I just finished my lunch — leftover pizza that I made with the fabulous pizza dough you find in the Publix Bakery.Β Their pizza dough is so good. I would say it is my favorite thing that they make in the bakery…but then I remember how much I love their cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and then there is the Tuscan Roasted Garlic loaf…Β Ok, so maybe I love just about EVERYTHING from the Publix Bakery πΒ I love having the option to grab a freshly made ball of pizza dough that I can then bring home and makeΒ into a pizza for only a few dollars!!Β It is cheaper (and tastes better) than any delivery or frozen pizza out there!!Β
This month’s art calendar coupon isΒ for $1 off a bakery item.Β I have a couple more coupons and I was trying to think of things to get from the Publix Bakery that would help me in my menu planning.Β So, I thought I would get you guys to help me come up with some ideas!!
I want you guys to give me your best recipe/meal idea that uses somethingΒ from the Publix Bakery!Β I will choose my favorite and that person will get a $50 Publix gift card to use to get their favorite things from Publix π
I will choose a winner on 9/22 and post the winning recipe/idea!!
Note – Please comment on this post.Β Comments left on the Facebook page will not be included.
UPDATE:Β I have been reading the comments as they come in and you guys ROCK.Β I think we may have to send some of these to Publix and get some of these posted on their Apron’s recipes!!!Β I am thinking there may be more than one winner….
Plain and simple…hot ham and cheese sand with publix mountain bread. Butter each side of the sand and grill like a grilled cheese…so yummy and easy, I like putting spicy mustard on mine to give it a “kick”. Hope you enjoy
We love to get the bakery sub rolls and make our own subs at home. After dinner have one of their canolli’s (sooo good).
Get a loaf of the Publix bakery sliced french bread and make grilled cheese sandwiches on the George Foreman grill instead of a frying pan. They are like getting deli grilled cheese sandwiches without the cost. Serve it with some baked fries and fresh cut fruit and your family will love it! Simple and fast with little clean up and prep time.
You have to get the Italian Five Grain bread, it’s a Publix must! Here is what I do each week, one night a week is soup and sandwich night, which happened to be last night!
I made the best grilled cheese sandwiches, with slices of tomatoes, yumo! And tomatoes soup (Campbellβs V8 soups, Tomatoes and herbs) just add a little basil and top with some cheese… Yummy and it only takes about 10-15 minutes from start to finish.
Another thing I do with the Publix Italian Five Grain bread is make my own croutons, break up about 6 slices of the bread into cubes, place in a mixing bowl, drizzle olive oil, dash of salt and pepper and toss till well coated. Then pop in the oven at 300 degrees until a golden brown. π
Plus these delicious little croutons also make for a prefect topping on the Campbellβs Tomatoes Herb soup!
There are so many things to choose from at the Publix Bakery, each time I go with my husband, he runs to the Bakery counter to get a free cookie. Yes I know, those are for the kids, but honestly he is a kid and the ladies at our Publix just adore him, as do I!
Happy Shopping!
Love the fresh rolls great to make sandwiches out of!!
My absolute favorite thing from the Publix bakery is their rye bread!! We make Matt’s dad’s famous breakfast sandwiches with it: toast the bread and put mayo on one side, ketchup on the other, and put 1 or 2 broken-yolk fried eggs in the middle.
I know, I know, it SOUNDS gross. That’s what I said the first time Matt offered to make me one. But then I tried it, and I fell in love. It’s soooooo good!
ChristyS … that sounds wonderful that is next weeks Soup and Sandwich night. Thanks for sharing!
Yay! Let me know how you like it!! π
Mmmm, how to choose??? I’m going to pick French Hamburger Buns. I like to saute or grill a chicken breast, pounded flat. Them simmer it in your favorite wing sauce. Butter and grill the buns, then assemble. Chicken breast, red onion slices, crumbled bleu cheese or bleu cheese/ranch dressing. OH MAN, you’re talking GOOD! LOL I’ll even put pepperjack on it sometimes, with the dressing of choice. And jalapenos! (I’m a chile head :-D)
We love the pizza dough and I make breakfast pizza on them! You top with sausage gravy and scrambled eggs ham bacon sausage onions peppers mushrooms and top with cheese! Bake until lighly browned! Love it!!!!!!
Grilled veggie sandwiches. Grilled squash, peppers, eggplants, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc. along with sliced tomato and lettuce on Publix sub rolls.
I love to get their pizza crust dough and make a pizza. It’s so easy, just roll it out, put your toppings on, and bake.
I have to say, I LOVE their Big Loaf of Italian Bread!!! I go to the meat dept and grab the ready to cook meet balls, put them in the crock pot, cover with sphagetti sauce cook them all day. Cut my Loaf into 3-4 pieces, slather with the meatball/sauce mixter, add olives, and Motzerlla cheese and YUMMY!!! These are a TAILGATING MUST!!! ESP when it starts getting cooler!!! We just eat some Cape cod chips with ours! Its a great Option for a quick meal!
You can also use the meat balls and sph sauce mixture for your traditional spaghetti! Just add Noodles!!
I am looking forward to looking back and getting some GREAT REcipes!!!
Happy Cooking!!

Our favorite Saturday morning breakfast uses the bakery’s fresh Challah bread (with our without raisins). Here’s the recipe:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 loaf sliced Publix Challah bread with or without raisins
6 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
In a small saucepan melt butter and sugar to make a light syrup. Pour into a 9×13 baking dish. Sprinkle chopped pecans on top of syrup. Lay bread on syrup filling all holes until syrup is completely covered. Beat eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Pour over bread slices, cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake uncovered at 350 for 45 minutes. Rub a little butter on the top of the bread when it comes out of the oven. Slice into squares and serve.
My favorite actaully uses your pizza dough. We love to make bacon and sausage strombolis at home.
Cook bacon and sausage…Roll your dough out flat into a square, cover with cheese, bacon sausage (you really could use anything your family loves).
Roll it up, pinch the ends and place it on a cookie sheet, I always have to bend mine a little becasue it is too long. I melt butter and brush it on top with italian seasoning, salt and parmesean. Cook until golden brown, slice it up and serve with marinara. YUM!
Get a loaf of the Sweet Potato Pecan Artisan Bread and use it for breakfast to make a Fall/Winter-y French Toast. Use it for an after dinner dessert with a sweet or flavored cream cheese. Toast a slice or two with peanut butter or cream cheese for a quick on-the-go breakfast. Crumble it up and bake it in the oven on a baking sheet/pan to top sweet potatoes or to make a crunchy sweet potato casserole topping.
It is by far my favorite Artisan Bread and so diverse for cooking!
WOW that sounds delicious! I have never seen that bread at Publix…I will have to look harder! Thanks for the idea.
I love to get the sub rolls and make Chicken Parmesan subs!! They are awesome and my husband loves it. I use Tyson frozen breaded chicken tenders and cook them in the oven, I brown a lb. of hamburger and add a jar of spaghetti sauce. Toast the rolls, add the chicken and top with hamburger sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese!
Sinful Cheese Dip
1 Loaf Hawaiian Bread
2 8 oz. Boxes Cream Cheese Softened
1 Cup Shredded Cheddar
1 16 oz. Sour Cream
4 Stalks Green Onion Chopped
1 Pkg. Deli Ham
Scoop out the middle of the bread forming a bowl for the cheese mixture.
Mix all ingredients. Pour cheese mixture into the bread. Cover lightly with foil, And bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Serve with crackers and bread. Enjoy!
I get the pizza dough from the bakery, a rotisserie chicken from the deli and i make grilled buffalo chicken pizza!
pull the chicken from the bones, and chop or shred to bite sized pieces.\
Mix ranch dip package ( i like Hidden Valley) and sour cream according to directions. add 1-2 tablespoons of hot wing sauce to ranch dip
shape 1/2 of dough in to pizza rounds spray with pam spray and grill on med just until outside is set and you can handle it with out it flopping all over. Lower grill temp to low! Bring it in and spread about 1/4 cup of ranch dip on pizza dough. Add rotisserie chicken, and monzerella cheese on top and then drizzle with a couple of teaspoons of wing sauce.
Put back on to grill just untill cheese is mellted and dough is cooked through. YUMMMMMMY Enjoy
We love the Pizza dough! we make grilled pizza with it. Grill on one side til lightly brown. Flip over spread roasted garlic on crust add grilled onions and artichokes and gonganzola cheese. Close lid and grill until bottom is brown and cheese melted. Another favorite is grill one side, flip and add left over sliced cheese or chuck cut up (do not limit it to one) then add grilled or cooked chicken, close lid grill until brown on the bottom take off and top with Fresh Salsa, lettuce and tomatoes and dollops of sour cream.
enjoy!
kaiser rolls/ french Hamburger buns!!!!! with just a burger made with liquid smoke garlic salt and pepper and a few dried onion flakes, then cooked on the grill! cut the bun in half butter both sides and sprinkle garlic salt on it and toast on a pan on the stove!!! So much better than the “publix brand” buns found in the bread isle.
We also love the pizza dough. We don’t make or eat pizza without it. Our favorite thing to get is the French hamburger buns. We slice the bun and broil with provolone cheese on top until cheese is melted and the bun is a light brown. We grill chicken breast and top with bacon and our favorite toppings. Soo yummy. Awesome with baked beans.
my kids love to use the Italian bread to make pizza sandwiches (courtesy of an aprons recipe) – butter both sides of the bread; use pizza sauce, sliced mozz cheese, and toppings (we use pepperoni) and bake. yum!
french bread or bagette
1 pack of Italian seasoning
1 pack of Ranch dressing seasoning
1/2 to a full jar of peperoncini
large roast (no water)
crock pot it all over night for amazing Italian beef sandwiches!
Alright – I worked in the Publix bakery when I was in college (a few too many years ago) and I’ve got to say they have many yummy things, but my favorite is the chocolate dipped cream filled french fan. Oh my, SOooo good – and fattening too. They take a flaky fan shaped pastry (almost like an a elephant ear) pile butter cream on it – then they put another pastry on top making a sandwich. Next, they dip it half way in chocolate….. yummy. No, it won’t help get dinner on the table, and yes, it will blow your diet. But the days I really want to treat myself that’s what I get π
I like to buy the day old cinnamon rolls or sweet breads and make a French Toast Casserole. Cut up the bread, spread it out in a 9×13 pan. Mix together 6 eggs, 3c milk, 2ts vanilla and pour it over bread. Sprinkle with craisins. Refrigerate overnight. Bake in the AM at 350 for 45 minutes. When done, sprinkle with powdered sugar. YUMMY!
that sounds so good! That is breakfast this weekend! Thanks Julie!
we love to make chicken and broccoli calzones with grilled chicken, broccoli, cream of broccoli soup, mozz cheese and fresh garlic!! brush the outside with olive oil and sprinkle with parm cheese and italian seasoning! We love it!! and it makes so much we can eat on it more than one meal. being newlyweds we need meals that go the distance and are cheap!!!
oops meant to say we use the pizza dough for this one!! π
With the pizza dough, we like to make our own calzones and stuffed sandwiches. Just roll it out, fill with pizza toppings, cheese and dip into warm sauce. We also like to fill with ham and cheddar or thinly sliced steak, sauted onions and provolone cheese. Yummy!!!
A big time favorite in our house is the Special order Rainbow Bread it is very soft and delicious and has SUPER bright colors we order it about 2 days ahead of time and the kids love it, and the sandwiches are a huge it in the school cafeteria..
A golden loaf of Challah (egg) bread makes the best french toast!! Spray a casserole pan with non-stick (Pam) spray first. Mix a combination of brown sugar (1 cup), 1 tsp. of pumpkin pie spice and 1/2 cup of toasted pecans if you like nuts. Cover the bottom of the pan with this mixture after spraying it with the Pam. Cut the loaf into thick slices, dip into a mixture of 2 beaten eggs, 1 1/2 cup milk, 1tsp vanilla and 1 tsp cinnamon and layer the slices right on top of the brown sugar coating. Pour the rest of the egg/milk wash over the bread, cover and let sit overnight in the fridge. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden (watch to make sure it doesn’t overbrown) at 350 degrees and cook it on the middle or top rack. Serve with a drizzle of maple syrup (the brown sugar carmelizes, so it’s already sweet), or it’s fantastic with cinnamon apples on a chilly fall morning. Enjoy!
This sounds soooo simple but it is sooooooo yummy. It is not original in that I got it from a website. BUT you take a PUblix deli chicken, nice and hot, any flavor (BBQ is best for this), but some baked potatoes and aluminum foil. PUt a potato in aluminum foil, cut it open, put some of the torn off deli chicken (my kids LOVE THIS) in, then top with favorites, brown or black beans, some BBQ sauce, a half cut corn on the cob, and bake for an hour on 500 degrees. Then you can add yummy cheese, sour cream, you name it! Bacon is great, too!
OH Ha ha I was thinking deli…we do add some of the Hawaiian sweet rolls or ANY of the rolls and a cookie for dessert, many times, or the Publix frozen yogurt is great!
French toast with any of the breads is good too, but it’s been a while since we did that!
I have a recipe not for a meal though. An appetizer. It’s a Bruschetta Recipe.
2 lbs. of tomatoes (roma, heirloom or beefsteak – I have only used roma tomatoes. And I clean it all out and just use the outside not the whole tomato.)
1/2 fresh onion (I use red onions)
4 cloves fresh garlic
1 bunch fresh basil / 3-4 large leaves (add more or less to your taste)
4 T. evvo
sea salt/pepper
Ciabatta Bread (Publix is the only place locally I can find that has this bread)
Dice tomatoes as small as you can. About 1/4″. Try not to mush or break them either. Put them in a bowl. Finely chop the onion. Put that into the bowl also. Chop the garlic and add to the bowl. Chop/Chiffonade the basil and add. Add the evvo, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly and let set in the refrigerator for 30 minutes; longer if you can. I have noticed it tastes good right when you make it but tastes even better the longer it sets.
Cut the ciabatta bread into 1/4″ slices. You can either toast it in a toaster or under the broiler.
Once the bread is toasted and the bruschetta has set in the fridge for a time, it’s time to serve! Yum!!
Panini’s
2 slices of Italian Five Grain Bread
Boars Head Blazing Buffalo or Lemon Pepper Chicken
Boars Head Provolone Cheese
Bacon & Tomato with whatever condiment you prefer… Mayo or Mustard.
Saves me from paying the restaurant prices for a panini.
My favorite is the Five Grain bread. I sampled some a few months ago and fell in love with it! I use it w/some sliced roasted turkey, mustard, and lettuce for a Turkey Sandwich that is quick and healthy for my lunch at work!
Chicken Alfredo Pizza!! YUMMY!!
* 3/4 lb. boneless skinless chicken breast
* Jar Alfredo Sauce
* 1 ball pizza dough, from Publix Bakery !!
* 2 cups baby spinach, well washed and dried
* 1 cup grape tomatoes (can omit)
* 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
* Olive oil, for brushing crust
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. If you have a pizza stone, put it in to preheat.
Season the chicken with salt and pepper, to taste. Grill chicken on a grill pan until cooked through. Remove and dice. Set aside.
Flour work surface and roll pizza dough into a 13-inch circle. Carefully remove pizza stone from oven and put dough on top. Spread Alfredo sauce to cover the dough. Evenly top with the baby spinach, grape tomatoes, grilled chicken and the mozzarella cheese. Brush edge of crust with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Bake the pizza until crisp and golden, about 25 minutes. Remove from oven and enjoy!!
My favorite bakery recipe is a copycat of the Melting Pot Fondue Restaurant – Cheese Fondue:
I prefer to make it in an unsliced, fresh baked Sour Dough Round from the bakery, but you can use the pumpernickel round or White Mountain Bread Round
Ingredients:
* 1 bread round with inside removed and cut into cubes
*Equal Parts sharp cheddar and Emmanthaler (or Jarlsberg Swiss – which is cheaper) cheese – shredded, enough for about 1 1/2 to 2 cups
*about 1/3 cup beer
*1 clove garlic (optional)
*dash or two Worcestershire sauce
*about 1 teas. mustard powder
*dash cayenne pepper
Dippers-
*Bread cubes, apples, celery, carrots, broccoli, cooked chicken pieces, etc.
Directions:
Get the beer very hot (enough to melt the cheese)turn heat to low and then add cheese, stirring to achieve the desired consistency. (There are no rules here, just use your judgment to get a nice, creamy consistency and flavor). Add other ingredients and mix. Pour into hollowed out bread and use fondue skewers or forks to dip in your favorite foods.
This recipe is deceivingly simple and kids love it. Give it a try.
I love to decorate cakes, and I found out that I can buy the layer cakes for really cheap, and decorate them myself. I love to surprise my kids teachers with a special cake in a theme that they love for their birthday. It takes so much time to decorate, that getting the cake layers already cooked saves me so much time! I love Publix.
