I currently have eleven emails in my inbox from readers who asked where to start on the site and how to start saving money at Pubix. Instead of answering each person individually I thought it more appropriate to post for all to read.
How to use this site? I list as many deals as I can find, as many booklets that are reported, sweepstakes, contests and anything else that find to help you save money and get a great deal! I add new content constantly but here is the general schedule that I follow:
Saturday Morning or Monday Morning
- Sneak peek of the ad is posted
Tuesday
- Super Deals that correlate with sneak peek (The Super Deals are the absolute best deals from the ad)
Friday
- Weekly Totals
- Coupon Insert Preview
How to navigate the site? There are various features that will make the site easier to navigate–Tabs at the top of the site…hover over the tabs to see these options:
- Advantage Buy Flyers Tab–Click this tab to get access to the current Yellow and Green Advantage Buy Flyers. These are sales that last for approximately a month and are in addition to the weekly sales ad.
- Basics–Click this tab to decode all the lingo used on the site.
- Booklets–Here is where you will find a compilation of all booklets that have been reported at Publix. Not all stores will have all booklets…but it is much easier to find a booklet if you know what you are looking for!!
- FAQ’s–This is where you find the general coupon policy and tips for Publix stores. You will also find the list of available publications available and links to sign up.
- Rebates–Here you will find a list of the current rebates available.
- Weekly Ad–Here you will find quick links to the ad with matchups, the sneak peek, super deals and grocery spreadsheet(s)
Other ways to navigate the site:
- There is a search bar at the top right of the site. Looking for a recipe I posted?? You can use key words to search the site!
- The Categories listing on the right side of the site will take you to all the posts listed within a specific category. Want to see all the past penny items…just click and you will go to the archives all the penny items posts. Want to see the ads from previous weeks–click weekly ads and you will be able to choose the week to view!!
- Want to see deals at CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Kroger and all the great deals at other stores and online?? On the right sidebar is a link to my other sites where I give you the scoop on all deals elsewhere!!
- Have a question–email me by clicking the envelope at the top left of the site.
OK so now I know where to find everything on your site. What do I do first??
In order to find the deals you need to check out the Weekly Ad and Super Deals posts.
The weekly ad post is simply the Atlanta region Publix ad typed with all possible coupon matches listed with each item. The Super Deals are a compilation of the best deals from the ad grouped together for easy viewing. I typically scan the ad for things that I might want to buy while paying attention to the coupons that go with the item. At Publix the BOGO’s (Buy One Get One Deals) are going to be some of the best deals available!! You are getting two items for the cost of one item! Now add the savings of a manufacturer coupon PER ITEM and you have a great deal!! Since Publix accepts competitor/store coupons to be used in conjunction with a manufacturer coupon –if you see an item that has a corresponding manufacturer coupon and a competitor/store coupon available you have a FANTASTIC deal!!
Here on my site I list all manufacturer coupons in red and the corresponding store (or competitor coupons) are listed in green. You can combine one manufacturer coupon with one store coupon (Publix or competitor) per item you purchase!!
Knorr Sides, Assorted Varieties, 4 to 6.4 oz pouch, BOGO $1.49
-$0.55/2 Knorr Sides Publix Coupon Multiply Your Meals & Savings Booklet
-$0.75/3 Knorr Rice and Pasta Side Dishes any – 01-31-10 RP
Combine a MQ with the Publix Q for a great deal–I got the $0.60/2 in my inserts so I will pay 17¢ per pouch after coupons!
Now you know what’s on sale and what coupons are available for each item that is on sale! You are ready to make your shopping list (or use the grocery spreadsheet), gather your coupons, shop and save BIG BUCKS!! Don’t forget to check and the Advantage Buy Flyers to see if there are any ongoing deals that you want to take advantage of when you are making your list! I post the sneak peek on Monday so that you have plenty of time to prepare for your shopping trip to ensure you save as much money as possible!! The site is updated daily with anything that I can find to help you snag a great deal and save money!!!
