Coupons.com is just rocking right now–I think I have already printed more coupons in the past two days than I printed for the entire month of January. I am not complaining…but– I bet I have to go buy printer ink soon 😉
Candi over at Family, Stamping and Food emailed to let me know that if your store doubles you can use the $.30/1 Diamond Crystal Salt coupon HERE to score each item for .19¢ I believe I will add that to my list 😀
Thanks Candi!
Speaking of printer ink.Since I have started couponing,I have really been going thru printer cartridges.Anyone know a way 2 save money on cartridges? They’re very expensive & I wonder how much I’m really saving w/coupons,when u factor in how much ink I’m using.I’ve had them filled before at W’greens & they didn’t fill them correctly. They said they always have trouble w/filling the color ones & don’t guarantee that any of them will work when refilled. He went on 2 show me where it said “do not refill” on my HP cartridges.
I use HP ink and have been buying them via ebay with a company called http://www.InkPlusToner.com, I pay $17.49 with free shipping, $6 rewards from Staples when they are empty and 2% cashback via ebates. I do alot of printing and think this is a pretty good deal:)
Forgot to say that price is for a black cartridge and color cartridge.
and, on a similar note, how do you organize the printable coupons that you don’t use right away???
Ruth- I use a 3-ring binder & plastic baseball card sheets. The printables fit perfectly when folded in half. You can put multiple of the same coupon in the same spot & see the exp date on the back by flipping the page over.
There is also a $0.50 coupon out there for Diamond Crystal Sea Salt… which is also $.89 so if you use the coupon in a store that doubles, you can have .11 OVERAGE!
Georgia- I refill my cartridges. I found a great business on ebay (not sure if I can drop a name or not) that sells ink. I just looked up my cartridge numbers on google for my HP all in one thing (22 &21) and found instructions online how to peel off the sticker and refill it. I spent $9 on all colors including black and have been using it for about 4 months. I’ll need another black soon, but it is a LOT of ink. My husband uses it for school, so the printer cartridge per week was wearing a hole in our budget. I’ll have to get new cartridges when the contacts finally wear out, but until then.. I just use the needle and keep printing. 😀
ha ha! I had to buy printer toner today.
Georgia – my printer gives me lots of trouble when I use ink that’s not from the manufactuer (generic or refills), but I save some $ buying it at Office depot and using my store rewards card that gives me 10% back on ink purchases by way of agift card every quarter – also there’s usually a coupon available for about 20% off my purchase and they will accept your empty cartraiges to recycle (up to 5 per visit) and give you back $3 each (by way of the same store gift card each quarter) so when all is said and done I get a gift card 4 times a year that fully or almost covers a set of ink for my printer
Also, since I started printing everything on the economy (“fast”) setting, I’m using less ink and the coupons actually scan with less trouble at the store!
I just get my Black cartridge refilled at Walgreen’s when they are on sale at $9.99 (this week) and I print all my Q’s in Black. Well I print everything in Black for that matter. lol. They rarely have trouble with refilling Black. I tried color several times and they just can’t get it to work.
If you did the meter deal this week use your RR for free refills or for the remanufactured ones. They run from $14.99, $19.99 to about $24.99.
LizC-My HP is a 21/22 also.I bought the black/color combo pack about 4wks ago,& the black is empty!I don’t think we print enough stuff 4 that 2 already out!I bought a black cart. 2day at Target for $20.The combo packs r now between $35 to $40.If I have to do that every couple of mths.,then printing Q’s is going 2 actually cost me more!I think I will return the cart.,since I haven’t opened it yet & get it refilled at W’greens. They said refilling the black does OK.I ended up having 2 take them back when I had them refilled, because I only got a few print outs & then they were both empty. There’s no way they could’ve been filled all the way.Do u know if there’s any way that u can set the printer 2 only print in black?I also noticed Kristen said she has hers set to economy or “fast” & she uses less ink that way. Kristen-what kind of printer do u have?I wonder if I can find a setting like that on my HP officejet?
Magdala-I missed the Bayer deal.Can u tell me about it?Of course,I don’t need a meter,so what do u do w/them if u don’t use them?Could I donate it somewhere?
I’ve had bad experiences using refills as well. I think it depends primarily on your printer type and the quality of ink refill, and maybe a little luck, too. I usually stick to OEM carts for my HP printers. I save money at Staples on my ink by using their coupons. Go to ebay and search for “staples coupon” or you might want to try e-junkie. Here’s several: http://www.e-junkie.com/shop/tag/403/tag.php#Coupon
You can get a $20 off $50 or a $25 off $75 for about $2 or $3.
Oh and I forgot to mention… Karen had a great comment a few posts above, about using the “Economy” setting when you print… it saves a great deal of ink, not to mention prints even faster. On my HP printer, I have not found a way to set Economy as a “Default” setting, I just have to remember to change the preferences each time before I print.
Oops, sorry… I meant to say “Kristen” and not “Karen” 😉
Georgia- My F380 calls it fast draft and in the options you can configure it to run only greyscale. You can change it in the properties. The reason for the black running out so fast is it only holds 3mLs of ink. I highly.. HIGHLY recommend (especially for our cartridges since I KNOW it works) getting the ink and refilling it yourself. It is so simple and costs so little. I couldn’t afford $30 a week for printer ink and took that chance. Now, I have my parents and everyone refilling on their own. lol
Heather what zip code do you use for the .50 coupon? I believe I saw that the other day but didn’t print it… and now I can’t find it.
LizC-email me & tell me the company u buy ur ink from,gdonalson@bellsouth.net.I need a black cart. 2day,so I’m going 2 try W’greens again, since they have the $9.99 deal.I know my husband filled both our cart. up one time & said it was a huge mess,& not worth it.But,I’m certainly willing 2 try it myself. Thanks 4 the info. everyone
Sarah – I just printed and got the $.50/1 q. The zip code I used was 30622.
Thank you Jane!!
If you want to set your printer so that the “fast” setting is always the default. My DH (he’s a tech guy) said to make sure you change the setting under printer properties through the Control Panel and not the individual program you’re using (word; internet explorer; firefox;etc). That way it will stay as your default even after you’ve exited whatever program you’re using (and still be saved each time you turn on your computer) – He said this approah should work regardless of your printer type – HTH
Hello there,
I have printed diamond crystal salt in the past, but I am now trying to print the coupons and everytime I go to print it keeps telling me that I reached my limit. Is there anything you can do, so that I can print the coupons? Thanks
I have been trying to print out a diamond crystal salt coupon, but it keeps saying I reached my limit. I have not printed a salt coupon out in a while.