We love the pizza dough too!
For my kids, I just make theirs with sauce, cheese and pepperoni.
For my husband and myself, I make a pesto pizza and ask the deli for the whole wheat dough which is just simply a loaf of their wheat bread that makes a wonderful whole wheat pizza crust.
Roll out dough as directed.
Add 1 layer of prepared pesto (I like the jarred kind at Publix near the spaghetti sauce).
Sprinkle with 1 8 ounce drained can of pineapple tidbits.
Chop up 5 slices of canadian bacon and sprinkle on top of the pizza.
Slice and finely dice 1/4 of a large purple onion and sprinkle around the pizza.
Finally, top with 1/2-1 whole bag of mozarella cheese.
Bake according to pizza dough directions.
I know it sounds OVERLY simple, but it’s my lunch when the kids are at school more often than I care to admit… π
I get the five grain baton, I slice it and drizzle with olive oil and dipping spices and put it under the broiler. Then I slice a few tomatoes, sprinkle them with a little salt, grab a few fresh basil leaves from the plants I conveniently planted right outside my front door and some mozzarella and have little mini open-face tomato and mozzarella sandwiches. MMMMMMMMMMM.
I love making homemade cuban sandwiches using sliced ham, shredded or sliced pork (usually mine comes from leftovers, a Hormel heat and serve, or the Publix brand sliced seasoned pork at the deli counter), swiss or provalone cheese, dill pickle rounds and yellow mustard. Layer the ingredients on your bread, butter the outsides and bake in a screaming hot oven for 15 minutes with a heavy pan on top to press them down. This way you get both sides of the bread nice and crispy. Or, just use one of those nice panini press gadgets π
Either I use the bakery cuban bread loaf (SO GOOD) but when other bread items are on sale I modify the recipe. When it’s hoagie rolls that are on sale, I make individual cubans, when it’s water rolls I make ‘cubanitos’.
Pizza Dough. BBQ Shrimp, Bacon and Blue cheese pizza. Flatten out the pizza crust mix 1 cup of BBQ sauce with 1/2 pound of shrimp spread on the crust. Top with 3/4 cup mozzarella or 1 ball fresh mozzarella and 1/4 Blue cheese.
I just love their chocolate overload cake for dessert!
Cheese Dip Bread Bowl
8 oz cream cheese β softened
12 oz sour cream
16 oz cheddar cheese
Bread bowl (cut out bread and save to serve)
Mix all ingredients together and put in bread bowl. Double wrap in aluminum foil and bake at 350 for 2 hours. IF in a bind, you can usually serve after 1 hour.
My favorite bread bowl to use is the semolina.
well i’m in south florida and lucky enough that my publix bakery carries cuban pastries so I get the ham croquetes and make them into sandwiches this is suppose to be done with cuban bread… so it’s pan con croquetas but I don’t care too much for their cuban bread so instead I use the publix 5 grain italian bread which is yummy… u slice it put the croquete on it with lime juice and you can put it on the george foreman grill to flatten it and toast it a bit… the kids love it!!! it’s basically like a warm creamy ham sandwich yummy!
I love meatball hoagie nights!!! I use any of the sauces that were on sale recently, ground turkey (or premade meatballs in the freezer case) a few slices of fresh mozzarella and fresh baked hoagie rolls from the Publix bakery. Extremely quick and oh so yummy!!!!!!
My hubby’s favorite meal I make utilizing something from the Publix deli is a giant calzone. I buy the deli pizza dough and roll it out like a pizza. I then take the following ingredients and place them on one half of the rolled out dough. Then I make meatballs, cook them, and slice them up, then place in the calzone. I also mix ricotta cheese and shredded italian cheese and put that into the calzone along with some pizza/ spaghetti sauce. Sprinkle some italian seasoning/ oregano and some parmesan cheese over everything. Fold the dough over the ingredients and pinch seams so the filling is completely sealed inside. Cook in 350 degree oven til the calzone is a golden brown color.
Serve a bowl of sauce along side the calzone for dipping.
Cake. Anything goes with Cake. Cakes aren’t just for dessert! I’m a connoisseur of icing and Publix by far has THE BEST icing anywhere!
Can’t beat Royal icing though.
I LOVE the Publix bakery! I was SO excited when they expanded into Alabama!
I love to take the Publix French or Cuban bread, slice it into rounds of about 1 -1 1/2 in. thick each, spread each slice with melted butter, sprinkle some garlic & Romano cheese on it (McCormick garlic bread sprinkle is good!), stick it in the oven, and toast them ’til they’re lightly or medium brown. Yummy with lasagna, spaghetti, or anything Italian! They’re a good crowd pleaser, too! π
I honestly don’t know what this is called, but this is something my husband makes. We call it “Tiles”.
Take the pizza dough and knead it out into a rectangle.
Brush it lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian seasoning, finely chopped garlic, and Parmesan cheese. Then we top it with thinly sliced tomatoes (husband likes THINLY sliced limes). It is our Sunday treat! Mmm…I’m going to have to make it our Wednesday treat! I want it now! haha
I got so excited thinking about it I forgot to tell you how to cook it! Whoops!
Bake 15 minutes at 450!
ENjoy!
This is easy. We love any kind of bread (french bread especially). I always have some left over after eating it plain, making a sandwich or garlic bread. I always have some fruit from thier wonderful produce (bananna’s/apples/peaches-do really well for this) I make a wonderful bread pudding in the crockpot. Depending on how much bread you have left over you can divide this recipe. I always make the whole thing because my family goes in for seconds. Spray your crockpot with non-stick spray, in another bowl mix these ingredients :3 large eggs,3 and 1/2 cups milk, 2 tsp vanilla,1 tsp ground cinnammon,1/2 tsp salt,1/4 cup melted butter or margarine,3 cups of cubed bread,3/4 cup brown sugar,1/2 cup raisins (optional) and one cup of fresh fruit, I love diced apples without the skin (peeled/cored/skinned) mix well and then add to greased crockpot, cook for 3 hours on high or until when you insert knife in center it comes out clean. You can substitue the apples for banannas, peaches, blueberries. You can also use leftover publix doughnuts, raisin bread, or croissants. Publix bakery is the best. You can make a simple icing to top it with milk and powdered sugar, or you can top it with vanilla ice cream…I really love to use this recipe and hope you will enjoy it too.
We love the Breakfast Bread made into french toast topped with honey, syrup or just cream cheese!
Warm turkey hoagies.. take sub buns and add mayo, sliced Boars head turkey, provolone cheese, sliced tomotaes and lettuce. Wrap in waxed paper, then aluminum foil. Put in a 350F oven for about 15-20 minutes until it is nice and warm and the cheese is melted. My kids beg for these sandwiches. For dessert my kids ask for the cinnamon twist donuts. Yummy!
For breakfast they love the breakfast bread with butter.
ANY of the fresh baked crsty type breads are HITS around here, but on a simple day i take the skinny loaf of either the 5 grain or french, slice on a diagonal, top with a little fresh shaved parmesan(from the Publix deli of course), heat a little in the toaster oven, then dip in a fabulous concoction of olive oil and spices..MMM so simple and honestly a meal enogh for me-a glass of white wine completes it! of course if your hubby wants more then go ahead and add some oil and italian spices marinated roasted chicken and a little tomato to the top of the bread slices!
My mouth is watering at all these fabulous recipes…I will have to copy & paste this whole page!
I love everything from the Publix bakery…the cakes, the fresh breads, the cookies…but my biggest helper in the kitchen is, of course, the pizza dough. I make calzones: broccoli & mozzarella for me, spinach & ricotta for hubby. I use frozen broccoli & spinach, thaw & drain, and saute in butter with a little garlic, salt & pepper. I mix the spinach with ricotta & parmesan cheeses. Roll the dough out into a circle, place filling on half and pull other half over to cover, crimp/roll edges. Brush with olive oil & sprinkle with parmesan, bake at 400 for 20-25 mins. Serve with marinara on the side. Mangia!
Favorite is definitely the pizza dough. My husband loves make pizza and calzones and cooking on our grill. Tip for reducing grease from pepperoni— microwave on top of 2 papertowels for 20 secs — the paper towel will soak up the excess grease. Then we top our pizza with and cook on the grill — so yummy!
Hands down–publix yellow cake with strawberry filling and whipped cream icing. It can be a meal in and of itself–although not exactly healthy! LOL
I *love* publix bakery. This one is weight watchers friendly. It’s pretty simple, but a great substitute for pizza.
Grab a baguette, slice it down the middle and in half.
On each of the four sections, spread some either pizza sauce or marinara sauce (whatever you have stocked or whatever’s on sale!)
Sprinkle on some basil
And, if you want, load it up like other pizzas. Spread a little cheese, maybe some pepperoni.
Bake it in the oven at 350, toasting the bread and melting the cheese/cooking the pepperoni.
And your own french bread pizza.
I use these as party hors d’oeuvres, but slice them into many pieces after they come out of the oven.
I have four boys and a husband that don’t like to wait to eat. Their absolute favorite meal is when I buy the hot rotisserie chicken from Publix. Then when I get home I cook up some Broccoli and Cheese Au Gratin rice mix and add in pieces of the chicken and a can of drained peas. “IT ROCKS” as my boys would say π
I make a chicken pesto alfredo pizza.
I use leftovers from a rotisserie chicken, either prepared or homemade pesto, pizza dough and then a little jarred alfredo sauce bought super cheap during a B1G1 deal. It is delicious!
I love to get the 5 grain Italian or the Chicago hard rolls and make fried pork loin sandwiches. Just flatten boneless pork loin chops (I make my own from the big pork loin from sam’s) to about 1/4″ then dredge in seasoned flour fry in about 1/2 inch oil. Then you can add cheese, pickels, mustard, ketchup, grilled or raw onions or what ever you want. I like mine with just cheese.
We love fondue night! Publix french or cuban bread makes great dippers for the cheese fondue. The breakfast bread or even the sour cream cakes are great dipped in chocolate fondue! Use fruit and vegetables for additional dippers and you have a great meat-free meal.
My boys love making their own pizzas. I just divide up the Publix bakery pizza dough and let them have fun mashing it out and adding the toppings!
My husband I love to get their sourdough presliced bread (or Chicago Italian if they’re out of the sourdough) and a block of GruyΓ¨re. It’s our splurge meal when we want something special but simple. Makes the most delicious grilled cheese sandwich!
I’ve got a wonderful EASY breakfast recipe idea!
CRANBERRY APPLE WALNUT FRENCH TOAST
At Publix, buy “Cranberry Walnut Bread”(yummo) OR any kind of Publix fresh hearty type bakery bread.
Make a “sandwich” using two pieces of the bread that has been spread with softened cream cheese AND a small dollup of canned pie filling such as apple.
Dip the “sandwich” into a combo of beaten egg & milk & cinnamon. Pan fry in a smidge of butter till golden on both sides. Iβ₯french toast & Iβ₯Publix!
I love their Yo-Yo’s π Publix has the best frosting!
My favorite is the french loaf. I make french dip sandwiches. I know it seems like a waste but, I use 2 packets of salisbury steak seasoning from the hamburger helper boxes. I use the noodles later. 1 large pot roast with the seasoning about 16oz of beef broth 1 small or 1/2 large onion and pepper cooked all day. than shred I leave it in the broth till I get ready to make the sandwiches. Toast bread add mayo and provolone cheese add roast use the drippings for dipping your sandwiches in. Yum may make tomorrow
We also love the pizza crust! It is the best for homemade! But the chocolate iced doughnuts are to die for! mmmmmmmmmm
My favorite is also the pizza dough…I always have some on hand, and if we don’t end up using it for a pizza, I love using it for a quick dessert. It’s awesome spread with cream cheese and berries (especially using all the free cream cheese!!) or, my personal, sinful favorite…in fried balls dusted with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce. OH. MY. GOODNESS.
We love the pizza dough….My 15 year old girl loves to have her girl friends over and get a container of frosty. Yes one whole container of frosty to eat while watching movies….publix sells their frosty!!! =)
I love to get Publix desserts and add my own touch- like the guava bread pudding with hot caramel or dulce de leche….
I love Publix’ Italian bread. Slice it open, butter it. Get a roll of breakfast sausage and some pepper jack cheese. Brown the sausage, and lay it in the bread. Spread the cheese on and wrap in a aluminum foil. Toast in the oven for about 20 min on about 325, just to let the cheese melt up nice.
You can serve it with soup for lunch or with scrambled eggs for breakfast. You can also sub hamburger for sausage.
Yummy!
Anykind of publix cake. We love their ice cream cakes and the b’day cakes of course!
The half pies!! Perfect for Smaller families!!
Pepperoni Bread
1 ball of dough from the bakery
1 half pound Boar’s Head Sliced Deli Pepperoni
1 Block of Sharp Provolone, shredded
Roll out your dough in a rectangle
Top with pepperoni, shredded cheese, black pepper and parmesan.
Roll up like a jelly roll, place seam side down on cookie tray and bake @ 350 degree’s until the bread is done. Baste top of bread with any oil from pepperoni…Mmmmm…Delicious!
This recipe is based on dish from a restaurant (The Wellshire Inn) that I worked at in Denver years ago. It was hands-down the favorite on the breakfast menu and I loved it so much that I figured out how to do it myself. You basically use melted ice cream in place of the milk in a standard french toast recipe. Also, it is really sweet, so the sourdough bread is a must!
Haagen-Daaz Cinnamon Vanilla Sourdough French Toast
1 pint Haagen-Daaz Cinnamon Vanilla ice cream
4 eggs
1 c. half and half
1 large loaf Pubix Sourdough bread, cut into slices (about 1/2 inch)
Oil or spray for cooking
Fresh berries for serving (I love raspberries, blueberries and strawberries for this recipe)
Melt the ice cream by letting it sit out or microwave until melted. Add the eggs and half and half. Beat until well combined.
Dip your slices of sourdough into ice cream/egg mixture and fry in a heated skillet until nice and brown on both sides.
Serve w/ fresh berries and warm maple syrup. Heavenly!!!
OH-MY_GOSH! I am going to dream of this recipe in my sleep! LOL! If I wake up tomorrow 10 pounds fatter it’ll be your fault! π I am deff making this for brunch on Sunday!
I am a huge fan of the marble cream cake-it is what I go for as my birthday cake!
We buy their French Bread and use it to make Grilled Chicken Paninis. We marniate the chicken in Italian Salad Dressing and then grill it. We cut the bread into sandwich size pieces and make a sandwich with pesto (fresh from the garden), tomatoes (also from the garden), spinach, and sliced mozzarella cheese. You can put whatever you like or have on hand. Then we stick it back on the grill and put a cast iron skillet on top of it. We then grill it until the cheese melts and the sandwich warms. It is delish! My favorite weekend lunch item!
I’m going to check out the bakery for any ideas when I go shopping this week, but this is the pizza that I’ve made not only for me and hubby (he LOVED it!), but also for a party and it was a HIT!
Grill 1-2 chicken breasts, depending on the size, and then cut into cubes (you can always use the rottiserie if you prefer). In another pan I saute pepper and onions with some olive oil until they’re soft. Meanwhile I have a pan going with Sausage (it’s easy because you just leave it covered on medium heat for about 8 minutes, flipping about 6 minutes in). I use my pizza stone and spread a little olive oil on it and then spread the dough. I put the pizza sauce on it (usually only 1/2 can or less, but it’s up to preference really) and then about half the mozzarella cheese I want on the pizza. On one half of the pizza I put the grilled chicken and peppers and onions and on the other I put the sausage possibly with some pepperoni, then top with the rest of the cheese (cheese is also up to preference, but I use alot lol). Then I follow the directions on the dough for oven temperature and time. It’s delicious! That way you can have on of each or everyone can have what they enjoy best (I like the chicken, hubby likes sausage/pepperoni).
I’ll have to come back here and leave a dessert recipe for you guys to try too! π
Without a doubt, my favorite is the yellow cake with buttercream icing – as much icing as possible!!!!!! I don’t even bake birthday cakes anymore, I just call and order.
Having 7 children, we absolutely love publix birthday cakes! Daddy would be happy with just the icing. We also like to buy french or cuban bread and make our own subs. Buy the sub dressing from the deli (when I commented on the big bag their sliced olives come in they told me they will even sell you the toppings to go on it). We’re also addicted to their cream filled (icing) long johns, they are great for weeks when we don’t get our icing fix!!!
Homemade hotpockets!
You can use the pizza dough, and either using a turnover maker or roll out the dough and cut it into squares.
Examples of fillings:
Ham and Cheddar
Turkey and Swiss
Broccoli and Cheese
Meatballs, mozzarella, and tomato sauce
Pepporoni, mozzarella, and tomato sauce
Blend of cheese and tomato sauce
Chicken and Cheese
BBQ sauce and Chicken
Don’t overfill, and seal the edges with a bit of water. Bake at 350F for about 20 min on a greased baking sheet.