I hope this has helped you understand how to use the site. Next week I will cover couponing & stockpiling and how these two concepts will help you cut your grocery spending dramatically!!
Well, this was one rockin’ guide to your site. I’ve been on here a couple months, and learned quite a few things. LOVE the schedule. Thanks so much to you, Michelle! This post will help the oldies as well as the newbies.
This was a great post to those of us who are new! Thank you so much for all your hard work!!! Love the schedule also!
I think you meant “Fairhope Foodie” instead of Frugal Fairhope… right?
I did –Thank you!!
Michelle,
It looks like this “guide” was a lot of work. I’m sure the newbies appreciate it. Thanks for all your efforts in helping us gals save lot of $$.
Michelle,
The Dollar Deals ad for Philadelphia Cream Cheese says “Publix Grape Magazine Winter.” Is this something I need a copy of to receive this discount? And if the ad says $1/1 how do you get it for .29 as your info suggests?
Hi Kelly
Yes you will need the coupon to get the discount–the $1/1 is the coupon amount. So if the cheese is priced $1.29 when you use the $1 off 1 item coupon you will pay .29¢ 🙂
I’m a total newbie so please excuse this question if it’s totally dumb! LOL The deals in red on the weekly ads – where do you print those?
Hey Jennifer
the coupons in red are manufacturer coupons–the location is listed in the print …it could be a tearpad, a peelie, from an insert
If you see shorthand such as 04-11-10 SS that means the coupon was in the April 11 Smart Source insert. Check the coupon basics tab for more info on the lingo 🙂 email me if you need help!!
I am new and I have no idea what I’m doing and would love if I can get help.
Can I print manufacture’s coupons right off your site?
yes–just look on the left sidebar and you will see links to Coupons.com, SmartSource & RedPlum. Also any blue links that say PRINT –these links will take you to where you can print a coupon 🙂
i need coupons for jif low sugar peanutbutter how do i search for a specific food coupon
Can you pair BOGO deals with BOGO coupons to get the item for free at Publix? Or any other stores in Florida?
Yes, you sure can! I called my Publix, located in Saint Petersburg and they verified that you can use these (b/c the manufacturer pays for the one you have a coupon for and Publix pays for the other one). Also, my Publix takes Target and Winn Dixie coupons. Call yours to find out. Unfortunately, no coupon doubling at Fl Publix’.
Hi, love your site!! You mention a grocery spreadsheet above. Do you have one on your site?
Thanks for all your hard work!
Hi! I love what you do in this site and thanks for all the info.
I was looking for ‘The Grocery Spreadsheet is easily available by clicking the picture of the grocery list on the right sidebar’ but couldn’t find it. Also, the spreadsheet link under the ‘Basics’ tab doesn’t seem to be working for me. What I’m I doing wrong.
If I do two separate transactions can I get two penny items, given that I have two coupons for the penny items?
i CAN’T SEEM TO FIND A PLACE TO SIGN UP FOR THE WEEKLY PUBLIX AD, DO I HAVE TO JUST CHECK YOUR WEBSITE?
tHANKS
Michelle – Your site is the BEST Publix site I have found over the net…you, my dear, are one incredible woman!!! Every week I thank you when I’m handed that receipt that’s as long as I am tall and giggle because I saved the most money anyone could with the help of my secret weapon…”I Heart Publix”.
Again thank you !!
Brittney
Hi Michelle: Love your site, super helpful.
I would like to know how to remove old messages/communications from the inbox section. I’d like to delete several messages from the inbox. Thanks!
I live in FL, will these coupons work for me? I assume they will, but just wanted to ask
Sorry! Total Newbie here! I am having trouble reconciling your Knorr example above. What do mean by saying: I got the $0.60/2 in my inserts so I will pay 17¢ per pouch after coupons! Was that a third coupon? Also, I assume that you purchased 3 items to make this deal work. Is that correct?
$1.49 X3 = $4.47 less one free = $2.98
less $.55 and $.75 coupons = $1.68 / 3
How does the $.60 / 2 effect the total?
Thanks so much for clarifying! It is beginning to make sense.
