Dumb ? Can I freeze the blueberries? How would I do it? Thanks!
Yes, you can freeze blueberries. My dad has a few blueberry bushes, and we pick gallon bags full in the summer and freeze them. The best way I have found is to just freeze them in a ziplock as it. Don’t wash them first or they’ll all freeze together in a giant clump. My kids love to eat them frozen!
thanks!! 🙂
I wash my blueberries first and let them. I then spread them on a baking sheet to freeze. This won’t take long. Then I fill a ziploc bag with the individually frozen blueberries. They feel like marbles. I like to freeze them this way, and I’ve never had any problems with them clumping together. Then when I’m ready to use them all I have to do is thaw what I need.
My mom told me what I asked to just put them in a freezer bag, don’t even rinse them off and they will be fine for a couple of months. (Just be sure to wash them when you go to use them–lol) She knows this stuff, has been canning and freezing for longer than my 40 years.
I freeze blueberries on cookie sheets then put in ziplock freezer bags. My favorite way to eat them is to put frozen berries in a cup and cover with orange juice. Let sit for 5+ minutes then eat with a spoon. The berries will be slushy and so will the OJ – if you’re into Slurpees or slushes this is delicious, quick and easy!
I freeze them too and we use them for smoothies…
Is the Smart Balance milk under a specific zip code, or are they gone already?
try zip 72295 🙂
they are at smartsource zip 30281
I think there were coupons for Ken’s in early may that don’t expire until 6-30. Sorry don’t have my inserts with me to be sure.
I bought a bunch of blueberries this week and froze them in ziploc containers after washing them. I just measured and froze them by the cup. I am hoping they don’t freeze together, but I will be using them in muffins or cakes, so it really won’t matter to me.
I know you guys have taken advantage of the FREE BLUEBERRIES that Publix has so graciously given us. I already have 6 pints frozen in the freezer and 5 more pints in the refrigerator. I don’t know how many I have eaten!! The last 2 1/2 cups went into this wonderful Blueberry Cream Pie. If you are searching for something to do with your blueberries, take a few minutes and make this pie. You will make some people in your life very happy!
Blueberry Cream Pie
1 cup sour cream
2 T all-purpose flour
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt
1 beaten egg
2 1/2 c. fresh blueberries (preferably from Publix LOL!)
1 unbaked 9″ pastry shell
3 T all-purpose flour
3 tsp. butter or margarine, softened
3 T chopped pecans or walnuts (or more)
Combine first 6 ingredients; beat 5 minutes at medium speed with electric mixer or until smooth. Fold in blueberries. Pour flling in pastry shell; bake at 400 Degrees for 25 minutes.
Combine remaining ingredients, stirring well; sprinkle over top of pie. Bake 10 minutes. Chill before serving.
ENJOY!
Try spreading the berries on a cookie sheet (with wax paper down) to freeze individually first, and transfer them to a bag later to avoid clumping together. I do this with chopped bell peppers, onions, berries, and pasta.
great idea!
What a outstanding blog you all have happening. I love the combination of good and precise information together with a few intellectual opinions. It’s actually great to be able to at last discover excellent articles where I think I’m able to have confidence in the information as well as admire those who which publish it. With all the net garbage nowadays I continually enjoy discovering some true presences on the web. Many thanks for posting and keep it up, please!!

How much is kool-aid at Publix? I’ve never bought it here?
I checked it out last night and koolaid packets at my store (in Florida) are 5/$1
Thanks!!!
Was wondering the same thing about the price of it.
There is a Gas-X coupon in the yellow flyer in the store for 5.00 off two and the 10 gelcaps box are 2.39 each, pair up with the coupons.com 1.00 off one and score a big savings.
so you can freeze milk—i have like 8 milk coupons–and i want to stock up,but have never frozen milk–you ladies think i can???
Hi Lisa! I freeze my milk right in those half gallon containers – I know some people pour a little out, but I just throw them right in the freezer & give them a tiny bit of room to expand. Works every time! I’ve had milk stay good in the freezer for up to 6 months.
Can I still use the berry coupon today (6/23) with the 6/23 expiration? I never understand if the coupon needs to be used before the date on it or can be used that day too? When I went to Publix for my weekly shopping Sunday – they were completely out of berries!
yep you can use a coupon through the date of expiration…so go grab some berries 🙂