You can then eat them then or freeze them for later for diy convenience food.
Soooo good, and the possibilities are endless!
Oops, Pepperoni not pepporoni.
Now you’ve made me hungrY!
We make stromboli using the pizza dough…roll it out like a pizza crust – maybe a little more oblong than round – add whatever you want to the center – we usually do 2… 1 with pizza sauce, cheeses and toppings and the other ham, turkey, cheese kind of thing… wrap the edges around and use 2 spatulas to transfer to baking sheet because it’s heavy – bake at 350 for 25 – 30 min or until it’s golden brown – so good…my husbands absolute favorite!
I love the pizza dough! I use it as a break from leftover night. Our favorite pizza is a (stockpile) BBQ (leftover)chicken pizza!!
Instead of pizza sauce, we use BBQ sauce from the stockpile. Take the leftover chicken from the week, debone (if necessary), mix w/ BBQ sauce and COVER the pizza crust with it! Add other veggies that you like. (we use onions and jalapenos) and top w/ shredded Monterrey Jack cheese. Bake until crust is done and cheese is melted!
Since my hubby takes leftovers every day for lunches, I try not to eat the exact same meal again another night in the week!! This way, noone is the wiser!
I get a loaf of sourdough bread from the bakery, and scoop out the middle. Then I make a french onion soup (I use one by allrecipes.com)
SOUP:
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups sliced onions
2 small cans beef broth
1 tablespoons dry sherry (optional)
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
salt and pepper to taste
2 or 3 slices provolone cheese
Melt butter with olive oil in an pot on medium heat. Add onions and continually stir until tender (don’t brown). Add beef broth, sherry and thyme. Season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 30 minutes. Ladle into the sourdough bowl and top with cheese. I stick it under the broiler (watch it carefully!) to melt the cheese. Since the loaves are usually large, my husband and I just share one. It’s sooo good.
Stuffed Pork Roast
3-5lb pork roast (center cut)
1 loaf Publix breakfeast bread, cubed and toasted
1/4 C apple juice or white wine
fresh parsley and sage, 1TBS chooped each
olive oil
salt and pepper
Preheat oven to 375. cut a slit thru the roasts center to hold stuffing being careful to not slice thru the sides. In a mixing bowl, combine the cubed toasted bread, fresh herbs and juice/wine. Stuff the roast and cover with olive oil. Sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper. Place on roasting rack in a pan. Roast in oven for 40-90 minutes until thermometer reads medium well (will finish cooking after out of oven). Remove roast and cover with foil for 10 minutes before carving. I ofter put carrots, onions and potatoes (tossed in olive oil and SP) on bottom of pan to roast too.
I love taking the regular Italian loaf bread and making my own croutons out of it.
As for the pizza dough we LOVE making dessert pizzas. There are so many you can make, fruit and icing, marshmellows and cinnamon, smores, all possibly served with ice cream. I think I know what we are doing for dessert tonight!
The pizza dough is the best. I always make garlic knots out of some of the dough.
My favorite thing from the bakery is their fresh buttercream, and whip cream icing they sell in the clear plastic containers. I guess its leftovers from the cake making. I usally make my own cupcakes and cakes and use this icing. It tastes just like those expensive cupcakes they sell that are so good but cost way to much! LOL I love this icing its deadly addictive. I know it puts on at least 5 lbs every time I buy it.
Our favorite is the birthday cakes. My kids request these every year. Even over my homemade cakes. I love the cheesecakes from the bakery they are soooo good
Our favorites from the bakery are the homemade pies and cookies. We get fat free cool whip and apple crumb and it delicioussssssss………
I like the tomato, cheese, and onion foggotta bread. I get this everytime I go just about. It has the dairy,fruit/veggie, & starch/bread:). It is a snack/meal of its own:).
From the publix bakery, I like to get a loaf of the fresh french bread. Then I proceed to make homemade french onion soup. I put the soup in a oven safe individual bowl with a big slice of french bread in the middle and top with a bunch of mozzerella cheese – then pop in the oven to broil the cheese. YUM!! I think I may have to make this next week, now that you have this pregnant mama craving it!
Sounds wonderful! And now this preggo is also craving it! If you want to share your soup recipe, I’d love it! I’ve never made it myself!
I love the cheesecakes from the bakery it is soooo good.
Mango KeyLime Pie!
If you like to make your own pizza- why note use the same dough to make a calzone? YUM! I’m from NY and where I grew up, there was an AWESOME Italian family with a ristorante that made the GREATEST calzones- whenever I visit home, I need one of those with some garlic knots- which you could also make with your pizza dough- roll into a snake, tie multiple knots, butter, garlic, and maybe a little parsley or oregano (depending on how you like yours) and a little pasta or marinara sauce for dipping- YUM! Heck, just make an italian feast- your favorite pizza, calzones, and garlic knots- FABULOUS!!
I love the French Country Raisin Pecan Bread w/ cream cheese. I like to brown gr beef w/ taco seasoning and make a taco sandwich. Take an Italian loaf slice it horozontal and hollow it out. Line the bottom half with American Cheese, fill w/ meat mixture, toast for 5-6 mins on 350.Add salsa or lettuce to taste.
Veggie Pizza

Your favorite veggies (broccoli, carrots, green onions and bell peppers are the best for this recipe)

Bake your pizza dough
Mix sour cream and ranch dressing mix together
Finely chop all veggies
When the pizza dough is ready, let cool and spread the sour cream/ranch mix onto the dough. Then top with all the veggies you chopped.

bbq chicken pizza
1 pkg bbq chicken (like curly’s)
1 pkg mozzrella shredded cheese
1 pkg publix pizza dough
roll out your dough, put it in pan
bake for about 8 mins @ 350
remove dough from oven top with chicken and cheese( spread it evenly)
Bake for additional 10 mins or until golden on the edges
this is awesome with a salad!!!
My husband and I love to use the Italian loaves. We get the regular size to make meatball subs and the thinner one to make bruschetta. A slice of bread brushed with EVOO and topped with a slice of fresh mozzarella cheese, tomato and finally a basil leaf. YUMM! Oh and their Onion Rye makes the most wonderful Rueben Sandwich!! Hmmm, I am realizing that we use the bakery breads for alot of things. The 5 grain makes yummy cheddar and apple grilled cheese sandwiches (fabulous for fall)! We use the either cuban for french loaves when we make a spicy shrimp dish. Bake the shrimp in a spicy cajun sauce and just pour it over halved and toasted bread. Serve it with a cold beer and it’s like your sitting on the beach in the gulf coast watching the water! Great. Now I’m hungry!
Publix Pizza Dough is great to make Foccacia Bread with, also. I use the Rosemary & Garlic Seasoning (sold in a 3 sectioned bottle in Bakery) The seasoning is also great to make dipping oil for the bread. Or use the bread to make some chicken, provolone and pepperoni paninis.
Be sure to pick up some of their yummy cannolis or tiramisu to complete your meal. Or just buy those and eat them for dinner. π
My favorite thing to make with Publix french bread is french bread pizza.. I just use any red sauce I have in the house and some mozzarella cheese and whatever toppings I have in the house.
I cut the bread in half and toast it in my toaster offer for a few minutes so it is a little crunchy then I put the sauce, cheese and toppings on it and put it back in the toaster oven at 350 for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly. I love it and someones my husband and I eat it for several days in a row because it is great!
Thank you so much for these ideas!!!! I have to say that I have never bought anything from the bakery. My bakery is tucked away in a corner somewhere and I dont even have to walk by it, the same with the deli. I am now going to make it a habit to check it out and I am looking forward to trying the pizza dough along with a ton of others that have been mentioned!!!
I never shop in the Bakery. Its tucked away in a corner somewhere, lol. I cant wait for my next shopping trip to see what they have!!!
sorry for the double post. My computer said that the first one didnt go through
Italian Zeppolis are my families favorite thing to make with the pizza dough! They are addictive and very easy to make. You take the Publix dough and pull off pieces and form into balls and give each ball a tiny tug to lengthen and then drop them into hot vegetable oil (they expand when cooking so don’t make the pieces too big). In a paper bag place powdered sugar and cinnamon. As soon as the zeppolis are done you take them straight from the pan and drop them into the bag and shake. I always give my boys their own paper bag of powdered sugar/cinnamon with their own batch of 5 each because re-dipping them in the powdered sugar is a big part of the yummy fun of them! Enjoy!
One of our favorites recipes is Homemade Calzones! They taste just as good as the ones you can get from Sbarro…if not even better! They are also healthier for you! Here’s how you make them:
1 pkg Publix Pizza Dough
Any fillings you want, such as:
Cooked ground turkey/beef
Pepperoni
Cheese
Peppers
Onions
Olives
Tomatoes
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
1 cup of marinara sauce
Grated Parmesan cheese
Take the pizza dough and divide it into two sections (my husband and I like to make BIG calzones). Roll it out flat so that there is enough dough to bring up over the sides (and close at the top when you are finished). Spread marinara sauce on the dough (or don’t and save it for dipping!) Sprinkle meat, cheese, veggies, and any other seasonings on top of the dough. Bring the dough up over the sides and pinch shut on top (so that everything is enclosed). Sprinkle top of calzone with Italian seasoning and extra cheese.
Put in the over at 400 degrees and cook until dough is golden brown on top and bottom (this will vary between ovens…should be longer than 20 min. or less).
Heat up marinara sauce on the side and then sprinkle Parmesan cheese in it. Use it as a dipping sauce for your homemade calzone! Yum!
We just made these the other night and it was delicious!
Thanks!
Heather P.
I love making panninis with their unbelievable bread. Any one of a number of crusty breads will work- I usually just grab what’s on sale. I get some chicken tenders from the bakery and some fresh mozzarella from the deli and some sundried tomato pesto (sometimes I substitute pesto if I have it on hand instead)
Simply cut the bread horizontally in 6 inch sections, spread the pesto on one side of bread, place a layer of cheese, chicken fingers then another layer of cheese and pesto on the bread. Spray the outside of the sandwich with spray butter and throw it in the pannini maker (or the George Foreman, that’s what I use) until it’s lightly browned on the outside and the cheese is melted.
Enjoy!
I would definitely recommend getting the Italian bread in the bakery. It is delicious just for a dip in classic olive oil, pepper, and parmesaen cheese. Also if you spread some mozzarella cheese all over it and broil it till crisp. It is good anyway. Another good easy recipe is to use it for a sandwich. I toast the bread then butter it. I make a sandwich with honey maple turkey (Boar’s Head), medium chedder cheese, and Boar’s Head Sandwich pepperoni. It is also delicious to dip in the olive oil dip I mentioned above.
My favorite is actually an Apron’s recipe (I modified just a bit to suit my cooking style) but it is just like the yummy garlic rolls you get in the restaurants.
8 bakery potato rolls
6oz mozzarella cheese
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
4tsp butter
aluminum foil
Heat oven to 450F. Mix butter and garlic. Cut an X in the top of each roll. Stuff rolls with the butter/garlic and cheese. Wrap in the foil. Bake for 15 minutes.
Super easy!
Its so simple, but I love their French Bread with Sesame Seeds w whipped butter. I have that as a sole breakfast sometimes.
I love to get their homestyle white bread unsliced for French toast. I slice into 1/4-1/2″ slices, dip it in the regular egg/milk mixture, and cook it in some butter on the stove. Since I love fall food, my favorite thing to do is use pumpkin pie spice instead of cinnamon–it makes it feel like fall even when it’s 90 degrees out!
I love the little petit-fours. I get just one and eat it on the way home from my shopping trip. It is a little indulgence that is just for me!!
I love to top sliced baguette pieces with a combination (melted together on the stove-top) of one block of cream cheese, seasoned salt, mild sausage (eyeball it, but close to a lb, you want it very thick) and steak sauce or marinade to taste. Once it comes together top the pieces of bread and you have a simple meal, or an appetizer that’s yummy and hearty!
PIZZA!!!
mmm…the carrot cake bar is the best!
I love to take the publix hamburger buns and make a fantastic hamburger. I like to grill the burger meat and add the southwest sauce on top.
We love to get roast beef from the deli and some french bread from the bakery. We pan fry the roast beef with some mushrooms and onions. Put it on the french bread with a good handful of mozzarella cheese, and you have yourself a terrific “cheese steak” sandwich!
I love their pumpernickel bread (uncut) for spinach dip!
1 pkg (10oz) Frozen Chopped Spinach, thawed and drained
1 c. Sour Cream
1 c. Hellmann’s Light Mayo
1 Bunch of Scallions
1 pkg (1.4oz) Knorr Vegetable Soup & Recipe Mix
1 can (8oz) Water Chestnuts, drained and chopped (optional)
1 Large Unsliced Oval or Round Pumpernickel
In medium bowl stir all ingreadients until well mixed. Cover; chill for 2 hours or overnight to blend flavors.
Stir before serving. Hollow out bread and spoon spinach dip into bread.
Yummy!
Ok..ok…so I know its not a recipe BUT…I just love their cakes! They are beautiful and I have never had a bad cake from them π
I came up with this Cheesy Portabello Bread
Split Italian loaf lengthwise
Step 1: spread with a thin layer of prepared pesto sauce
Step 2: next put sliced provolone cheese
Step 3: lay out sliced portabello mushrooms which have been marinated in italian dressing either overnight or for several hours earlier
Step 4: top with shredded mozzarella cheese
Bake in 375 degree oven for about 20 minutes or until bubbly
If desired, place in broiler and watch carefully for a few minutes to brown the top layer of cheese a little more
Remove from oven and serve immediately
This is also great left over and reheated (if there’s any left)
Hi,
Love your site. It has really helped me save tons over the last few months!
My family loves french toast made with Publix Challah bread. I cut it into thick slices, dip it in a mixture of 3 eggs, milk, cinnamon, and a teaspoon of vanilla bean paste. Cook until cripsy on both sides on an electric griddle, and serve with powdered sugar sprinkled on it, berries or bananas and syrup. The Challah is slightly sweet, so it makes the best French toast. A lady in the bakery suggested it about a year ago, and it is the only bread I use for that dish now.
Thanks!
With a 5 year old and 4 year old, our favorite thing from the Publix Bakery is their fresh bagels! We make bagel pizzas with them every couple weeks. They are quick, easy, and super yummy!
We top them with Prego speghetti sauce, then pile on bacon bits, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, then sprinkle italian seasoning on top. I recently discovered mini pepperoni in my Publix, so next time we will try those too! We pop them in the oven on broil for about 3-5 minutes just to melt the cheese and taddaaa!!! Dinner is served! =-)
Well my absolute favorite is the Cranberry Orange Scones at the Publix Bakery. The trouble is I didn’t have them on hand when I wanted them! That is until recently. I was talking to the baker at my store and he told be while they are indeed fresh baked at the store, the scones are actually made at a Publix plant in Lakeland, FL. He said they were shipped frozen to the store and prepped and baked at each store. I asked if they sold them frozen and he said they sure do! So I used my $1.00 of bakery coupon to by four of them. I got them sitting in my freezer now. (At least 2 of them are still there)
After thawing and cooking in a 350 oven for 12 – 15 minutes, I can enjoy fresh baked scones in the morning without leaving the house.
It makes for a really enjoyable weekend coffee break.
thanks for posting! I love scones.
It is always a treat at parties or even for a quick weeknight meal to make Southwest Chicken Chipotle sandwiches. I simply purchase Publix’s fresh french bread and top it off with a mixture of 1 can of chicken(in the tuna aisle), mayo, cheese, and Mrs. Dash’s Southwest Chipotle seasoning. Spread the mixture on slices of the french bread, top it off with more cheese, and pop it in hte oven on 350 degrees for a few minutes (enough to melt the cheese and make the bread toasty). This is always a hit at parties. The trick is to serve it warm, though. SO YUMMY!!! Keeps them coming back for more!
Hey Michelle,
My family loves the freshly made cuban bread from the Publix bakery. We love to make breakfast with it. We make scrambled eggs w/refried beans on top of the cuban bread. It’s very simple and quick to make and it’s soooooo gooooood! Open a can of refried beans and place them in a pot on the stove – heat them up for a few minutes. While they are heating up, take a loaf of the cuban bread and slice it in half. Spread butter on each half. Broil it for a couple of minutes, but watch it closely. Remove it from the oven and spread a thin layer of refried beans on top. Place it back in the oven for a couple more minutes. While that is broiling – scramble your eggs. Remove the bread from the oven and breakfast is served. If you’d rather bake than broil, set your oven to 425 degrees. Total time 10 mins.
I hope you try it and that your family will love it – my family loves this breakfast. It’s a cheap but fabulous meal too.
