of 2 deals (4 items) on the BOGO sales. I’m OK with the limits, but it doesn’t really seem to help with the cashiers/coupon issues. I typically go Thursday to make sure I am able to get the deals and then again on Sunday/Monday to take advantage of the Penny item.
I appreciate the manager’s comments above, I wish that were the attitude at all stores. The only time I’ve ever had a terrible experience at Publix was with one of the manager’s at the Publix off Barrett Pky and 41. I happened to stop in because it was on my way and will never go back. Fortunately in the ATL area, we have many stores to choose from.
It’s kind of hard to order ahead of time when we don’t get the ad until right before the sale. It would be nice if someone at Publix would hire a consultant to do the sale match-up before releasing the ad…then the information could be flowed down to the store managers so they’re aware of what items to order extra of and which coupons to expect from shoppers.
I guess I am just blessed in the coupon world with a FABULOUS manager at my Publix!!! I live in Macon and shop at the Bass Road store and the mgr is wonderful. He is always around when I am checking out and asks ME if everything is OK with the coupons check out process!! He is so great!!! If I ever have a coupon problem w/ a cashier he comes right over to straighten it out. We have an understanding that if he changes the policy on what he will and will not accept just to let me know and I will gladly comply as long as it comes from him and not a cashier. I think as with anything communication is the key!!!! Get to know your Publix mgr and stick to one store so they will know you well!!!

I really love my Land O Lakes FL Publix, the one on Collier and St RD 54. They are so awesome and helpful. I love shopping there, the cashiers are friendly and so helpful, they will even go get me rain checks if I need them… They are well stocked and have never given me a hard time with coupons. I do use alot too!
However, I can’t say the same thing for Target. 🙁
I’m so glad I’m not the only one having a lot of trouble using coupons these days. I had a handful of coupons rejected. The manager expected the watermarks to be the same on all of them. I attempted to explain that SmartSource, Coupons Inc, and Redplum do not have the same watermarks, but I lost the argument. The cashier did not even try to scan them but immediately went to the customer service desk with all of my printables.
I hated to do it but I walked away and they had to restock my entire cart of groceries. I called the district manager and spoke with him, but I’ve not seen any result back at the store level yet.
I actually had a great experience at the Lost Mtn. store-West Marietta! I had a raincheck for the Nestle candy from another store! I couldn’t find the candy that had been BOGO & the manager saw me looking around & asked if I needed help! She helped me find it but all they had was 2 of the Crunch. So she let me have the same size bags,in the variety pack, which had Butterfinger-Crunch-BabyRuth because my raincheck was for 5 bags!! Then she said if I just wanted to get the 2 bags, she would re-write the raincheck for the remaining 3!! How nice!! I told her she was the nicest manager I’d ever met!!Her name was Beverly Davis,& I will b writing corporate to let them know how nice she was!!You certainly don’t find that sort of service at the New Hope store!!
I just started using coupons because of grad school and tight funds. I have had pleasant experiences at the nashville stores. The cashiers have been young and all said, “yeah, its a bit of a hassle but i do it too as often as i can”. They understand the need to save money, be frugle and the desire to get good quality products at good prices. Get familiar with a few cashiers and look for them when you check out.
I like the idea of getting to know your manager.
I also had a horrible experience at publix this week, and I walked out telling them to void the entire 200.00 sale, because they wouldn’t take my coupons. They are just getting too picky, and I think in the long run, it is going to hurt them. They need to let the customers know in advance if they are changing their policies regarding coupons. Who ever heard of them not taking a coupon because it didn’t have a picture on it? It clearly had the bar code, manufacturer’s name and address, and the amount, but they needed a picture!!! How ludicrous!
Publix looses money every time we accept a competitor coupon. Where as when we accept manufacture coupons we get reimbursed for every coupon. Publix accepts competitor coupons as a perk for shopping with us. I understand the frustration of not everyone being on the same page. If you ever have any questions ask a manager before you shop and they will be glad to answer any questions you have. Also on the note of large quantities, please let a manager know if you are going to buy a large amount of something that is on sale. Chances are your store gets grocery trucks in multiple times a week. We also loose money with rain checks (we only get reimbursed for the time the product is actually on sale) We want to please our customers but at the same time we still have to run a business and we don’t want to loose money. Just try to understand where Publix is coming from.
Market ground beef is on sale for 1.99 lb at my Publix in Anderson, SC. The market ground is all the trimmings from the steaks and other cuts, so it’s a combo of chuck, sirloin, etc. We love it.
I too have been very frustrated with Publix lately. It depends on the cashier, but I have had some problems with them taking or not taking coupons. I was told that Publix had a “new” coupon policy, however, I still shop their for the big sales, I just don’t get anything else there anymore.
Check out this sweet 2010 nfl playoff schedule I found.
