I will admit I kinda forgot about the new Yellow Advantage Buy flyer that started this past weekend. I posted a sneak peek then forgot to do the match ups! I have completed the match ups for the entire flyer. You can see it HERE or you can click on the Advantage Buy Flyer tab at the top of the site.
I have had a couple of people ask me recently why I post the entire ad/flyers, etc. Well– I post everything because we are all different and have different needs. My idea of a good deal might not be a good deal for another (or vice versa). The fact that Bagel-fuls are $2 and there is a $1/1 coupon that makes each package a buck is of no interest to me as we don’t eat that particular item–but that might be a great price for another person who regularly eats that product.
One of the first things you learn as a couponer is that brand loyalty can get in the way of saving big bucks. While I love the fact that couponing allows me to try new and different foods there are still a few things that I buy whether I have a coupon or not. My kids and I love Ovaltine! Coupons and deals are rare–so when I find a coupon or a sale on Ovaltine…I stock up. I try to keep in mind when I am typing the ads—everybody has their “ovaltine” product 😉
I am curious–what are the items that you all still buy deal or no deal???
Coca Cola Classic! There aren’t a lot of coupons for it, and it’s never a REALLY good deal, but I gotta have it!
Ragu pasta sauce is our “ovaltine”!! My family will only eat the Ragu Meat Flavored. Its a hard flavor to find and most of the places I find it don’t take my coupons.
Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein drink. It’s expensive and I have never seen a coupon for it but I love it and treat myself to it regularly.
I’m a Dr. Pepper addict! Gotta have it – no matter what!
I’m a Dr. Pepper addict! Gotta have it – no matter what! Everyone in my house knows to never, ever take the last cold can of Dr. Pepper – always leave it for Mom!!
Hi Michelle-just thought I’d let you know that there is a Ovaltine Q on the Target website. Thanks for all you do. Your’e a life saver!!
Kefir — it has coupons fairly frequently though, and right now it is an Advantage Buy (-.40). Keeps our guts happy 🙂
NUTELLA 😀
V8 Fusion – my husband has Chrohn’s and this is a great way for him to get fruits and veggies.
Nesquik Powder!! My kids love Chocolate and Strawberry milk!!!!
And MTN Dew and Code Red…. =)
And Michelle, Thank you for doing the match up for the entire ads! I agree with you fully on each person having their own idea of a good deal. And, I happen to LOVE Bagel-fuls!
My husband HAS to have 8 O’Clock coffee. It’s a pain because it is expensive and frustrating that all these coffes go on sale, but he won’t touch them. If I do talk him into getting another one, he just complains all the time, so it’s not worth the hassle. LOL
I HAVE to have a certain type of foundation and hair color. Both have coupons a lot, so I am good!
Ragu is our “ovaltine” in our house. It is the only sauce my husband will eat.
Well, my cat HAS to have the Purina One cat food due to past urinary tract issues. It’s expensive, but costs less than trips to the vet. So, I guess that’s our “ovaltine!”
I also appreciate your including everything! Not too many loyal brands here… thanks to couponing, I found that I wasn’t as choosy as I thought and now buy Skippy or even Peter Pan if the deal is good (but do miss my Jif sometimes)!! And my kids love Toaster Strudel which occasionally goes on sale when a coupon is available… and I gotta have my Diet Coke which is so stinkin’ expensive now, I consider it a luxury/splurge item!!
~C
Haha I second that on the NUTELLA!
We prefer Pampers Easy Ups to all other training pants, often passing up deals on Huggies Pull Ups. They just fit our daughter better and work out better for us.
Crisco shortening and White lily flour-I bought another brand of flour and store brand shortening (cheap, cheap) and ended up with hockey pucks instead of biscuits…Went right out and bought crisco $4.89…Ouch…
Clorox bleach and Dawn dishwashing liquid,,,,I have yet to find others that work as well,,,,,
I second 8 O’Clock Coffee!! Sometimes there are great sales on it — BOGO + coupons — and I stock up, but I am still willing to pay full price when we run out. I am not a morning person, so having my favorite cup of coffee helps, expensive or not 🙂
Produce…the organic stuff. The majority of my budget goes there, its something i’m not really willing to budge on. I try to purchase off the dirty dozen list to save money. But no matter what it always adds up.
Diet Coke! (original kind with caffeine, of course)
Diet Mnt Dew is mine. It is my morning pick me up!
Nestle Quik Sugar Free Chocolate Milk powder. I love the stuff. It is so much better than the sugared version! It’s about $5 for the 41-serving size so I stock up when it’s on sale (usually only Target marks it down, though Kroger occasionally will) and always clip coupons for it when I see them. I have two in my stash at the moment. I hope I can pick up more soon!