I am all about some White Mountain Bread, sliced. It makes the BEST, hear me, THE BEST panini E.V.E.R. I use some cheese and meat (Boar’s Head from the deli!!) – turkey and cheddar, ham and pepper jack, rotisserie chicken/jarred pesto and provolone – butter that bread and put it to the test. It is seven kinds of awesome! I eat it more than I should. I buy the bread EVERY week. My family loves this meal and it takes all of about 5 mins to make. Put ya a little spring mix with some raspberry vinaigrette on the side and you look all gourmet and stuff. Get creative with the meat and cheese combos… use some of the Boar’s Heads spreads…. chipotle mayo, cilantro-lime sour cream cut with a little buttermilk to thin it out a touch. The possibilities are endless… not unlike this comment. Ha
I love making grilled sandwiches with their hoagie rolls or French rolls. The best thing is with grilled veggies and a bit of mozzarella cheese……yummy!
I love to make croutons with any leftover french bread from the bakery. All you need is olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper! So easy!
Greek Pizza!
1 publix pizza dough
2 olive oil
1/3 cup basil pesto
2 cups mozzarella cheese
2 med tomatoes sliced
1/2 red onion sliced
1 package feta cheese
slices black olives
Spread dough onto pizza pan. Drizzle dough with olive oil and then spread on the pesto. Cover entire pizza with mozzarella chesse. Then place tomates and onions all over pizza and sprinkle with balck olives. Finish off with Feta cheese…Oh so yummy. It’s a must at any ladies night!
Bake at 400 for 30-40 minutes!
hehe…sorry, not very creative but I LOVE their hoagies … just picked some up on my way home from work to make subs for dinner (Survivor night!) … they have THE VERY BEST bread in my opinion …
I am a horrible cook- I wouldn’t even begin to share my ideas with you, but thank you everyone for the great cooking tips!
Ok, my #1 favorite thing from the Bakery the FREE cookies that my kids devour and it gives me 10 minutes of unadulterated shopping Bliss, then the cookie is done and reality kicks back in leaving me dreaming of the cookie that is filled with icing and covered in chocolate, ummmmm! A girl can dream!
The Publix Italian bread makes a terrific panini. Lightly coat all side of the bread with butter or mayo. Put one piece in a warm skillet. Top with Fresh Motzerella, Tomato, basil, and Turkey. Then add another piece of bread. Bake like a grilled cheese, but put a heavy pan on top to flatten. YUMMO!
All you guys have given me so many ideas just reading the responses! i love being a part of this community as we are always learning from each other…. just wish i could share as much as i learn.
oh, hands down… Strawberry double layer cake with fresh strawberry icing… i could eat this everyday!!!
I love the fact that when something is out of season, say the sweet potato pecan strudel pie that you can ask and they will make you one. Try that with any meal and that’s the thing that will get attention. It’s great and so is your website. Thanks for everything.
I love the donuts….they are excellent “meal replacement bars”! Better than a Slim Fast bar–by far π
I love the pizza dough!
I make italian bread with dipping spices.
Let the dough rise for 30 minutes. Pour a tablespoon of olive oil on the dough and knead into the dough. Add a touch of Jane’s crazy salt to the dough. Knead a bit more and “pop” any air pockets. Form into an oval shape and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
Slice bread. Serve with olive oil for dipping. Add Alessi’s dipping spices to the oil.
Enjoy!
It is better than eating at Carrabba’s!!
My kids love to Get there fresh made Chocolate chip cookies and I take two cookies and put A blob of ice cream in the middle to make some homemade ice cream sandwiches!
sliced italian bread leftover from the night before….spread pimento cheese, add a leftover piece of bacon, grill to make the best panini ever!!
I’m with you Michelle. Pizza is a every Saturday night dinner for our “family night”.
Publix Dough
Moz. cheese
Sauce
Italian Seasoning
garlic
Grated Cheese
(my kids are cheese pizza kids but you can add whatever you want)
We mix the Italian seasoning and garlic seasoning in the dough and roll it out on to a cookie sheet and put the sauce on it and than the grated cheese and moz. cheese.
cook at 400 for 16 mins.
I like to make french toast out of their breakfast bread. It has nuts and fruits baked into the bread. Just prepare like your typical french toast. When done cooking just add a pat of butter and syrup or sprinkle with powered sugar and cinnamon. SO yummy!!
Roll the pizza dough into small balls (like meatballs) and brush on a mixture of butter and garlic (I use a stick of melted butter and about 10 cloves of garlic, but use as much as you like and reserve the rest for later!). Put them on a cookie sheet about an inch apart and sprinkle with freshly grated parmagiano reggiano cheese. Bake on 400 for about 20 minutes (or until they are lightly browned and the cheese is melted). Brush the rest of the butter/garlic mixture on them and serve.
I love their Breakfast Bread. We toast it lightly and eat it with cheese as a snack.
When I was younger, we lived in Florida for a while. We would go to Publix and get cookies from the bakery. I used to get the black and white cookies. I always wish we had a publix around when we moved to SC. I always thought of how good the cookies were. When we finally got a publix, it was on the other side of town and I would drive that far just to go.(they have the best fruit too). And sometimes I would treat myself to one. Perfect mix of vanilla icing and chocolate icing on top of a cake like cookie. It reminds me of my childhood. Yummy, I wish I had one now.
There is nothing that I don’t love from the Publix bakery! We used to get the “Chocolate Overload” cake all the time while I was teaching high school band – definitely good therapy! Birthday’s aren’t the same without a Publix birthday cake, and I also love their breads.
We love to make Panini’s with their bakery breads. Using portobello mushrooms, onions ,bell peppers, sliced cheese and Baja Chipotle Marinade from Lawry’s. Sometimes we add some sliced ham.
Every time we go shopping we stopped at the bakery and get something. Nothing beats the smell of a freshly bake bread. (any kind)We buy pizza dough, French bread, pumpernickel bread … but the best thing from the bakery is the birthday chocolate cake …. it looks so beautiful and tasted even BETTER!
ONEof our favorite things to make is homemade donuts. I take the pizza dough and roll it out to 1/2 inch thick. I use a 2 inch biscuit cutter & cut out docut then use a 1 inch to cut out center.
I fry them in about 2 inches of eqaul parts vegetable oil and olive oil after it reaches 375 degrees. I fry them unitl they are pale in color, just lightly browned. About 40 seconds or so.
I roll some of the donuts in cinnamon & sugar, nutella, or whatever topping you choose.
Sub Rolls. The bags of 5 but you gotta love Publix for splitting bags.
We grill 6 chicken breasts only seasoning with salt and pepper and olive oil.
Cut them into squares, slivers, or leave them whole.
Saute 2 medium white onions in a little oil or butter, until caramelized.
Make a sandwich with the chicken and the perfectly sized Publix bakery rolls, put on a slice a White American Cheese and top with heated bacon pieces. My husband uses mayo, I don’t.
Yum π
I too LOVE to make “almost veggie” pizza from their pizza dough. I even bought extra when it was on sale and froze it. It worked beautifully. I use a pizza stone and put on Ragu pizza sauce, and lots of Mozzorella and grated parmesan cheese. One side (the one for the kids) is done. On the other I put a layer of turkey pepperoni, sliced Vigo marinated mushrooms, sliced Lindsay olives stuffed with jalapenos, diced red peppers -(from my freezer in the winter),slices of red onion and tomato slices which I sprinkle with grated parmesan. I bake it, and my husband says it is as good as Donatos. The Turkey pepperoni adds the meat but with very few calories. The mushrooms and olives MAKE the pizza and of course they are available at Publix
We also love to make home made pizzas! we’ve made about every combination you can think of. Your average veggie lovers pizza, pepperoni, etc.. we have made Chicken Alfredo using Ragu Alfredo sauce, italian seasoning, garlic powder, sliced mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, parmesan and Fast Fixin’s Popcorn chicken. YUMMO!!!
Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, one of our favorite things is a nice hot bowl of chili with a big slice of Publix’s fresh baked Mountain Bread slathered with a thick layer of butter on it. You don’t even need a spoon, just use the bread. YUM!!!
Our closest publix is a Greenwise. They sell the best whole grain pizza dough. Our favorite pizza made with it is simple, quick, inexpensive and tastes SO “fancy”. Plus, the fact the whole grain dough gives it and extra something,…. Yum yum
Greek pizza a la Gigi (my nickname)
I am not big on measurements when I cook,but I’ll give it a shot…
What you will need:
1 publix already made pizza dough.
1.5/2 cups of crumbled feta cheese.
1/2 can of sliced black olives
1/3 of a large red onion sliced thin.
1 handful of cherry tomatoes sliced in half
Oregano
Olive oil
1.preheat oven to 400 degrees
2.Roll out dough and place onto a cookie sheet.
3. Top with cheese, olives, onions, tomatoes.
4. Sprinkle oregano all over to taste as well as salt and pepper to taste.
5. Drizzle olive oil all over the pizza.
6. Bake about 12-14 minutes.
And voilΓ ! You will have one of the best pizza’s you’ve ever tasted.
Bon apetit!!
I love their french bread loaves. We get them sliced to dip into flavored oils when guests come, or spread hummus or crock-pot baked brie on. I slice some up and toast it and use it on homemade French onion soup. Or make garlic bread with it. And now they have a wheat version, so I can fool myself that I’m being healthy while spreading brie on it! π
I like the sliced italian bread…spread a little bit of mayo on, some ham or turkey, and a roasted red bell pepper from the jar. This is especially a great way to use up leftover meat when you’re at the point of being tired of eating it!
i LOVE the sliced italian bread! its so good all by its lonesome. i also like to use it for garlic bread and it makes an AWESOME and FAST grilled cheese. we like to butter both sides and put big hunk of cheese so that it oozes out and melts to outside of bread- heres the kicker we put it in our george forman! makes like panini type sandwich! they are soooo good i ate one everyday for 3 months straight! hubby likes to put roastbeef and mozzarella panini. i love it!
We often make Cuban sandwiches with the Cuban or French Bread. Get sliced ham and Mojo pork from the deli (or you can use leftover prk roast – yum!), swiss cheese, dijon mustard, and dill pickles….stack it all together and press in a cast iron skillet or panini press! Yummy and easy!
My favorite thing to make is Bruschetta using Mountain White Bread from the Publix Bakery. Crush 2-3 cloves of garlic into 1/2 cup olive oil. Brush onto both sides of 5-6 slices mountain white bread. Grill or broil both sides until lightly toasted. Meanwhile mix together 1-2 diced tomaotes, 1-2 tbls fresh basil, 1-2 tbls balsamic vinegar, 1-2 tlbs extra virgin olive oil, 1 clove crushed garlic and salt and pepper to taste. Top toasted bread with tomato mixture.
This is so good we sometimes eat it for dinner with nothing else!
Best Publix Bakery recipe:
My family’s favorite crock pot recipe ever!
Italian Crock Pot Sandwiches
Cook in crockpot on high for about 5 – 6 hours:
1 boston butt
1 envelope of Good Seasons dressing mix
1 cup of beef broth
1/2 jar of pepperocini peppers (plus at least 1/2 jar of the juice)
When meat is done, pull apart with fork and remove any bones. Split one PUBLIX BAKERY KAISER ROLL in half. Place meat on PUBLIX KAISER ROLL, top with one slice of swiss cheese and broil until cheese is melted or bubbly and roll is a bit browned. Serve hot with au jus and pepperocinis on side.
My family LOVES this recipe! Even the pickiest eater goes back for seconds. My husband and a couple of my boys like to put extra pepperocini on their sandwiches to add a bit of *kick.*
Enjoy!
We tried this at publix, it was one of their apron recipies. Very Good!!!
I use the Original Recipe Dinner Rolls to make Mushroom and Swiss Sliders. The recipe is from the Pioneer Woman–modified slightly. It’s our favorite new recipe. The Sliders fit perfect on the yummy rolls.
1 lb lean ground beef
1 cup white onion–chopped finely
1 cup baby bellas–chopped finely
Swiss cheese–each slice cut into 4 squares
salt, pepper, garlic powder for seasoning
butter for sauteeing the veggies and frying the burgers
mayo, ketchup and cayenne
Combine ground beef and seasonings and form small patties. Saute onions in butter for 5 minutes in a large pan. Add mushrooms and cook with onions until all the moisture is out. Remove onions and mushrooms. Add more butter and fry the burgers four at a time. Five minutes on one side, flip and then add musrooms and onions and then cheese on top, cover until cheese is melted. Toast Dinner Rolls under broiler. Finish with spicy fry sauce–mix equal parts mayo and ketchup and some cayenne. Spread sauce on both sides of rolls and place one slider on each roll. Makes 7-8 sliders
Ice cream cake…need I say more?
We use their kaiser rolls from the deli for a great Hot Pork sandwich.
Pork roast
2 cans of enchilada sauce
1 TBSp of fajita seasoning
2 jalepeno’s sliced (add to liking)
Throw in crock pot, shredd and make sandwiches. Yummy!!
I make mac and cheese pizza with their pizza dough. Take Ragu Double Cheddar pasta sauce and cover the dough, cooked corkscrew noodles (or whatever you like)on top of the sauce, more sauce on the noodles and top with shredded cheddar cheese. Sounds weird but it is soooo good!!!
My little boy’s 4th birthday is September 25, so the only thing my dream shopping spree from that bakery would be some awesome Robot cake that only Publix could dream up to make his day incredible…or lots of cool little robot cupcakes…
But instead, I will be spending a good portion of next week figuring out my own version to make it a frugal robot birthday! π
You will absolutely LOVE this recipe that I make with Publix’s pizza dough. This is a go to recipe whenever we have company over or just craving a homemade Italian dinner at home. You will not be disappointed!

My boys will LOVE it! Thanks!
and…Maybe I will get some Publix Apple Flips to go with it…These are my Fav. from the bakery!! π
I love the brownies, I just add ice cream and I have the perfect desert. I use whatever brand is on sale, or that I can match with a coupon.
I love the breakfast bread. My husband loves french toast made with it.
It’s really good !
The Chocolate Ganache Cake (it is now a birthday staple); also the White Mountain Bread !! Yum !!!
I love making a gooey Gruyere and swiss cheese fondue and using Publix crusty french bread for dipping. Mmmmmmmm.
I use the French or Cuban bread for Brie sandwiches. They are a hit in my house!
1 loaf of Publix bread
1 round or wedge of double-creme brie cheese
1 ripe tomato sliced thin
1 cucumber sliced thin
1 c cleaned & shredded romaine lettuce
salt and pepper to taste
Let brie soften to room temperature. Slice loaf down, lengthwise. Spread the brie cheese on the bread generously. Layber the tomato and cucumber along the length. Top with shredded lettuce and salt and pepper. Slice into 3-4 6″ sandwiches and serve. Will feed 3-4 people. (You can slice it down much smaller to make an appetizer or a pot luck luncheon quick serve dish).
Mediterranean Pizza
Roll out Publiz pizza dough and brush with olive oil. Bake at 350 until golden. Spread desired amount of Bertoli Pasta sauce over dough. Add Publiz genoa salami, pepperoni, marinated artichoke hearts, sliced mushrooms, sliced blask olives and sliced roma tomatoes. Top with a mixture of feta and mozzarella cheese. Bake about 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and pizza is heated through. For the last 5 minutes add a sprinkling of crushed rosemary and oregano. Yum!
Sorry, typing skills are no good this morning. Publiz should be Publix!
French Bread for Baked French Toast is always a hit with my gang!
Publix bakery italian bread makes awesome panini. Here’s what you need:
– Publix bakery italian bread
– Fresh basil or basil spread (in the produce section)
– Fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
– Publix deli meat (ham works great)
– Thinly sliced tomatoes
Assemble panini and grill on either a stovetop grill or any variety of countertop grill until the bread is toasty and the cheese is melted. It’s especially delicious served with a small bowl of soup (we like tomato soup with it).
Mmmmm, I love their choc dipped cookie icing sandwiches. It is their choc chip cookies dipped in choc and made into a sandwich with their amazing butter-cream icing in the middle!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cinnamon roll breakfast bake
One pkg Publix cinnamon rolls cut into bites
8-12 eggs mixed well
1/2 pkg Jimmy Dean sausage torn into small bites
1/2 pkg cream cheese cut into cubes
U y
Preheat oven 350. Grease bottom and sides of large baking dish or pan. Line with cinnamon rolls. Add egg mixture. Evenly distribute sausage and cream cheese over top of rolls and eggs. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until egg and sausage is fully cooked.
Serve with syrup
Use their fresh baked cookies for ice cream sandwiches! Chocolate chip cookies with chocolate ice cream in the middle is my daughter’s fave!
Here’s a yummy one! Get the french bread dough from the bakery and bring it home to let it rise. Cut in small pieces with kitchen shears and drop into hot oil. Once they are lightly browned place them on a plate covered in paper towels to soak up any extra oil. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, cinnamon and sugar, butter and syrup, or anything else that sounds yummy. The name of the pastry is called a beignet (pronounced ben-yay, it means fried dough in French). My husband’s grandmother makes these at Christmas and they are amazing!
