I hope you are all having a wonderful Memorial Day!! We have enjoyed the day by cooking out, relaxing and watching movies in our “soon to be completed” basement! Wouldn’t you know the first room to be completed is the theater/man cave. Tee hee–I can’t complain as it is nice to just veg in front of a movie every now and again!!
Well another perk of the day is that my husband was home and I was able to shop all by myself this morning!! It was such a treat but I tell you I might be better off with the boys. It was so nice to shop alone–I strolled around the store and actually had a chance to look around a little bit. When I have the boys I try hard to get my items and get out as quickly as possible to avoid any major meltdowns. While looking around I saw a couple of ribeye steaks and just couldn’t help myself…I actually bought several things that were not on my list!!
I totally blew my budget but you know it was worth it 😀 I still think my savings percentage will be pretty good this week!! Here is what I am planning this week:
BBQ Ribs, Potato Salad & Baked Beans
Grilled Ribeye, Squash Casserole & Fried Okra
Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes & Steamed Veggies (my husband’s request this week)
Baked Ziti
Homemade Chicken Pot Pie
Hot Dogs & Beer Battered Onion Rings (this one is subject to change based on my mood 🙂 )
HaHa…Your Monday was the same as my Sunday. I didn’t have my son which is a rare treat but leaves me less focused. I also couldn’t pass up the the steaks. I am having 4 of the meals you have listed. 3 are identical and I had mine planned on Sunday. I didn’t go too far out of budget since I had Kingsford coupons and $3 off meat and $2 off pork. Would have been under if all the good advantage buys and Bic razors weren’t wiped out.
SOOOO nice to go without the kidlets! Hope you enjoyed and relaxed!
can you please send me the directions for the Chicken Pop Pie, I would love to make one
Thanks

Hello! I am new to couponing, just starting my 2nd month. I have 5 little boys and am a stay at home Mom and I can’t believe how much money I saved last month!! (Spent $410 the entire month which is about half of what I usually spend, and I believe I can save even more as I learn more!!) I have noticed some people “meal plan” for the week. Could someone explain to me how that works, and does it help you save even more? Thanks so much for all your help, love the site!!
When I plan my meals weekly I don’t have to worry about going out last minute shopping for ingredients or worse having to spend money on eating out unnecessarily.
I plan meals based on what I have in my stockpile from the previous month’s purchases. It helps keep my products rotating so they don’t expire and it keeps us eating interesting things. We used to eat the same thing every week (spaghetti, tacos, chicken rice casserole) but since we started couponing, we have more variety. It’s really fun!
