Oh I am so excited…I just received an email from Restaurant.com announcing that they are offering 80% off purchases when you use the code CHOW at checkout!! That means you can get a $25 gift certificate for $2!! I don’t think I have EVER seen 80% off this early in the month!! I have been buying my certificates when they put them on sale at 60% because usually if I wait for 80% my favorite restaurants are sold out!! Woo Hoo!!
Remember to check the restrictions as each restaurant has different redemption requirements. Just as an example–our favorite Mexican restaurant requires that you spend $35 to use the $25 gift card…so here is the math at 80%:
Purchase $35 worth of food & drinks (very do-able for a family of four–basically $8.75 per person)
Use $25 gift card (that I paid $2 for)
Pay $10 + tax + tip
Dinner out for a family of four for about $20!!
Basically I save 50% on our bill every time I use these babies!! Ok I am off to stock up…remember the certificates are valid for a year!! Hurry as the code is only valid until 4/6!
According to my coupon from Restaurants.com, not only do I have to spend $35 but I also have to pay 18% gratuity BEFORE coupon! I haven’t used the coupon yet so I’m not sure they’ll hold me to it, but that 18% gratuity really lessens the savings of the coupon.
Just wanted to share.

I personally feel that the server should be compensated based on the pre coupon total–just my opinion of course 😀
You always tip your server on precoupon price. They served all the food to you even if you are not paying for it. Remember most of their compensation is from tips, not salary.
Printed 2 certificates for our favorite sushi restaurant in town. There were only 2 available. I guess they go quick!