We do a simple white pizza with their pizza dough. Roll out pizza dough, brush with oolive oil and minced garlic. Top with ricotta, salt and pepper. Sprinkle with mozz cheese ( and parm also if you want) then bake until crust is golden and crisp. Serve with red sauce. Yum!!
Meat ball sandwiches
1 loaf of Publix french bread
1 package of meatballs
1 jar of pasta sauce
1 cup of shreded cheese
Cut the bread down the center lengthwise. spread pasta sauce on one piece of the bread. Cut meatballs in halves and lay on top of the pasta sauce. sprinkle cheese on top. Place the other piece of the bread on top and bake on pan at 400 degreese for 5-10 minutes
Super simple, but I love to use their thin French loaves, slice them thinly, toast them slightly and spread them with some brie. Yum Yum Yummy! You can also re-toast them after you put the brie on to melt it down. MMMmmmm…now I’m hungry.
Best pizza you’ll ever eat – guaranteed!
CHICKEN BACON RANCH PIZZA
1/2 c. ranch dressing
2-3 t. minced garlic, divided (I used the kind from the jar)
2-3 chicken breasts or 5-6 chicken tenders, thawed, and cubed
olive oil
1/2 lb. bacon
2-3 roma tomatoes, chopped
2 stalks of green onions, chopped
2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese blend (the white and yellow)
Mix together ranch dressing and 1-2 t. garlic in small bowl and set aside to let flavors blend. In the meantime, put cubed chicken into skillet with some olive oil, salt and another 1-2 t. garlic. Cook chicken until cooked through. While the chicken is cooking, start frying the bacon (either in skillet or microwave) and cook until done. Then chop into pieces.
While cooking the chicken and bacon, spread pizza dough onto pizza pan or stone (I use a stone) and bake at 375 for about 10 minutes until just starting to brown. Take out and spread the ranch mixture, then add chicken pieces. Sprinkle all but 1/2 c. mozzarella cheese on top of chicken, then sprinkle cheddar cheese. Top with tomatoes, bacon, and green onions. Then sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bake for another 10 minutes or until crust is done and cheese is melted.
Let sit for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.
I USE THE PUBLIX PIZZA DOUGH TO MAKE STROMBOLLI’S. GO TO THE DELI COUNTER AND ORDER YOURSELF UP SOME OF THE BEST DELI MEATS AND CHEESE IN THE WORLD. OF COARSE THAT WOULD BE BOARS HEAD.
I GET A POUND OF HAM.. POUND OF TURKEY .. POUND OF ROAST BEEF.. POUND OF PROVOLONE CHEESE AND THE SHARP CHEDAR AND THE HORSERADISH CHEDDAR.

This is a recipe that I tried after seeing it on Rachel Ray’s Show. It is a meatless hit with our family, and pretty inexpensive to make since most of us have canned beans and spaghetti sauce in our stockpile π
1 fresh pizza dough from the Publix Bakery
Flour, for dusting
4 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil, divided, plus some for drizzling
1/2 pack baby portabella mushrooms, thinly sliced
3 garlic cloves, chopped and divided
2 tablespoons chopped rosemary, a couple of sprigs
Salt and pepper
1 10-ounce box chopped frozen spinach, defrosted and squeezed dry
1 15-ounce can cannellini beans, drained
1 10-ounce sack (2 cups) shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
1 15-ounce can pizza sauce, any brand (can also use jar spaghetti sauce)
Salt and pepper, to taste
**Serves 4
Preheat a medium non-stick skillet. Preheat the oven to 400ΒΊF.
Cut the dough into 4 equal portions. Dust your hands with flour and spread the dough into 4 rounds, 8-10 inches each.
To the hot skillet, add 2 tablespoons of EVOO, the sliced mushrooms and 2 cloves of chopped garlic. Cook the mushrooms until they are dark and tender, 10 minutes, then season with rosemary, salt and pepper.
In a bowl, mash the beans with the spinach and remaining clove of garlic, a drizzle of EVOO and salt and pepper, to taste.
On each round of dough, spread 1/4 of the bean mixture on one half of the dough. Top with 1/4 of the mushrooms and then about 1/2 cup of cheese. Fold the dough over and seal the calzones by pressing the edges lightly. Brush a cookie sheet with EVOO and arrange the calzones on the sheet. Brush each calzone lightly with EVOO. Bake the calzones until golden all over, 15 minutes.
Heat the pizza sauce over low heat in a small pot.
Serve the calzones with small ramekins of pizza sauce alongside for dipping.
The recipe is called “Tucan Calzones with the works”
I love their Italian bread, You can do so many things with it.
Garlic bread: Press two cloves of garlic into 3 Tbls of softened butter. Stir well. Let sit for at least 10 minutes. Spread on bread, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, bake @ 350 for 5-7 minutes, or until edges are crispy.
It makes great grilled cheese sandwiches, so crunchy and buttery. I like to go to the deli and get Publix sweet ham for a delicious ham sandwich. It also makes great bread crumbs for toppings or to mix in meatloaf. I could go on and on.
Pork roast sandwich in french bread.
First I slice the french bread in half and toast it in the oven with mayo or olive oil, meanwhile I’m cooking some Hormel pork roast in the microwave. when ready I add cheese to one side of the bread add the shredded roast beef and the final touch I add some home made “pico de gallo” put the other half of the bread on top and it’s ready to eat. It’s an easy to make, fast, filling dinner. My family LOVES it.
Here is an easy and delicious recipe that me and my husband love! It’s called Beer Beef. This recipe is delicious and it only calls for a few ingedients.
1 lb london broil or chuck roast
1 packet of Good Seasons Italian dressing mix
1 beer of choice
Season beef w/ italian dressing mix. Place in crockpot/slow cooker on low. Add beer. Keep on low for 10 hrs. Beef will fall apart.
Serve on Publix bakery cuban bread or sub rolls w/ Mozzarella cheese slices and french fried onions.
Grilled Pizza
I agree, Michelle, the Publix pizza dough ball is the BEST item in the bakery! I also swear by a few more items from my Publix to make the perfect pizza at home…pizza with an authentic wood-burning brick oven flavor!
I picked up a 14 inch pizza stone from the small appliances section of my local store. Priced about 15 dollars.
I also use the absolute best charcoal, Publix Greenwise wood charcoal. It lends a fabulous smokey flavor to everything, and I’ve found a reliable way to light it without the use of chemical fluid.
Muir Glen organic tomato sauce is a great bargain with a coupon. The small can makes exactly two pizzas.
Here’s what to do:
Preheat pizza stone in the oven. (I’m not sure if this is necessary, but it’s a precaution that I take. The stone packaging warns that uneven heating may cause the stone to crack.)
Light the grill. Arrange charcoal in a pyramid. Soak about a dozen paper napkins in cooking oil, leaving a corner tip of each dry. Intersperse oiled napkins within the charcoal. Light napkin corners. Allow charcoal to burn until hot and white, spread coals into even layer.
To prepare pizza, roll Publix dough out onto a floured surface into a 14 inch circle. Retrieve hot stone from oven and place on a protected surface. Loosely wrap dough around rolling pin and transfer to the stone. It will start to bubble and bake immediately.
Quickly smear tomato sauce and sprinkle cheese and other toppings sparingly. Place stone directly on grill rack. Close lid and bake 7-10 minutes, using a spatula to check the bottom of crust for signs of burning.
Slice pizza and serve. The grill will be hot enough to make another pizza, if desired! I usually use the residual heat to grill veggies, chicken breasts, or ribs for dinners later in the week.
*FYI, I use a $20 basic Walmart one-rack grill. Here is coastal Florida, even the fanciest of grills rust out. If you’re starting this cooking method from scratch, it would be about a $40 investment, to include a grill, stone, and Publix Greenwise charcoal. We do Grilled Pizza Night once a week, and the average cheese pizza costs under $4.
This super easy, and a favorite at our house!
Sausage Subs
1 lb sausage
1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped or sliced
1/2 jar spaghetti sauce (or a can of diced tomatos plus basil, garlic and oregano)
Sub buns from the bakery
Brown sausage, add onion and peppers and saute until soft. Drain any excess grease. Add sauce and simmer for min. 15 minutes (the longer, the better!). Serve on sub buns.
Grilled Pizza
I agree, Michelle, Publix pizza dough ball is the BEST item in the bakery! I also swear by a few other ingredients from my Publix to make an authentic wood-burning brick oven style pizza, just like the pizza I used to eat when I lived in Italy!
I picked up a pizza stone from the small appliance section of my Publix for about 15 dollars.
Publix Greenwise wood charcoal lends a fabulous smokey flavor to everything, and it’s an absolute must try! I’ve found a way to ignite the coals without the use of chemical fluids, too.
Here’s what to do:
Preheat the pizza stone in the oven. (I’m not sure if that necessary, but I take that as an extra precaution. Stone packaging materials indicate that uneven heating may cause the stone to crack.)
Arrange charcoal in a pyrmaid in grill. Soak about a dozen paper napkins in cooking oil, leaving corners dry. Intersperce oiled napkins between charcoal. Ignite napkin corners, and allow coals to burn hot and white. Level coals and replace grill grate.
Roll out Publix dough into a 14-in. circle, working on a lightly floured surface. Retrieve stone from oven and place on a protected surface. Loosely roll dough around rolling pin to transfer to hot stone. Dough will begin baking immediately!
Quickly smear tomato sauce and sprinkle cheese and other toppings sparingly. Place stone directly on grill grate and cover lid. Bake for 7-10 minutes, using a spatula to periodically check crust for signs of burning.
Slice and serve. There will be enough heat on the grill to make a second pizza! I usually use the residual heat to grill veggies, chicken breasts, or ribs for dinners later in the week.
*I use a $20 basic one-rack grill from Walmart. Here in coastal Florida, even the fanciest grills rust out. The start-up investment for this cooking method is about $40 between the grill, pizza stone, and Publix Greenwise charcoal. We have pizza night once per week, and with couponing, a cheese pizza costs under $4.
1 baguette
1 boars head cheese and salami
2 plum tomatoes
italian grinder seasoning
olive oil
have the baguette sliced in the bakery into thin slices. top with a thin slice of tomato, then a little olive oil, then italian grinder, and top all of that with a thin slice of the tomato and salami swirl. bake at 350 unitil cheese is melted. this appetizer is awesome and everyone will want more!!!
If they make challah at your bakery on Fridays it is *delicious* and makes amazing french toast after it is a few days stale.
This is a WONDERFUL Onion-Herb Focaccia using Publix’s pizza dough. It’s simple to make and my family loves it!….
Directions
On a floured surface, roll out 1 pound refrigerated pizza dough into a 10-by-15-inch rectangle; press into an oiled rimmed baking sheet. Mix 1/4 cup olive oil, 2 tablespoons chopped rosemary and/or oregano, 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes and a big pinch of sea salt. Brush half of the herb oil over the dough, then set aside until puffy, about 1 hour. Make dimples in the dough with your fingers and top with thin onion slices and shaved parmesan. Bake at 400 until golden, about 20 minutes. Brush with the remaining herb oil.
Recipe from Food Network Magazine
Our favorite from the Publix Bakery is the Chicago Italian Bread. Friday night is Pizza and Movie night at our house, and just to change things up a bit, some weeks I make our family favorite–Pizza Bread, a quick, filling, and budget friendly meal our Italian family grew up on.
Pizza Bread
2 loaves Publix Chicago Italian Bread, unsliced
sauce (we use Prego)
garlic
Italian seasoning
pizza toppings
shredded cheese
Slice loaves lengthwise and lay both halves crust side down on baking sheet. Top with sauce, garlic, and Italian seasoning to taste. Add pizza toppings, then cheese. (The sky’s the limit with your pizza creativity–think pizza buffet combos for creative ideas, from white pizza to cheeseburger pizza to good ole sausage and pepperoni.) Bake at 375 for 7 minutes or until cheese is melted. Cut into 3-4″ pieces and serve toasty!
We make a fantastic calzone with the dough from the Publix bakery.
Part boil some chopped potatoes. Then put them in a fry pan with a little oil to brown them up a bit along with some steamed broccoli. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder. Roll out the dough and place on cookie sheet. Layer some publix sweet ham slices and some white american cheese. Spread the potato and broccoli mix over the coldcuts. Fold the dough over and seal with fingertips. Cut a few slices into the top of the dough. Brush a little eggwash and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown. My family loves this.
My most favorite dish to make with an item from the Publix Bakery is White Chocolate Bread Pudding using their fresh French Bread Loaf!! Here’s the recipe:
1 Loaf French
2 Cups Sugar
3 Eggs
1 Package White Chocolate Chips
2 Tablespoons Vanilla
1 Carton of Heavy Whipping Cream
Topping:
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon Cocoa
Cube the loaf of bread and mix with heavy whipping cream and vanilla. Let sit in refrigerator for several hours (preferably overnight). Mix together sugar and eggs. Combine with bread mixture. Place mixture into baking dish greased with non-stick cooking spray. Sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon and cocoa mix on top. I also sprinkle cinnamon in my mixture before placing it in the dish to cook. Cook for 30 minutes at 350 degrees covered; uncover and cook for another 15 minutes.
Now my mouth is watering!! Enjoy!
I love to get their French Loaf, cut it into slices and make really thick French Toast (eggs, milk or half-and-half, cinnamon, and vanilla extract). I cook them on the stove, and YUM!
I make Bruschetta with their sliced Chicago Italian Bread.
1/2 loaf sliced Publix Chicago Italian Bread
4-5 vine ripe tomatoes, diced (any kind will work just fine)
1 onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, pressed (more or less depending on taste)
Extra virgin olive oil (approximately 4 tablespoons)
basil
shaved parmesan cheese
salt
pepper
Mix the onion, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper in a bowl. Add the tomatoes and mix gently. Toast the slices of bread (you may want to cut them in half) and then top each slice with a couple spoonfuls of the tomato mixture. Sprinkle a few shavings of Parmesan and put a basil leaf on top of each slice.
I get the Chicago style bread that is thin sliced. Grate some parmesan cheese onto a plate and add whatever spices/herbs I’m in the mood for–garlic salt, chives, oregano, rosemary, thyme, a little cayenne, etc. Then cover with olive oil and mop up with the bread. That and a nice glass of wine makes a great afternoon snack for mommie! π
My family also love the pizza dough from publix we mix pieces if chicken breast mixed in our favorite hot sauce, chuncky blue cheese dressing, and mozzorella cheese , we first spread th blue cheese dressing on the crust, then the chicken and top with cheese, I sprinkle a little more hot sauce before I put he cheese on the top…Taste like hot wings pizza style….let it cook int the oven, timing and temp on the pizza dough bag.
Another thin my family likes are the hoagie/sandwiche buns in the deli/bakery,we order shaved roast beef and get sliced muenster cheese, toast the buns, warm the meat in a skillet or microwave and let the cheese melt..sometimes I mix in mushrooms and onions while warming the deli meat.
I like to use the pound cakes at publix to make strawberry shortcake punch bowls for a crowd.Get a publix vanilla cake or two, crumble.Make jello vanilla puddin set aside, get strawberry filling or you can take fresh strawberries and mix it with strawberry glaze or frozen, set aside, and get cool whip.Layer cake, pudding, strawberry mixture, cool whip and nuts, repeat until punchbowl is filled ending with nuts ..plentiful and beautiful presentation
I get the French bread loaves from the bakery a day before preparing this so I can have day old bread that is extra thirsty!
Overnight French Toast – http://smithbakeaholic.blogspot.com/2010/09/overnight-french-toast.html
My favorite meal using Publix Bakery – Amy’s Special Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Loaf of Publix Pumpernickel Bread, sliced
1 fresh tomato
fresh basil
garlic
shredded sharp cheddar cheese
butter/margarine
finely dice up the tomato (1/4 inch chunks), use a garlic press on one clove of garlic, and finely mince 3 or 4 basil leaves. Mix all this together and let sit for at least an hour (I keep this in my fridge for quick bruschetta too!)
When you’re ready to cook, lightly butter the bread and place butter side down on hot skillet, top with shredded cheddar, then add tomato mixture, and top with a bit more shredded cheddar. Cook until done on one side, flip and cook until done.
I use shredded cheddar to cut out some of the calories (I use just enough to hold the tomato mixture to the bread.)
If I had to choose just one item from the Publix bakery, it would be their delicious french bread. There are soo many things you can make with a loaf of french bread, but one of my favorite and more unique recipes is “Hot Cheese Puffs”:
– 1 loaf french bread, cubed
– 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
– 4 egg whites
– 1 stick butter
– 8 ounces cream cheese
Melt cheeses and butter in saucepan; stir in egg whites. Dip bread cubes into cheese mixture. Place on baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes. Remove from freezer and place in plastic bags, return to freezer. When ready to bake, remove from freezer and place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Enjoy!
