I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day!! My day was great and some of you may have noticed…I took the day off and gave my computer a rest 🙂 I have a bunch a full inbox and lots of things that I had planned to do today so hopefully I will get to everything 🙂
I have had so many people contact me asking if it would be possible for me to help bring some attention to their favorite charity/cause. While I would love to do this for everyone who has emailed me…at the rate the requests are coming in I would be posting several charities/organizations per day! So I wanted to throw something out and get some feedback. I was thinking that every Sunday I could spotlight a worthy cause. One of my favorite things about couponing is the fact that my smart decisions often allow me the ability to give to others. Whether it be a donation of food to a food pantry or a few dollars to worthwhile cause…budgeting and couponing can not only help grow my savings account but it can help me help others!!
If you would have a nonprofit you would like to see in the spotlight you can forward the information to contactiheartpublix@gmail.com. I will do my best to get to everyone 🙂 I also need a catchy little title for the new segment so you guys put your thinking caps on 😀
Just a reminder, last week my buddy Carmen set up a Pampered Chef Party and online fundraiser to promote the American Cancer Society. Right now you can get Pampered Chef products at a 15% discount and at the same time help contribute to Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection Programs. I totally forgot to post a reminder last week so Carmen agreed to keep the party going for the next three days. Go HERE to learn how to order some great products and donate to a VERY worthwhile cause.
Everybody has a charity or organization that is close to them. I don’t think its necessary to spotlight 1-2 per week. Personally I think the site should stay focused on its main purpose, Publix Deals. If anything I think that you should have a dedicated page for this as well as food recipes that people can link to, but not display those (at least not fully) on the front page.
Now for a request…can you please add a link to Sneak Previews to the categories, as when they are early, after a day or so it is hard to find them again before the full post goes live.
Thanks!
Avid Fan
FEEDBACK: I agree with all of the points PM made in her post. This is a Publix blog and I would like to see it stay focused on deals at Publix. I think a dedicated page for food recipes that people can link to (that are not displyed on the front page) would be helpful.
When I come to this blog I am mainly looking for deals at Publix (not charity information or recipes, for example). I am looking for the Sneak Peak, deals from your inbox, and any other pertinent information regarding Publix (i.e. new coupon booklets, etc).
Thanks Michelle!
I would also like to request a link to the Sneak Previews as I also have a difficult time finding it before the full post goes live.
You can always find the Sneak Peek one of two ways…click on the top tab titled Weekly Ad or click on the left category titled weekly ad. It will be in both places
I will take your comments into consideration but I want my site to be more than a list of deals–I get fantastic feedback from several of the “features” I run on the site that are beyond the ad list or a deal post. The great thing about it is if you don’t care for a particular post you can just scroll past it 😀
Michelle, you are the owner of the blog so you are free to make the blog whatever you want it to be. You asked for feedback and so I’d like to add one more point of view. I’ve seen many blogs that start out being very specific and then they start adding alot of features that have nothing to do with their intended audience. There will always be some people that will like some of the features that you add but that doesn’t mean that all of your readers (or even the majority of your readers) will like them. I run a private, local, not-for-profit blog called “I love Publix” for example. The blog is a “visual blog for the advanced Publix couponer.” The majority of my readers are solely interested in Publix deals. I could add all kinds of other elements to my blog to make it interesting to some of the folks that visit the blog but I would be losing my intended focus/audience. Maybe an anonymous marketing poll would be a good way to gauge the interest of your audience. I could understand you adding these elements to your other blog because the audience is less specific. It’s just my two cents so take it with a grain of salt.
