Phew…it has been quite a day!! We have been on the go pretty much all day! It was just beautiful today so I took the boys to play with a few friends at Burger King for lunch–they got to run off some energy and I was actually able to have an adult conversation with my friends!! After BK, we ran some errands then I just had to do a Publix trip–this week is so great that I will probably go back a few times 🙂 After that we came home for a few minutes only to jump back in the car for t-ball practice! Now dinner is finished and I can sit for a few minutes and type while I watch the Olympics!!
That means I went to Publix twice this week! I am so glad to have a good sale as I have needed to stock up on a few things since I haven’t really shopped much this year!! My four year old requested a PB&J sandwich yesterday and I was out of jelly–GASP–I am never out of anything!! SO–I went through my kitchen pantry and stockpile pantry and will be filling in some gaps in the next week or two!!
I was just thrilled to find a Publix gift card in my mail the other day (from winning a sweepstakes I posted about last year) so this week’s totals are awesome since the gift card paid the majority of my total!! Now I can use my budgeted money to re-stock the items that I need!!
My trip today was great but I did accidentally get three cans of corn that were not part of the Green Giant BOGO. I also decided to pay a little more for a package of pre-seasoned meat (Jerk Seasoned Pork from the meat department) since I knew we were going to have a long day today!! I was able to get enough meat for 10-11 meals and added lots of canned and frozen veggies to my stockpile!
So…this week I spent $14.60 for over $260 worth of merchandise!! That means I save 95% this week. Of course this total was mainly thanks to my gift card–but since I did not have to pull that money from my bank account I include it in my weekly totals.
Here is what I purchased for $14.60:

How did you all do this week?? Leave a comment or link to your weekly totals.
I was curious about where you got the coupon
for chicken quarters?
Thanks!
$2/1 Winetag and $1/1 Publix coupon 🙂
were you able to use 2 of the $5/20 items coupons in 1 transaction?
Yes–I asked prior to shopping if they wanted me to do multiple transactions or if I should do it all together. My store is FABULOUS and allowed me to do it all at once (they even opened a register for me —you are the best Tammy!!)
I’m wondering why you didn’t use three $5/20 items…you actually had enough products to do that..??
P. Broth – 4
GG Froz. veggies – 16
————————-
P. Sweet rolls – 6
P. Crescents – 10
GG Mushrooms – 4
————————-
GG can veggies – 17
GG can corn (mistake) – 3
————————-
Just wondering…
I did Jo–it is the $5 listed for the canned veggies. I had my spreadsheet made before I left home and added the additional two $5 coupons after I spoke to my manager. I did not think I could use the $5 off 20 in combination with the other Italian Days sale coupons…but when she said “Of course you can” I added the other two to reduce my total even more 🙂
I found the Knox coupon but was wondering if a cashier/manager would question it since the picture of the item is clearly not for gelatin. I was concerned that might be pushing it a bit. I see you used it. Would you mind sharing your thoughts on it? Also, where did you get $5 worth of coupons for the broth. I could only come up with $2 by stacking the publix and the 2 50 cent coupons. Am I missing something? Same with sweet rolls, cresents and frozen veggies? How did you have such a high coupon value? Also, I see you bought 10 cresent rolls. Can you freeze them? I’ve always wondered that.
Hey Kerry
I spoke to my store ahead of time and since the coupons says ANY –they allowed me to use it. If you are ever in doubt Publix has phenomenal customer service and will let you know either way!!
the broth was the deal I posted earlier this week–four $.50/1 + $1/4 progresso italian days Q (my store doubles so that is $5 off)
The cresents = six .95/1 + two $1/3 Italian Days Q = $7.7
frozen veggies = eight .50/1 + four $.50/2 + two $1/1 art calendar grocery coupons
crescents = two $.50/1 + four $.50/2 + three $1/3 italian days Q’s
Remember my store doubles so all those $.50/X will be worth $1 each!!
I do freeze pillsbury baked goods and have only had one pop–but they usually have a long life and can stay in the frige for several months before the exp date.
PS…I love your website. I use it exclusively and have shared it with so many people. Thanks for all your hard work. I truly appreciate all the effort you put into both of your blogs to help all of us save so much money. I am in awe of your savings every time you post your totals. Amazing!!!!