These are wonderful to serve at parties, as an appetizer, or even as an after-school snack!
We have a lot of B-days this fall…could use the GC to help fund the parties…THANKS
Love to get the braed bowls and fill them with dips or soup for the winter months
I usually cook a good dinner for after church on Sunday, and we’ll often stop at Publix for a fresh French Baguette. They’re inexpensive and versatile. Garlic bread, homemade croutons, bruschetta, and great for dipping in homemade spinach and artichoke dip or warm crab dip, bread pudding, and the list goes on. YUM! My favorite appetizer to make is crab dip. It sounds special, but it’s so simple to make, and quick, too!
8 oz cream cheese
7 oz crab meat (I use canned)
1/2 c mayo
garlic salt to taste (a couple dashes does it for us)
heat cream cheese and mayo over low to medium heat, stirring together. Once combined, add crab and garlic salt. Serve warm with toasted slices of French Baguette (and vegetables are good with it too).
We love to make Bruschetta with the French Bagettes.
On loaf of Publix French Bagette, thick sliced.
Chopped tomaotes
Shredded Fontina cheese
Basil Pesto ( I make my own, but you can use the Buitoni ).
EVOO
Light drizzle the slice bread with EVOO and toast lightly on 400 degree oven. Remove and top with shredded Fonitna cheese, chopped tomatoes, salt and pepper, and good teaspoon of pesto goes on last. Return to oven and bake until cheese is melted and the pesto just start to turn a little golden. This taste just like the one served at Carraba’s. You can drizzle with a little Balsamic Vinegar if you like.
French toast using Publix breakfast bread!!!!! MMMMMMMM!!!!!
I got this recipe from a friend… yummy stromboli!!
*pizza dough from Publix’s bakery, it comes raw in a ball in the bakery, you can ask for it
* 1/2 lb. thin sliced provolone cheese from the deli, I use Land O’ Lakes
* 1/2 lb. thin sliced genoa salami from the deli, I use Boar’s Head
* 1 pkg. sliced pepperoni, Boar’s Head package
* 3 cups shredded mozzarella
* you can add any raw sliced veggies, mushrooms, red onion, peppers, olives or NOT
Let dough sit for about 30-45 minutes on the counter to rise (in package)
Sprinkle flour on your counter and coat ball of dough with flour from counter, roll out dough into a rectangular shape, until it is fairly thin- but not so thin it will break when you roll, approximately 14 inches x 18 inches, or so, flipping over as you roll.
Layer side-by-side, not overlaping, the provolone cheese so the dough is covered.
Layer the salami on top of the provolone staggering, dough should be completely covered in provolone and salami.
Layer pepperoni on a plate one layer, paper towel first, then repeat layering paper towel pepperoni, about 3-4 layers. Microwave for 30 seconds, cuts WAY down on grease!
Scatter the pepperoni all over the stomboli, like a pizza.
Scatter whatever raw veggies you decide and then all the mozzerella on top. We love fresh sliced mushrooms!
Start at the edge closest to you and roll tightly-so nothing comes out-slowly, after you roll about 2 rolls, fold the ends in, roll some more and then do the same thing to the ends. When you get to the end it should be all sealed. Carefully pick up from bottom and place on a, PAM sprayed, cookie sheet and make a curve, almost like a wide upside down “U”. Cut 4-5 1/2 inch cuts on the top to let the inside cook. Make a “white” egg wash, no yolks and a little water and beat, brush over top of Stromboli, it will make it brown nicer.
Bake at 375 for about 30-35 minutes, check, it may need longer, it should be golden brown and oozing! Serve with pizza sauce for dipping and a salad.
This is a recipe we love. I found it in a magazine years ago and make it regularly..deelish!!
Meatball Sub Casserole
1/3 cup chopped green onions
1/4 seasoned bread crumbs
3 TBS grated Parmesan cheese
1 lb ground beef
1 loaf Publix Italian or French bread, cut into 1″ slices
1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayo (not fat free or light!)
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp pepper
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 jar spaghetti sauce
1 cup water
2 garlic cloves, minced
In a bowl combine onions, crumbs and Parm cheese. Add beef and mix well. Shape into 1″ meatballs. Place on a rack in shallow pan. Bake at 400 for 15-20 mins or no longer pink. Meanwhile arrange bread in a single layer in an ungreased 9 x 13 baking dish. (all of the bread wont be used) Combine cream cheese, mayo, Italian seasoning and pepper, spread over the bread. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup mozzarella. Combine sauce, water and garlic; add meatballs. Pour over the cheese mixture; sprinkle with remaining mozzarella. Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 30 mins or until heated through. Sooo good!
Tangy Pepper-Pecan Brie
Appetizers don’t get any easier than this. Start with a round of Brie, add your choice of three delicious toppings, surround with slices of French bread, and bake!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup pecan halves

1/4 cup apricot preserves
1 4-inch round (8 ounces) Brie cheese with rind, room temperature
1 Publix(16 ounces) French baguette
Olive oil

3. Cut baguette on a bias into twenty-four 1/4-inch-thick slices. Arrange baguette slices around Brie; brush lightly with olive oil, salt and pepper. Bake 8-10 minutes or until baguette slices are golden brown and Brie begins to soften. Remove from oven; let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Yield: 12 servings
I love to make homeade croutons. My family loves it too – they usually don’t wait for the salad, they just start eating the croutons right off the baking sheet.
Garlic Croutons
4 tablespoons butter
1 clove garlic, minced
3 (3/4 inch thick) slices French bread (or whatever bakery bread you find cheap!), cut into cubes
Preheat oven to 350. In a large saute pan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in garlic; cook & stir for 1 minute. Add bread cubes and toss to coat. Spread on baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes or until crisp and dry. Check frequently to prevent burning. Cool.
I have not tried any of Publix bakery items but if I won this gift card I would try it. Joy
We love to buy the pizza dough and make pizza on the grill. Treat the dough how you would if you were going to bake it, but lightly grease it on the bottom before placing it on the grill. Use whatever topping you usually would!
I heart making bread pudding from their Breakfast Bread. YUM!
I add eggs, extra cinnamon, milk and eagle brand sweetened condensed milk! It is amazing.
I too make a mean bruchetta. Mine only has a few ingredients. I take a pint of mushrooms, some basil (just use to your liking), garlic and some olive oil, i put them all in a food processor/chopper, to a fine dice. saute in a saucepan with some olive oil, until cooked and tender. then i use the Publix Bakery French bread or baguette, slice into 1/2 inch slices. top with mushroom mix, add a little mozzerella cheese, broil till cheese melts…heaven…hope this helps..it’s a great appetizer at parties and not very costly at all.
My family LOVES the Publix bakery!!! I discovered their pizza dough 4 years ago and seems like you have to buy it early or it is gone. Every Sunday is pizza at our house. My favorite version is:
Spread the prepared dough thinly on a pizza pan, spread with Butoni pesto ( in the dairy section), top with leftover shredded cooked chicken breast. Sprinkle with parmessan cheese ( the canned kind) and a generous handful or two of shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake at 450 until golden. YUMMY and easy!
My favorite thing from the Publix bakery is their English Muffin bread. I haven’t found it anywhere else, and it makes the perfect snack. Toast it with butter and garlic for a nice Italian treat, toast and add butter and cinnamon sugar for a sweet treat, or for those late night snacks toast and top with Publix’s all natural peanut butter. My husband knows not to touch my English Muffin bread! π
Well, I like to use Publix bread (any will work, but for this I use the long French bread). Use 1/4 to 1/2 of the bread to make homemade crutons (place on a cookie sheet and put in the oven until moisture is out of the bread and the have a nice crunch), and slice the rest of the bread for garlic bread. You can use the garlic spread from the bakery or make some homemade (place in oven on about 350 until desired browning is reached). I like to also get pizza dough to make a fresh pizza (any type will do, but I love salami on mine). This is a great meal because you can have a salad with fresh baked crutons, fresh garlic bread, and pizza (nothing was frozen and it tastes super fresh).
MASHED POTATO PIZZA
I too like the dough from the bakery. I use it to make mashed potato pizza. Take the dough and spread it out in a round or rectangle pan w/lip. Boil & mash 2-3 potatos, chop 1 small onion and mix into the mashed potatos, add about a cup of shredded cheddar cheese as well. Then put the potato mixture onto the dough. Sprinkle cheese and cooked bacon or bacon bits all over the top and cook on 350 for 30-40 minutes until dough is done. YUMMY!
It has got to be their buscuits! Eating them with homemade sausage and gravy. The best!
French Bread Eggplant Pizza
2 eggplants, salt, Olive oil, 1 long Publix French Bread, 1 can fire roasted peppers, 1 pkg. shredded mozzarella, 2 tablespoons grated parmesan.
Cut the eggplants in half lengthwise. Use a sharp knife to score through the meat of the eggplant (Not through the skin) in one-inch slices top to bottom, and then again horizontally. Place the scored eggplant halves on on a foil lined baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle salt on each piece. Roast in a 375 degree oven for about 40 minutes.
When the eggplant is done remove from the oven and let cool until you can handle them without getting burned. (About 20 minutes) Using a large spoon, scoop out the roasted eggplant from the skins, and place into a bowl. Use a fork or a masher to smash it up a bit, and then taste for salt. Add more if needed.
Slice the bread in half lengthwise, and drain the can of fire-roasted peppers. Spread the eggplant mash onto each half of the bread, then spread the roasted peppers on top of the eggplant, and top it off with a generous sprinkle of the mozzarella and a tablespoon of parmesan for each half. Bake on a cookie sheet or a pizza stone at 400 degrees for abour 30 minutes, or until the cheese has the shade of golden yumminess that you like. Slice as desired and Enjoy!
Oops! I forgot to mention that the eggplants should be roasted with the skin down, and flesh up, or it will stick to the foil or baking tray.
I love making calzones with pizza dough. For super frugal calzones we will make them on fridays. I put out any leftover veggies and protein sitting around and use it as filling with a selection of cheeses. We have eaten some creative ones but good (taco, broccoli/cheese/chicken, Chinese).
Roll pizza dough out like you would for a pizza. Put fillings on top of half of the dough. Place rolled calzone on a greased cookie sheet. Brush the yolk of 1 egg over calzone, poke holes in top and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Wait 10 minutes and enjoy.
When I realized that Publix had fresh pizza dough i was so excited because now I can finally make Pizza Frete (fried dough). I have seen something similar here (we are from Connecticut) but I belive it is made from the dough used to make donoughts.
Pizza frete is pretty simple, you need:
Pizza dough
Oil
Confectioner’s Sugar
Pasta sauce
P
Grated cheese
Take the dough out of the package, place it in a bowl with flour surrounding it and pit a towel over it to let it rise. I remember my father used to let it rise for several hours but usually we never wait that long. Once the dough is ready heat upthe oil in a pot and make smaller looking pizza’s about the size of your palm (bigger or smaller is also fine). Put them in the oil turning them occassionally until they are a light btanish color.
Continue this with rest of dough. When done you can choose to top with either the sugar, which is my favorite or with sauce/gratedchese.
It’s a great, simple meal that can cater to different tastes. Also makes it fun for the kids. Mine think they are making their owns pizza’s and love it. I am just glad I finally get my Pizza Frete back. I Love Publix!!!!!
walnut gorgonzola linguine with toasted Italian 5 grain bread
I just love Publix.
I just came up with the recipe not long ago. It’s sort of like adding croutons to pasta, but waaay better. I first prepared whole wheat pasta and toasted some walnuts. For the bread, slice the loaf up into 1″ thick slices. Next, halve each slice.
Heat 1/4 cup of olive oil in skillet. Toss the bread in and toast for 3 min. I then added my walnuts, about a cup of sun dried tomatoes, garlic powder, Promise buttery spread (3 tbsp, about), and pasta + several tablespoons of the reserved pasta water. Stir together, heap on your plate and add fresh gorgonzola!
Shrimp and Pesto Pizza
I love getting the pre-made pizza dough from the Publix bakery and adding some either homemade or storebought pesto, a few shrimp and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
Quick, easy and delicious. One of my favorites!
Oh I love the pizza dough, and I have many ideas for pizza that astounds even rachel and paula !
I buy the Publix pizza dough to make Margherita pizza.
Five ingredients:
Publix pizza dough
fresh mozzarella
sliced tomatoes
fresh basil
extra virgin olive oil
We love the pizza dough too! I like to get some ham and pineapple chunks and make homemade hawaiian pizza. Sometimes we substitute crumbled bacon for the ham. Not too exciting, but it makes for a quick dinner on a busy night. π
I stop by the Publix bakery almost every morning on my way to work and get a blueberry bagel. I toast it when I get to work. The bagel and a cup of coffee or the perfect start to my day.
Comments win stuff, I like stuff, I like comments, but I LOOOOOVE I<3Publix.com
Love getting the Focaccia Bread, heating it up and dipping it in homemade tomato sauce.
Son’s favorite is making Stuffed French Toast with the breakfast bread. He’ll put cream cheese inbetween two slices, dip in egg mix, and fry till golden brown. He’ll eat as is with no syrup because of the flavors of the bread are enough.
With 2 little ones definitely the free sprinkle cookies each time we shop. Makes for happy kiddos, which makes for a happy coupon clippin mama!
I’d grab a few bags of dough, then have a pizza party with the family!
I love this one and will share due to Halloween coming up and this is what I bring to parties:
I call them blood shot eyes, I get the miniature brownies from the bakery and make some cream cheese, pipe it onto the center of the brownie, buy some cherries and place it down into the center of the cream cheese, and the juice leaves red streaks down the sides of the cream cheese, leaving a bloodshot look-and they are soooooo yummy!
I have been wanting to try the pizza dough with fresh vegetables to introduce my husband to veggie pizza instead of sausage/pepperoni. Yummy fresh spices from the produce dept. would top it off just perfectly.
I have got to say using their french bread to make baked french toast w/ a caramel topping. It’s awesome for brunch or when you have visitors. You make it ahead of time and while your oven is preheating in the morning make up the caramel mixture. DELISH!
I have the easiest recipe…Italian Zeppoli’s! I get the fresh dough from the bakery, my daughter and I make lots of shapes with it, I fry it up and then sprinkle powered sugar on it! It is to die for! : )
Thanks,
Tracey
get the pizza dough roll it out put butter all over it then cinamin and sugar and roll up cut into small rolls and place into over 350 for about 7-10 minutes and you have awesome rolls.:)
I would have to buy the publix chocolate chip cookies. My daughter and nephews love them.
I make my kids “homemade Lunchables” using French bread loafs, lunchmeat, and cheese. They like the french bread better than crackers and I slice it thin so they each get a few.

I tell everybody to get their birthday cakes from Publix Bakery. They are so moist and delicious for days. I love Publix. They rock!!!
Sorry I messed up my email address on the latter entry. I tell everyone to get their birthday cakes from Publix. They are the best for days. Publix Rocks!!!!
I have been getting .72 rolls with the $1 off Target Bakery Q…yummy and overage!!
They have great carrot cake! Better than most restaurants out there!
I love to do BBQ chicken Pizza with the Pizza dough. Put the dough out on a round or rectangular pan spread with 1/2 cup of bbq sauce (whatever is in the pantry, but really love Sweet Baby Rays) then use 1/2 of a red onion diced, handful of fresh cilantro chopped coarsely, and 1/2 of a BBQ rotisserie chicken from the deli. Then sprinkle with preshredded mozorella. Put in the oven and bake until bubbly.. Even easier if you can grab pre cut onion!
Just make sure you shred the chicken before adding. Can easily be done by hand or use kitchen shears!
I don’t have a recipe for you but I love the Publiz bakery!! I go there when I DON’T feel like baking. I love love love the cupcakes and the apple turnovers. Their doughnuts and breads are awesome too. If I should win the gift card, I will use it for goodies for our Halloween party. I can really use the help this year.
Grilled pizza made with Publix pizza dough–every Friday. There are three of us, and I cut the pizza dough into three pieces, roll each out, and make personal pizzas for everyone–and everyone can pick their own special toppings each week. I use Publix corn meal to keep the dough from sticking to the pan on which I make the pizzas, then put the pizzas on a preheated grill (about 500 degrees) for 5-8 minutes! They are better than any pizza we can get, a nice crispy crust, and everyone loves being able to choose what they want on their pizza each week!
The pizza dough is excellent! I like the multigrain, but the italian is great also. My favorite is red sauce, sliced garlic, spinach, basil, mozzarella and feta cheese. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes. It is better than any pizza you can buy.
I love their White Mountain Bread! We sometimes use it to make the best pizza sandwiches.
Ingredients:
2 cups mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup (for each pizza sandwich) of your favorite tomato sauce (traditional ragu for me)
Your favorite pizza toppings (I use pepperoni- deli or just the Hormel ones)
Heat bread in oven on 350 until it is just crispy. Then place toppings on: sauce, cheese, and then the extra toppings. Cook about 5-10 mins until the cheese is melted.