Gina
You are a sweetie–I actually bought two big canisters this week using the Q’s from the Target site 🙂
Diet coke – can’t live without it!
Cabot 75% less fat sharp cheddar is my “ovaltine” product. Coupons are rare and sales are sporadic, but I buy it anyway. It’s much lower in fat than other cheeses but tastes good. I also will sometimes get Chi-Chi’s single serving queso cups at full price because we have Mexican food once a week. I can’t have a burrito without the stuff!
I second the V8 Fusion, my 4 year old doesn’t eat as many fruits and veggies as he should but he loves his V8, it’s his “coffee”, speaking of which, if either of you Eight O Clock coffee ladies could use half caff I have 2 bags from the last sale, took me 2 bags to figure out it upset my tummy 🙁
Just a suggestion to all the soda drinkers… dh must have it in the house too. I do just a little bit of the drugstore game, mostly big moneymakers at Walgreens, and then I wait for a good price on soda (they did 4 12-packs for $10 with RR several times recently) and stock up! For instance, I really worked at doing the triaminic thin-strips deal which was $0, no tax on meds in our state, and produced a $5 RR. Then, I used each set of 2 $5RR to get 4 12-packs for just $.70 tax! They also do 2-liters for $1 fairly often, and it makes it easy to use RR on. I don’t roll my RR week after week for things I don’t want/need; just not enough time in the day. But it’s one luxury item that I’ve learned to creatively coupon for. It totally pays for the soft drinks in this house.
Diet Coke rules!
Sunchips! Yum-o! 🙂
Meat – I don’t know how people get out of the store w/ really low totals when you have to buy meat. My husband loves beef and of course it’s cheaper sometimes than others, but I think I have only ever once had a coupon for meat – except for the store ones like, “Buy this, get $1 off of meat.”
Michelle, thought of your post this evening when I opened my new Feb. issue of All You magazine…Ovaltine coupon! Enjoy! 🙂
ragu, half & half & international delights irish cream creamer are must have’s in our house. I have been lucky to find q’s for them sometimes.
Cheez-Its, Doritos, and Diet Pepsi. I can get deals on all of them, but not STEALS all the time! Hehe!
Our dog must have puppy chow, since it is what the breader started him on. We must buy milk (although I got a great deal last weekend on it). But normally we buy that deal or no deal.
oops, I meant breeder ; )
We’re a die-hard Ovaltine family! Target had it on TPC a couple of months ago and I was thrilled and stocked up for months. Our other “Ovaltine” is Pepperidge Farm Dark Chocolate Milano cookies.
We love Boars Head deli meat on Publix Italian sliced bakery bread. After I see how much those items cost, I am totally motivated to save every penny through the rest of the store!
organic milk! make the switch…your body will thank you 🙂
Milo’s sweet tea
Dairy products! Milk is never, ever on sale but I would pay anything for it.
Mach 3 razors. They are kind of expensive, but I can’t do disposables. This face deserves the best!!
WICKLES!!!!! There are no coupons for wickles, but I am so addicted & will buy them regardless.
Tell me, do they ever have a coupon for fresh vegetables! I know they run deals on them, but have yet to see a coupon for onions, or squash, ect….
Produce! I love salads!
Not a food, but my one shameful slpurge is Lancome Bifacil eye makeup remover at $26.00 at department stores! I have been able to get a much better deal at Tanger outlet with a 20% Q 🙂
What on earth is a WICKLE? Mine is Playtex Tampons. I would pay double for them so I don’t have to use Tampax.
My teenagers will barely et breakfast, so the Bagefuls are actually an awesome find for us. For me, personally, I have to have Coffeemate liquid lowfat! NOthing else is the same. Ditto on name brand paper products! By the way, you are awesome!
Tide HE sensitive detergent. sensitive detergent for HE washers is hard to find and my hubby’s gotta have the sensitive stuff for his skin issues–so I’ve become a Tide buyer–deal or no deal!
Organic milk for my 2.5 year old. It’s expensive as can be, but I feel it’s worth it.
Bigelow Tea. Rarely to never have qs. Fresh produce.
NesQuik powder, fresh produce, and Sunbeam bread. Every week!!
Okay… for all those Coke product fans, go to Rite Aid.com and watch the videos. There’s a $1 MQ/off a 12 pack!!!
My “ovaltine” is beer for my husband. 🙂
Chicken and beef. There are rarely Qs for those but we still eat them. 🙂
Glad ForceFlex trash bags. They are expensive but save me from an upset hubby….I love to really pack the trash and these bags NEVER break.