What a week! I spent $83 and saved $76. I’m very happy with this, but I’m also in awe of those who are spending less than $50 and saving $100+! Do you have any tips on buying meat? Also, I don’t mean to be too invasive, but I’ve been wondering if you might describe or show us a pic of your stockpile pantry. Thanks a million for all your hard work and for sharing it with us! I visit your site every day!
Terri I will see if I can get some pictures together and post them. I am always so hesitant to post pictures of my stockpile to save my feelings…I know most people (my fabulous readers) will understand my stockpile but I also know that I will get emails and comments saying that I am hoarding and write me about starving children and how I should be ashamed…so I will put on my armour and post them as I would love to see all of you guys’ pictures too!
I am a pretty tough cookie but I always feel like I have to justify my stockpile to people that just don’t get it and like any other gal I have feelings and don’t like it when people say mean things to me 🙂
Kerry, I was wondering the same thing about the high coupon values Michelle has, but then I realized her store may be one that doubles coupons. I sure wish they had that in FL. I’m so jealous!
Michelle, I love your site! And not just for the savings; I enjoy hearing about your crazy days! Thanks!
I spent $17.34 for $124.48 worth, saved $107.14 = 86%
Good for you and yeh for Pubix gift cards. Let’s hope one of us wins the biggie!
Thanks so much for your answer. That makes sense. Sorry to be a pest, but one other question. How do you get so many copies of the printable coupons (i.e. 50/1 broth printable)? Do you have multiple computer/printers or do you have folks that share them with you. There are so many times I am wishing I could get more than the 2 copies on certain things.
BTW..my stockpile is pretty crazy looking to some people too, but hey, that is what makes this work. Yes, I have 10 boxes of cereal and still buy more when the kind I want is on sale. Some people think I have lost my mind, but I am saving money so who cares. 🙂
Sorry to bother you again. Did the publix q. for the chicken
come from a flyer? I’ve never been lucky enough to get a
q. for chicken and I was just wondering.
Thanks!
I don’t care what people think of my stockpiles! Thank goodness my moms Christmas present to us this yr was shelving for the garage (it is now full of diapers, wipes, and canned veggies, along with other stuff). I am just now starting to run out of all the cereal cups from when Target had out that great GM cereal coupon, and lots of free veggies and bean from the GM coupon at PUBLIX in OCT.) My friends don’t seem to mind when they can shop at my house, or when I bring snacks for their children at playgroups.
I think that your subscribers and people who follow this site would be fairly understanding of your stockpile, if not flat out jealous. I know my pantry and supply closet look unusual, but it gets the job done! I’m happy to say that this is one of my “off weeks” where I didn’t go to Publix because I didn’t need anything 🙂
I completely understand what you’re saying about other people’s impressions. I am a rather thin skinned gal & certainly wouldn’t want to “bring the rain” down on someone else! Please don’t feel pressured about a picture. I have rather limited storage in my house (with no garage to turn to), so I’ve stashed toilet paper and boxed goods in some rather unusual places! But I am an organization nut, so was just curious how other people manage their stockpiles.
Thanks for all you do for us! Bargain shopping is the reason I can afford to stay home with my little boy! And you play a big role in that!
Hi! I have been couponing for a few months now and I am always pleased just to see a total that is under $100! but i am curious as to how everyone is getting such low totals. do you stockpile everything when it goes on sale, even if you do not need it or aren’t even close to needing it? I worry about things expiring. escpecially refrigerated items, I am never sure what can be frozen and what can’t and for how long. I would LOVE to start seeing my weekly totals decrease. Does anyone have any helpful pointers? They would be very much appreciated! Thanks!
Hi, Amanda! Yes, stockpiling items you use on a regular basis certainly does help. Don’t be afraid of using competitor coupons, store coupons from the Advantage flyers & paper, and using coupons on both of the BOGO items. If your store doubles you’re even better off! It takes a few months to get a good stockpile going, so keep at it. Also, making a menu every week and using up ingredients you already have really helps. I have a “master list” of dinner entrees that I draw from and I’m constantly trying to add to it for more variety. Check out some of the links above to see how people have gotten their totals down for more inspiration 🙂 Hope that helps!
I know I’m late to the party here, but I just wanted to THANK YOU so much for all you do. Your blog is a total blessing to my family. Proof?? I just got home from Publix where I spent $22.92 for $145.45 worth of groceries. Seriously. You’re amazing. Thank you thank you thank you!!! 🙂
I definitely think a stockpile photo sharing day is in order!