This can also be done with the bakery bagels or rolls. It is so good! My Mom used to make it all the time as a quick meal. The sandwiches can be served as a sandwich or open-faced.
Hands down – publix italian pizza dough!!! Every week without fail we as a family make our very own homemade pizza! Brush the rolled out crust with E.V,OO with oregano and garlic, Portobello Mushrooms, Green Peppers and Ragu sauce ( god knows WE ALL must have a stock pile the size of the Gulf of mexico ), tons of mOzza, sprinkled with a lil cheddar. DoNE! : ]
I know there are so many recipes for Publix bakery items, but my very favorite in the whole wide world is quite simple. The White Mountain bread, sliced and smothered with softened butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. Oh my heavens that is breakfast on a cloud-provided the cloud comes with coffee :P.
I use Publix french bread and corn muffins to make my Thanksgiving stuffing. The bakery will slice the bread into cubes for me and I cut up 4 corn muffins and let both the bread and muffins sit out for a day or two. Once that is done here is the recipe:
Saute 1 lbs of sausage until brown (either bulk or remove from casings). Remove from pan. Saute 2 diced onion and 1 c. diced celery in butter. Add i tablespoon each of fresh sage, rosemary and thyme. Add 1 diced apple and cook until soft. Add salt and pepper and parsley to taste add sausage back to pan and add bread and corn muffins. Add chicken stock until moist. Put in baking dish. Bake 375 for 30 to 40 minutes.
I love making garlic knots with Publix’s Italian pizza dough. Simply roll the dough out cut lengthwise into strips and then cut each strip in half and tie into a knot. Mix melted butter with garlic powder, parsley, and parmesan cheese and brush on top of each knot before baking at 400 degrees until golden brown. My family and I cannot get enough of these!
I have heard about the pizza dough always wanted to try it. I know everything else in the bakery is great!
One of my favorite things to make for entertaining is a mozzerella platter. I serve it with a Publix fresh baked baguette that I slice thin and drizzle with olive oil. I toast it in the oven for a few minutes and it is DELISH!!
I would get either their Raspberry Elegance cake or their Carrot Cake. I would also get some of their incredible Challah bread. If we have any left over after, Shabbat, I use it for French toast. LOVE PUBLIX!!!
I love their fruit parfaits. They have a little cupcake and then fruit and yogurt on top, and a nice lil cherry to top it all off…such a great lil snack!!!
Publix raised the price of pizza dough to $2.69(around there) here in south florida. Most small italian markets like gino market sell pizza dough for $1.49.
my favorite thing to get is the fresh italian or chicago sliced bread. Topped with sliced tomato, cheese (fresh motz when it’s on sale or shredded motz or any other sale cheese) along with basil from my herb garden and put in the panini press, we make “fancy grilled cheese”. It’s fabulous for lunch or dinner!!!
Get Publix Ciabata rolls. Grill up a burger with a slice of pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, and a little A-1 sauce. Excellent.
I love getting the Publix cookies… they had the two dozen for $2.50 for quite some time and I used it to my advantage! The kids love those expensive cookies at the mall that have the icing in between. I recreated this with icing, or even with ice cream and hershey’s chocolate! Simple, but gotta love it!
I love the chocolate covered strawberries. They are great and we use them for special occasions.
I like getting the crossiants from the bakery adding a little spaghetti sauce, mozarella cheese, and turkey pepperoni’s. A perfect little lunch for you and the kids. It’s fast, good, and easy! You can add other veggies too but my kids refuse to eat veggies so I have learned to accept the only veggie for now that they will eat is spaghetti sauce.
My favorite is Spinach & Feta Turkey Burgers. We all love these around here, especially my one year old. She gobbles them up and asks for more. I made these with a little over a pound of ground turkey, frozen chopped spinach, and feta. I don’t measure the cheese or the spinach, but just “eyeball it”. If I had to guess I’d say about 3/4 cup of spinach and 1/2 cup of crumbled feta. I use the organic frozen spinach in the bag so I can just throw it right in frozen. If you have the boxed kind or fresh kind you’d have to figure out the best way to get it in there. So, I just toss the spinach and feta in and then I also put a dash of Worcestershire sauce and salt to taste. Grill them up until they are done (my husband says about 15 minutes – I don’t grill!). We serve these on the big Publix hamburger buns with just mayo and lettuce. Those buns are fantastic! I usually make roasted herbed potatoes to go with them as well, they taste great together!
Oh sorry meant to say the buns are the ones from the bakery not the bread isle!
I love the publix pizza dough too! It is so stinkin good! Me and my hubby like to make calzones out of it. I stuff them with whatever we have around the house or whatever my husband is craving! Usually we like to stuff them with ragu pizza sauce(seriously amazing), mexican cheese, onion, bell pepper, mushrooms and pepperoni! Then when I close them up I top the crust with a butter mixture which is made up of melted butter, garlic powder and italian seasoning! The butter topping is a must! Then I bake it according to the instructions on the package and it is dealicious!!!
We love to use or panini press to make our own Cuban sandwiches. The Cuban bread from Publix is the BEST! I get the meats and cheeses (I like making mine a turkey Cuban) from Publix deli and add mustard. Everyone in the house designs their own.
That and the whole sourdough loaves. Love to tear out the center and use as a bread bowl for spinach dip! YUMMY!
very hard to find in central florida but a loaf of cheesy jalapeno bread. i use to work in the bakery in miami and this was a hot item a little pricey about 3.50 but definitely worth buying to compliment a hot meal or just to snack on
I love buying there Frosting! add it to my fresh baked cake or cupcakes and its really yummy treat!
I like to use the mini-croissants for some overnight french toast for special occasions or when family/friends visit from out-of-town. All the work is done the night before, which is really nice, too! I don’t follow an exact recipe anymore, but here it is: 12 day-old mini croissants, cut in half horizontally. Mix 1 stick soft butter with half cup brown sugar (can be done by hand with a wooden spoon). Spread this on the the croissant bottoms and place the tops on them, like you are making a sandwich. Arrange in two layers in a 9-inch square baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray (I use a glass dish). Whisk 4 eggs with 1 cup whole milk, teaspoon vanilla, a good pinch of cinnamon, and a dash of nutmeg. Pour over croissants, press down on them a few times to let the batter get in all the nooks and crannies. Cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning pull the dish out for about 30 minutes, then preheat oven to 325F. Remove cover, sprinkle top with white sugar, bake for about an hour or until it begins to puff up and top is golden. Let rest for about 5 minutes before cutting. So yummy and gooey that it doesn’t need syrup. Enjoy!
My family and I enjoy a lot of the items in the bakery, but our family favorites are the pizza dough and the fresh breads. My husband and I eat pizza every Friday, and making it with fresh ingredients is the best! We buy the pizza dough, fresh mozzarella, fresh veggies and pepperoni to make home-made pizza. We also enjoy the breads at the Publix bakery. For a special treat on Sunday, my husband will make Eggs Benedict (my favorite). We ask for a loaf of bread is not pre-sliced. He cuts the bread slices really thick to absorb the hollandaise sauce. It is truly divine! Best of all, it gives me a break from cooking. Sweet!
I would get the Hoagie Rolls. Those are so versatile! You can use them to make sandwiches (hot and cold), you can also use them to make a “french bread” type pizza. You could even make a dessert like bread pudding with them. I kind of do a combination of a pizza and a bruschetta. I get 3 large tomatoes and chop them up. I also add a half of an vidalia onion and a jalpeno without the seeds (so it isn’t spicy). I season that with salt and pepper. I half the hoagie roll length wise and put it in the oven at 350 until it starts to turn a little brown, I then will put the tomato mixture on it and I cover it with cheese. I put it back in the oven and let the cheese melt. It’s so delicious!
My recipe is pretty simple. Just roll the publix pizza dought into little ball and fry. Then, roll them in confectioner sugar. They are so jummy.
I make spinach dip and serve in a bread bowl using the sourdough round from Publix. Then I get their French baguette stick, slice it into bread rounds, and serve with the spinach dip. It makes a great presentation and is wonderful for football season tailgating.
My kids are all about their glazed doughnuts. They will ask for them every time they are shopping with me, but I will always tell them we can’t buy them till they are on sale. π
I love to eat healthy foods from the Boar’s head section with French Bread pressed on the Forman.. Ummmm. .. Make ahead is great! Pop in freezer, take out load on the Forman and presto it’s lunch in minutes!
make the most of wonderful seasonal produce using the pizza dough from Publix bakery– make a yummy summery tart. spread the dough out like a pizza and brush lightly with olive oil, finely chopped fresh garlic, very thinly sliced zucchini and summer squash layered over the entire tart. Top with goat cheese or fresh mozzarella, a shake of basil or slivered fresh basil, salt & pepper. Bake according to the dough directions and serve with a salad! Yum!!
I love buying hot cuban sandwiches for my family, it is our favorite sandwich from Publix…they are delicious! I have gotten several friends hooked!
They definitely have the best dough! We buy something from the bakery every week to send with our kids to their babysitter. Everyone deserves a treat!
Mmmm…potato rolls! Or most anything else is yummy π
I love to get the fresh Italian or French bread from the bakery and make chicken salad sandwiches with it. Of, course home made chicken salad if you have time, but if not the chicken salad from the Publix bakery is wonderful for a quick meal. My chicken salad is canned chicken, finely chopped parsley, red onion and celery. Lots of mayo and little heavy cream. It’s delicious, but you only need to eat it once in a while!
I love their sourdough bread bowls (when you can find them:) You have to buy the loaf and the cut the hole in it to make it a bowl. I love to make make white chicken chili and serve it in the bread bowls. AWESOME!!
I love Publix’s sourdough and pumpernickel bread. I buy it all the time when I’m making fondue for dinner, baby showers, or getting together with friends. It’s so yummy and you can’t beat fresh bread! I cut or tear it into small pieces and dip the bread in cheese fondue. I make the cheese fondue by mixing cheddar cheese with flour to lightly coat it. Then I pour Odooles into my fondue pot, let it boil and add dry mustard, garlic, worchester sauce, salt and pepper and then add the cheese. It’s to die for!!!
My kids love their cookies, especially when they can get a free one while I shop.
Buffalo chicken pizza – brown 1 inch cubes of 2-3 chicken breast in a skillet with a little olive oil and poultry seasoning. Turn off the heat and add Franks hot sauce to the pan, enough to make it saucy. Roll out the PUBLIX PIZZA DOUGH and spoon the chicken over the top. Cover with shredded mozzarella and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Sometimes we put garlic butter around the edges if we are feeling really naughty π Bake till the cheese is good and melty.
I love to get the ball of dough in the bakery and make a calzone! I flatten it out like a big pizza and in a bowl I mix ricotta cheese, some mozzarella cheese, fresh parmigiana cheese, one egg, fresh garlic, and Italian herb mix. When it’s mixed I put it on the dough then I top it with more mozzarella (you can mix in a few other cheeses if you like, the more cheese the better!). Then I fold the crust over to cover the inside. Bake at 350 til the dough starts to brown around the edges. Then I brush the top with butter and add a bit of garlic salt. Serve with a side of sauce! mmmmmm π
I love the breakfast bread. Slice it and toast it and spread cream cheese between the two slices. Serve with fresh seasonal fruit and a hot cup of coffee. It makes a GREAT breakfast!
I take Publix Croissants and cut a hole in them and add Kozyshack kosher pudding and put on top miracle whip cream and put a scoop of ice cream on the side. I also do other combinations. Like slice the croissants and place ham and cheese inside and spread some grey poupon mustard and warm them up in the oven.
I try to avoid the bakery….everything is too tempting….my son loves the breads and my husband loves the carrot cake…once in a while I look at the sugar free goodies. any left overs (bread) we make garlic toast or french toast.
Publix makes the best rye bread. Also their Carrot cake is great too.
Their deli wheat bread for French toast is nutritious and delicious. Kids end up eating nearly a whole loaf in one sitting!
Publix has the best cakes!!
I love the French Loaves at Publix! I use them to make Carne Asada sandwiches!
Thiny sliced flank steak marinated in olive oil, onions, garlic, and a little salt. I hollow out one side of the loaf and stuff it w/ the steak. Then top it w/ finely chopped onions, tomatoe, and cilantro mixed w/ a little bit of olive oil! It is sooo good!
Oh, and on my hubby’s I put a litlle bit of cheese too!
French toast with the Challah bread is a family favorite. A little milk, an egg, vanilla, and cinamon blended. Slice and dip the bread, then cook with a little butter in the pan. Quick, easy and delicious.
I always go for the dough! Love it for pizza and garlic rolls, as mentioned already. But I use it for dessert twists as well. Any shape will do! Knot it, twist it, braid it! The kids love to create their own shape! Then top with a combination of melted butter, cinnamon and sugar (honey, if you like) and bake as recommended, golden brown! If you like to dip your twists, mix 1/2 cup of room temp. cream cheese with 3 tbs. sugar (honey) and dip ahead! Fun to prepare and fun to eat! Win, Win!
I love their Apple turnovers and guava pastries!
I have to agree with you that the pizza dough is the best. Not only can you make pizza, but you can also make breadsticks and my personal favorite, pepperoni rolls.. Yum!
I love to buy their crossiants to use in a breakfast casserole. I slice the crossiants, and lay them flat in a baking dish. I saute green onions, diced deli ham, and mushrooms and layer it over top then sprinkle a layer of sharp cheddar. Next I place tomoato slices on the top. I then pour a mixture of eggs, salt, pepper, dijon mustard and milk over top. Bake it for about 30 – 40 mins. It is delicious!!!
I started doing a yummy, easy recipe that I call Stuffed BBQ Burger Loaf. Here is what you need:
1 French Bread Loaf from Publix Bakery
1lb. Lean Hamburger Meat
1 Cup BBQ Sauce
1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/2 Onion, Chopped & Sauteed
Brown the beef and mix in remaining ingredients. Cut loaf in half to open up and scoop out the breading. Spoon beef mix into the bread and wrap in aluminum foil. Bake @ 350 for 15-20 mins. Yummy!!!
I love to buy the rainbow bread at Publix. You can do so many things with it. Last year when my daughter’s pre k class was learning the letter P, I ordered a pink and purple swirl loaf and made Pink and Purple Peanut Butter sandwiches for the class. The kids love it when I order green for St. Patty’s Day or in the fall I make orange sandwiches and cut them out with my pumpkin cookie cutter. The possibilities with the bread are endless because they will make and color or ccombination of colors you want. This is by far my favorite Publix Bakery item.
Our family loves pizzas from fresh deli french bread loaves. With $1 off deli item coupon, cheap cheese, sale veggies, and mini pepperoni from my freezer stockpile, this makes for a very yummy and nearly free dinner!
I would have to say their Chocolate Ganache cake. It’s called something else, but it is A-MAZING! Oh, and pumpernickel bread.
I love there salsa….I make a dip with it.
I put one layer of refried beans, one layer of publix salsa and a layer of cheese…It makes the best dip for game day!!
I like to warm mine up a little in the oven before I serve!!
For a quick dessert idea to take somewhere and is always a hit-
Buy Publix Brownie Bites-
Buy Publix Frosting (chocolate, or a colored buttercream, dependant upon holiday or such)
Put frosting in ziploc bag, cut small hole in end- decorate top of brownie
w/ icing-
Use sprinkles to if you want!!!
i have to vote for their Cuban Bread!!! It brings me back memories from my childhood. It is amazing and brings me back memories from my childhood…
I have three favorites, one for lunch or dinner and one for breakfast.
First is a BBQ Chicken and Red Onion Pizza (similar to California Pizza Kitchen’s BBQ Pizza. Cook two chicken breasts (I keep it simple by pounding out the breasts so they cook evenly and pan cooking them in a little oil and water with the lid covered) then dice them into chuncks. Place in a bowl (and while warm) coat with Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce and toss to cover alll chill. Cook the Publix bakery pizza dough for 1/3 of the required time. While waiting for the dough take one medium red onion and slice it thinly, cut the slices in half (or smaller if preferred). Take the partially cooked pizza dough from the oven and use more Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce on the pizza (just as you would a tomato product). Cover generously with both shreaded cheese (I like to use a combo of mozzarella and mexican four cheese) them top with the red onion slices and chicken. You can sprinkle a little more cheese if you would like. Finish baking……ummmmmmmm delicious! The onions get soooo sweet.
Breakfast is best when you take an unsliced loaf of Publix English Muffin Bread and slice it thick for french toast. Dip the bread into a mixture of two eggs and 1/3 cup milk heavily laced with cinnamon. Preheat your griddle to medium them melt a small pat of butter on the griddle and wipe the excess off with a paper towel. Cook the bread on the griddle until golden brown on each side. Top with your favorite fruit and powdered sugar and/or syrup. This bread is the perfect platform.
