Nicole reminded me about the Publix coupons that have been in the recent inserts…did you know you can get them at The Coupon Clippers. Just do a search for Publix and you will see the list!!–thanks Nicole!!
One of my readers who also happens to be a manager at Publix emailed me about a comment she read here on the site about another reader getting a super deal because a cashier bent the rules. While I know we all love a good deal-to me… a deal is not good unless it is valid!! I work hard to try and provide you all with great legit deals. We are all very quick to point out when a cashier makes a mistake that hurts our total we need to make sure and point out mistakes to the cashiers even when the mistake is to our benefit!
Jennifer emailed to let me know that she found some great peelies in her cereal aisle! Be sure and look for the “Stock Up Event” peelies when shopping for at your store!
I agree, Michelle! A deal is only a deal when it is legit! I could get a lot of stuff for cheap if I “bent” or broke the rules. That’s what makes it awesome – we follow the rules AND save money!! 🙂
Thanks to that manager for speaking up! I couldn’t agree more with him/her keeping thins on the up and up will allow us to experience even more great deals in the future! I love saving money!
I agree and am glad that you mentioned this, yet again. This is WHY some of the cashier’s are so very careful in reviewing each and every coupon. Really, it used to irritate me but then I realized that it’s because they’ve had things happen and I’m sure they’ve been called on it. I figure this: if a $1 off coupon is like a dollar in my pocket, then CERTAINLY to a store, it’s a dollar in their cash drawer, right? So why would you try to pull something over? So, sure, go ahead, hate to hold up the line (had a lady roll her eyes at me last week as she fidgeted behind me) but make sure everything is acceptable to you, the cashier. I’ve jokingly offered my list to that matches the product with the coupon and the item amounts 🙂
I have a question. Is it okay to get a peelie off a product if you are not buying it?
Sheh- There’s a big debate out on that. I personally don’t do it, tempting as it is. It just doesn’t sit right ethically with me and I get upset when I hear about a great peelie on a product I would buy or see where a peelie has been and there’s none there because others have taken them off.
Shanna, thanks for your reply. If it feels wrong to you then that is sin for you. I paraphrased that from the Bible. God bless and grace.
My Publix has gotten more and more strict about coupons and sometimes I feel like they automatically assume I’m trying to cheat them out of money. I’m very honest and do things by the book, which is why I can’t seem to save more than 50-55% each week. I don’t know how others are saving 80-90% without fudging. I sure wish they’d show me how if it’s legit. Any way, I know there is a lot of misuse and dishonesty and everyone pays for it. My Publix no longer considers Walgreens or CVS as a competitor and they are literally in the same block. That’s too bad. I will drive to the other two stores and probably will now. It’s a shame that Publix can’t get the difference of the price of that item from me and that I can’t save myself the time.
Anyone else notice they are taking less and less coupons?
Just last week I noticed the cashier had mistakenly rung up a raincheck as a coupon. I noticed it after I got home. During my last visit, I went to customer service and told the cashier that I owed them money. She was incredulous but accepted the money. I love saving money, but I know that it’s God who ultimately provides for my needs.
As for the peelies, the manufacturer intends it for the purchaser of that product. Otherwise they have many other options for providing coupons.