Hellman’s Mayonnaise, Heinz Ketchup and Heinz 57 Sauce are not negotiable! I buy most of my meat through a co-op and save about 50% on that so I feel like the few things that I have to have regardless of whether I can get a deal or not aren’t such a bad thing! Hellmans usually has coupons and Publix often has it BOGO (like now).
My olvatine is turkey spam. I can’t buy generic because they dont have generic turkey spam. So, i grab some everytime i go to walmart, because its cheaper than at publix. If that sounds gross to you, then you never lived in hawaii 🙂
im opposite of marie, i wont use playtex even if they are free… i could be a tampax commercial!
That is funny about the beer
Diet Coke and Coleman bacon. I can’t have nitrates and that is the only nitrate free bacon that I really like!
My dd is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, so for us it’s Sunbutter, made from sunflower seeds. We couldn’t make it a week without it. But…it’s $6 a jar!?! And it never goes on sale and I can’t get them to send me coupons. But….for those of us in the family who miss our peanut butter, it’s so worth every penny!
Have we said Diet Coke enough? DIET COKE! I like the Publix sale when they’re 3/$12 then B3G1. $3 per $12pk is GREAT in my book. Even better when they’re 4/$10 at Walgreens…haven’t seen that one since Halloween though. OH, and my husband is addicted to Mt. Dew. 🙂 I have really learned to let go of brand loyalty on a lot of things since couponing, and its worked out pretty good!!
Ditto on the Heinz kethchup. and I HATE thin toilet paper or paper that my family seems to run through too quickly! I will not buy Scott even if it works out to be free.
Heinz Ketchup
Decaf green tea. We mix it with regular orange pekoe to make iced teathat is a little healthier and has a lighter flavor. And we drink a LOT of tea in my house.
fresh fish. we only have fish on nights we go to the store, but theres NEVER a Q to go with sales, or at least knock down the price when its not on sale.
“dogsters” brand dog ice cream. theyre the least expensive of the 2 brands publix carries, and dog ice cream never is on sale, nor is there ever a Q. since my dog gets one EVERYDAY after her run, we gotta keep them in the freezer stock.
and iams cat and dog food. my dog had tummy surgery a few years ago and her vet stuck her on iams to help her digestion. and my cats just picky. lol!
Dukes Mayonaise for me and Starbucks coffee for hubby. I figure he works like a dog and has no hobbies so…he gets the Starbucks. (Publix and Target had Starbucks on sale and used with “Keep the Jingle” q back in the fall…I have 30 bags in my freezer!! HeHeHe!)
YoBaby Yogurt is a must have in our house! It’s not food but I will spend whatever it takes to get Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer! It’s fabulous.
Before today I would’ve said Smucker’s Simply Fruit. But I went to Publix and saw the low-sugar kind on BOGO and I had a Q. Decisions. Decisions. SO we’re trying that out. But I am a serious McDonald’s fountain Coke snob. I KNOW you can buy a 2 liter for the same price as one drink at Mickey D’s, but they have the BEST cokes! A buddy of mine used to work on restaurant Coke machines and said McD has the top the line system. Whatever it is, they get my money every time!
Kotex tampons, Lipton tea bags and Nutella! My Ellie Dog has to have Purina wet food in the can.
My husband’s 8 O’Clock Coffee, but I can usually stock up whenever Publix does BOGOs. The man can’t live without it, though!
absolutely nothing. Since I began the Q game, we use whatever is the cheapest, and we’ve all adapted to it nicely. Its kinda funny though, my kids used to only ask for stuff with that “black dot” on it, the Publix brand, because they knew that was all Mommy was going to shell out the bucks for, but now, almost nothing has the black dot.
I will only eat Heinz ketchup. Fortunately, the deals are pretty good during the summertime, so I stock up on 10 bottles to get me through the winter!
Our ovaltine is Carnation Instant Breakfast. My oldest has always had trouble keeping weight on (I know-what a problem) so he drinks one in the morning and one at night. He also is REALLY picky about breakfast-he hates cereal (what is wrong with this child?) I don’t always have time to cook pancakes, waffles and french toast, so this helps when we have to go out the door quickly.
We really have no “ovaltine” buys anymore. I only buy organic milk and yogurt for my toddler, but I usually find a coupon for it OR I have overage that covers it.
Biore face scrub and Neutrogena anti-red face wash…that combo helps my teens’ skin more than anything so I stock up whenever I can get Q’s and stack them on a sale…usually at Walgreens!
Thank you Michelle for going above and beyond…I look at both! Pepsi for my hubby, Milk for my daughter, and Olay for me. =)
