People ask me all the time what I do to save money on things besides groceries, and I have to tell you that entertainment is one of the bigger expenses that I’ve been looking for a way to save money on. My boys just love going to the movies, but I hate how expensive it is!! A few weeks ago we were all out running errands and we decided to go see Toy Story 3. Of COURSE the two free tickets I had were at home 🙂 , so I paid full price for four tickets, two large sodas, and a large popcorn. The total was over FIFTY DOLLARS!! That is just crazy! So when I saw this new deal for Weekly Cinema, I just had to check it out. At first I was a little leery of paying out every month for tickets, but the more I read about the program, the more I realized how much we could save. Here’s how it works:
Join and get 1 free movie ticket (Fandango code) during your “trial period” (3 days or until you redeem your ticket, whichever comes first). During that time, you can cancel your membership without being charged. After you redeem your first ticket, you begin your monthly membership, which costs $14.95 a month. At the beginning of every month, you’ll get 3 Fandango coupon codes – a $14 value per ticket towards any movie (even IMAX and 3D movies)! That means that you’ll save money even if you only use 2 of your 3 tickets each month. Since these are Fandango codes, you can use them at most theaters in the US, AND continue to earn rewards through your theater’s rewards program (if it has one) – just enter your rewards account number* on the Fandango checkout page. That means even more savings!! If you decide that Weekly Cinema isn’t working for you, you can cancel at any time without a cancellation fee (make sure you cancel before the beginning of the month – once your Fandango codes are issued, they can’t be returned so you’ll end up paying for that month).
Right now Weekly Cinema is also running a promotion – get a friend to sign up, then contact Weekly Cinema with their name & email address and you’ll BOTH get another free ticket! 🙂 Can you say SCORE? Click HERE to sign up! This is going to be a big help planning date nights!!
If you just don’t like membership programs or you don’t think you’ll use your monthly tickets, you can always check out KGB Deals for super-cheap movie tickets. Note: you can only get $4 tickets through KGB if you live in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York City, or Washington DC. Go HERE to check out KGB.
*If you don’t have a rewards card with your cinema, you should sign up today! Most of the big chains have some sort of free program where you earn points with every ticket you buy (Fandango codes count!!) & every dollar you spend at concession. You can earn free concessions and free tickets when you have enough points! Here are some of the bigger chain’s rewards sign-up programs:
Regal Cinemas:Â Regal Crown Club
AMC Theatres:Â MovieWatcher Rewards
National Amusements:Â Star Pass
http://www.wildaboutmovies.com offers screening passes to tons of movies. Not always in your city, but I have gone to quite a few movies for free through their site. Just be prepared to arrive early at the theater as your seat is not guaranteed.
Just wondering if anyone has every used this service? It really sounds like a good deal, but I am skeptical about giving out my credit card number. Also, if you read their FAQ page, they also offer packages with 2 or 4 tickets per month. We’re a family of 4, so that’s good news for us!
Be careful. The page where you enter your credit card info is not secure. I’m skeptical.
Weekly Cinema is an affiliate of Fandango and is completely legitimate. We just signed up and my husband is going to use the free ticket tonight! The only thing is that it says the membership is $15.99 per month (not the $14.95 in the post). We’re gonna see how it goes and decide it we want to keep using it.