Next is a twist on Eggs Benedict. Using Publix bakery english muffins as your platform, top with crispy pancetta (sliced a little thicker like salami before you fry it up so it does not crumble) then a soft poached egg, followed by Knorr Hollandiase sauce topped with cracked black pepper. The pancetta is a marvelous, slightly salty substitution to this traditional dish and plays so nicely off the english muffin platform.
I love using Publix’s pumpernickel bread loaves. I dig out the center and fill with my spinich dip. We use the bread I dig out to dip in the dip. It is a big hit no matter what type of party or get together I’m having.
i like publix cakes they r the bomb but my family really loves their fried chicken its the best all around. the store is always nice and clean that one big thing i like when i go in and they r nice to u
I love the pizza dough. I use the dough to make small individual cheese pizzas for the kids and calzones for us adults. Mix one box of frozen spinach, some shredded/pulled apart rotisseire chicken, italian seasoning, garlic powder (add to your liking), and cheese (I use what ever I have on hand). Spread the mixture on the 1/2 of the rolled out dough – pull over the other side and seal with a fork and bake! Yum!
For a special treat for dessert I will sometimes pick up a chocolate chip yo-yo!
Make foccacia bread from the pizza dough. Flatten the dough and then brush with olive oil. Top with parmesean cheese, coarse sea salt, cracked black pepper, crushed rosemary, Italiam seasoning, etc.-the possibilities are endless. Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Serve with a pasta dish or big salad or…..
I have two favs at the bakery. The Dutch Apple pie and the Chocolate Ganache Supreme cake. The apple pie is perfect for everyday dessert times. When we have an event, nothing dazzles like the ganache! The girls in the bakery do an awesome job, plus they always have a treat for my daughter when we stop by!
I think my favorite thing from the bakery is the free cookie for my children. It didn’t take long for my now 19month old to realize what big brother got and now that is where we must go first. Thankfully my boys are pretty good in the store anyway, but this is a great help. Just another thing Publix is so great for us moms.
The breakfast bread- toasted and spread with a little cream cheese and apricot jam! π
My favorite is the free cookie for my daughter, we pull into the parking lot and she starts asking for it! Its pretty cute! But, if it is for me I really like thier French Hamburg Rolls for sandwhiches, pulled pork sandwhiches, and Hamburgers! I did try their pizza dough for hte first time last week and I must say that was my favortie homemade pizza!
The 7 grain bread is so great. Even my kids love it!
I always get some cuban bread
My daughter’s 17th birthday is coming up real soon. Would love to get her a cake from Publix.
We love Publix Wheat Bagels. I use peanut butter on mine, my husband uses Publix cream cheese on his.
Red Velvet Cake!!!!! Southern girls have red velvet cake in the veins!!!
I love their Italian sandwich bread sliced. We have it for dinner (my DH is Italian so we always have to have bread with dinner) and then when the last few slices are getting a little old I make croutons out of them. Just cut the bread into pieces and bake in my toaster oven for a few minutes, then heat up a pan with some olive oil and butter, throw the cubes in there and toss them around a bit. After they are nice and crispy I put some garlic powder and a little parmesan cheese in and let them cool. They are delicious and I never throw out any bread.
I buy the water rolls or potato rolls, add a little deli turkey, mayo and tomato and have great sandwiches for lunchboxes.
Beef on Weck – I buy the Kimmelwick rolls fresh in the bakery – they are to die for and that little bit of salt and caraway seed that they back into the top of the bun just makes the sandwich wonderful – we take roast beef from the deli – put it into beef broth with some italian seasonings – let sit and heat up – put on the bun (Dip into broth!) – add some cheese of your liking and pepperoncinis – YUM!!! can live get any better than that!
Their salsa is my fav.My mexican casserole goes like this. 1 lb gr. chuck, one container salsa,1can nibblet corn drained, mix thoroughly.Bake at 350 in a deep casserole dish for 45min.In another bowl mix 2 small pkg cornbread mix add to top of meat mixture and cook around 35 min or till cornbread is golden brown. Serve with a side of black or pinto beans Mmmm
I love their white mountain bread! It makes killer BLT sandwiches.
Anything sweet!!
Publix French bread…..this is the easiest and yummiest – Baked French Toast
ever!!! I am not sure where the recipe came from originally but let me tell you it is amazing!
Makes 12 servings.
1 (1 pound) loaf French bread, cut diagonally in 1 inch slices
8 eggs
2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup butter
1 1/3 cups brown sugar
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
Directions
1 Butter a 9×13 inch baking dish. Arrange the slices of
bread in the bottom. In a large bowl, beat together eggs,
milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread slices,
cover, and refrigerate overnight.
2 The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175
degrees C). In a small saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar
and corn syrup; heat until bubbling. Pour over bread and
egg mixture.
3 Bake in preheated oven, uncovered, for 40 minutes.
The pizza dough is amazing!
Their French Bread makes outstanding Roasted Vegetable Sandwiches!
Favorite thing in the bakery is the Napoleons…oh how decedent!
I love their fresh bread. We make our own herb butter, and then throw it on the grill!
One of the easiest and yummiest desserts or breakfasts we like to have as a family is called Pizza Fritte (Italian). My husband’s mom has been making this since he was a kid. It is fried dough dipped in sugar. Awesome with coffee. My twist on this is I get the dough from the bakery π Pick up some pizza dough, get some hot oil going and just cut up the dough into 1 inch pieces and fry till puffed and brown. Just a couple min each side. Use sugar or cinnamon and sugar in a bowl to dip til you are all sugared up!
PICK ME PICK ME
Best ever homemade stromboli using the Publix bread dough that they already have packaged up for you in the bakery. It saves so much time and it’s the best. Fill it with whatever you want…sausage, lots of cheese, pepperoni. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it!
I made the most wonderful sandwiches this weekend using the whole wheat Kaiser rolls from the Publix bakery. They are so nice and light. I started with frying 6 strips of bacon (set aside) Then I sauted two crab cakes (which were BOGO this week), sliced up a tomato, added lettuce & bacon and topped it off with the Boars Head Cajun sauce you find in the deli. Had some fries on the side…..they were terrific! We munched out!
There isn’t anything in the bakery I don’t like! We made philly cheese steaks with the sub bread. Add some already made side dishes for a quick dinner. There pizza crust is wonderful. We bake it and then take it out and put olive oil on it and then gill it in a pan then add yummy toppings like garlic and olives and spinach put some fresh mozzarella on top place it back in the oven until cheese is bubbly!! So good!
Calazones from the pizza dough is awesome
One of my favorite bakery menu items is a simple grilled cheese sandwich made with the Publix Asiago Bread (sliced by the great folks in the Bakery, of course)and Fontina Cheese. Maybe not as budget friendly as plain bread and American cheese slices……but a luxury I can indulge in because of the money I save with I Heart Publix!
The roles. My husband makes a big pot of homemade spaghetti sauce with meatballs. We had spaghetti and meatballs last night. Tonight we will have a meatball subs on Publix rolls. We will freeze the leftover sauce and make a baked ziti later in the week.
My favorite bakery item recipe is using the end of a baguette as a kind of pocket-sandwich. I hollow it out a little with my finger, insert a few slices or nubs of a nice cheese (still using the free Athenos feta at present), some spinach, and chunks of turkey or pork, and pop it in the toaster oven for a minute until the cheese is melted, the greens are wilted, and the meat is hot. Easy and wonderful!
Birthday Cake!! =)
I like the fajita wraps
We use them for so many things. If we are on the run for the day we make P&J roll up sandwiches — no crumbs from bread for eating in the car.
Breakfast Quesadillas are yummy — bacon, eggs, cheese on a fajita wrap. Fry each side — done — very quick
Cannolis for sure. Not really for dinner, but soooo-o yummy!
We love the pecan sweetie rolls my husband makes from the Publix PIZZA dough!! He adds lots of butter, brown sugar, splenda, cinnamon and pecans to the rolled-out pizza dough. Then he rolls it, slices it and bakes it. Yummy!
Most all of my recipes foods come from Publix. The one on my mind now it a new plate I took. I use Al Fresco sun dried tomato chicken sausage, portabello mushrooms and stir fry them in olive oil until one. I then coat the entire mixture with Alessi Pesto sauce. I lightly boil Buitoni tortellini and then drain and add those in an stir fry just to heat and mix mixture of food. This dinner is topped of with some really fresh grated Parmesan cheese. It’s even better with a good side of bread!
Enjoy,
BEth
My girls love bagels. After eating bagels every morning for weeks I started trying new things to spice it up. I love to take a bagel (everything are my favorite) and lightly toast it then put a very little cream cheese on each side and ham and swiss cheese and brown it. Makes a very tasty sandwich great for on the run. My girls like to take Peanut butter on one half and marshmellow cream on the other and drizzle it with chocolate syrup. Its like a smore for breakfast. lol. Would Love to win this giveaway.
Spinach dip using sourdough rounds is awesome. I always call my MIL for the recipe. π
cinnamon pecan rolls – no prep necessary – just gobble up
I have to agree with April that the BBQ chicken pizza is phenomenal. It was the featured dish a while back at my Publix and I wanted to ask the nice lady working the booth if I could eat all the samples.
Also, the dough can be used for calzones (not sure if anyone already said that). Just hop over to the produce section and grab some fresh veggies (peppers and mushrooms for me) and hit the dough up on your way out. Then you basically make a pizza but, of course, fold it over on itself.
Another thing to do is to take the specialty treats, like the chocolate covered strawberries, petit fours, etc., and use them for cake decorating. If you’re in a pinch, making these things can be very time consuming, so you just go by the Publix bakery, pick up a few fancy cake toppings, place them nicely on a homemade or bought plain cake, and viola….it looks like you’ve spent hours in the kitchen.
I know this is long, but I’ve got one more! I love the English muffin bread. If you haven’t tried it, you need to. It’s perfection. Anywho, I have an idea for it that I haven’t actually tried yet. But you either get it sliced thin or buy it that way. Toast a slice and place some of your breakfast favs on top. For example, bacon, Canadian bacon, peppers….whatever you want. Then top that with a cooked egg (sunny side up, over easy, fried, etc.) and sprinkle with cheese. Like I said I haven’t tried it, but I want to. Something about English muffins and eggs seems right to me. I would do bread, Canadian bacon, maybe green bell pepper, fried egg, no cheese.
I just love their muffins and the cakes taste so good and i love the sourdough bread. It is so good!!
Thanks!
I am a dessert gal. I buy their Angel Food cake.
I get out my trifle dish and make layers of Fresh Strawberries, vanilla pudding and the Angel food cake torn into bite size peices and toppied off with some cool whip.
YummY!!! A family favorite in my house!!
My favorite thing to buy at the Publix bakery is the Challah bread!!! We buy it when it is on sale and use it for some awesome french toast!!!
I love the donuts…awesome! We also love the cupcakes and apple pie. Thanks!
I make a raviolli dish with the fresh, long baguette bread (can’t remember it’s proper name). After you make the raviolli and add the sauce and various veggies you like, you put it all into a corningware dish. Cut the fresh bread and coat it with melted butter (with garlic powder added) and arrange tbe bread around the dish in a circle. Then cover with cheese and pop it in the oven until the bread toasts and the cheese melts. YUM!
love bakery
I have to agree with you we make pizza with there dough once a week my kids help. When they help they like to look trough the fridge and get creative we usually have lots of veggies left over form other meals that the pile on. so my vote is to stock up on piZza dough you can freeze it and take it out later.
I have to say that the best thing that I have tried from Publix bakery is the APPLE FLIPS they r AWSOME.
This recipe uses one of my all-time favorites… French bread! It’s called “Open-Faced Southwestern Chicken Sandwich”. You will need:
4 skinned & boned chicken breast halves
2 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. ground red pepper
1 garlic clove, minced
1 cup shredded Mexican four-blend cheese
1/3 cup mayo
4 French bread slices, lightly toasted
Black bean salsa
Place chicken between 2 sheets of heavy-duty plastic wrap, and flatten to 1/2-inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin. Stir together cilantro, oil, chili powder, pepper, and garlic. Spread on chicken. Grill, covered with grill lid, over medium-high heat (350-400 degrees) 8-10 minutes on each side or until chicken is done. Meanwhile, stir together cheese and mayo. Spread on bread slices. Place bread, cheese mixture side up, on a baking sheet. Broil 6 inches from heat 1-2 minutes or until cheese melts. Place chicken on bread, and serve with black bean salsa. Makes 4 servings.
love their 5 grain french bread…mmmmmm
Love the bakery. Its the only place my husband will buy a cake from.
Love the black n white cookies and the turnovers! =)
I enjoy their Cuban bread…great with some steak and lobster!
A zero no-brainer is using their pizza dough (buy when it’s on sale and freeze). And making pizza sauce is simple with some tomato puree garlic & herbs with water to thin as needed. We save so much money doing this . I actually now make my own dough…super duper easy!!! But if I’m in a pinch, I buy the Publix goods!
I LOVE to buy their harvest grain bread and serve with any dinner along with a small bowl of olive oil and dipping seasonings. You can get all three of these items in the bakery.
warm apple turnovers with ice cream! yum!
I get the pizza dough!! I just made Calzones with turkey sausage, peppers and onions. Dipped in marinara sauce. YUMMY
We love the raisin challah from the Publix bakery! We break our Yom Kippur Fast every year with it, something sweet to start out the new year!
We also love the pizza dough! I make a yummy pizza with all the toppings for me and the kids, but Hubby has an intolerance for milk, so he gets his own custome calzone. He loves lots of fresh veggies and ham and pepperoni and sausage, some simple marinara and fresh crushed garlic on top. It is so delicious, sometimes I eat that instead of the pizza!
Fresh baked Multigrain bread thin sliced from the bakery with Everoast chicken is the best meal ever!
It’s fibbing a little, but we like to get their cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing and remove the paper so that we can claim they are homemade…people think we are baking superstars! π
i love their sour cream donuts
Well since I have two small children and TRY my best to keep up with couponing (with two kids in tow, uuugh) I would not make it without their cookies and cupcakes! It sometimes gets expensive but I always bribe my kids (yes, I said bribe, lol) with a cookie or cupcake IF they can manage to behave so mommy can focus on couponing while we are in there. I have to say it’s worked every single time except one. That day was a bad day at my house…everyone went to bed early (even dear ol mom).
As far as meal ideas go, I’m not much of a cook but I do bake and make cupcakes sometimes with the kids. Here’s a cupcake recipe:

Thank you for all that you do! You help me save so much $$$$ each week!
I love to get their fresh bagels and let the kids make pizza bagels. I will have to try their pizza dough since everyone seems to love it:)
i ususally get their cookies in the bakery, buy some pillsbury can frosting and make smiley faces to cheer my kids up.
They have great cinnamon rolls!
I love Publix! Anything and everything from their Bakery & Deli. Every now and then, I give myself a “night off” from cooking dinner. (Ok, I hate cooking. Sshhh!) My FAVORITE Meal IDEA…visit Publix.

RELAX & Enjoy! Yum!
The free cookies rock! My kids call Publix the chocolate chip cookie store.
Publix DONUTS!!!!!!!!
Multigrain bread. While you are at it get Bacon Peppercorn Rotisserie Chicken from the deli. Publix Deli Family Combo Meal is $9.99 with start of the new ad. Have that meal and use the left over chicken for a delicious chicken salad sandwich.
Mix chicken, mayo, mustard, relish. Sprinkle with paprika and dash of pepper. That’s my basic use what I always have recipe. Add other ingredients to suite your taste but the Bacon Peppercorn is enough. Place on fresh crisp lettuce and Publix Multigrain bread. Simple pleasure.
donuts! yum yum! the chocolate icing ones are my favorite!
I love Publix too. I recently had a tea party with the girls. We had a lot of fresh baked goodies from the Publix bakery department. It made planning the event a breeze, giving me more time with the girls.
We served sweet bread, danish and crème puffs from the bakery. I also made a those cute little cucumber sandwiches. My party was a hit.
Strawberry cake!
Love the cookies!! From the Deli Bacon Peppercorn rotisserie chicken!
I make a giant Pizza Roll with the pizza dough from Publix bakery. Roll out the dough to the size of a big rectangular cookie sheet. Fill the dough with all your favorite toppings. I like veggies, cheese, and cooked ground turkey crumbles. DO NOT ADD SAUCE!! Roll up the dough like a jelly roll. Place on baking pan, let it rise, and then bake at 375 for about 20-30 minutesa. Oven may vary so keep an eye on it the first time you bake one. When the Pizza Bread is done. Cut into slices (they look like pinwheels), and serve with a small dish of pizza or spaghetti sauce for dipping. A salad will complete your meal! YUMMY and very kid friendly!
Take a lovely loaf bread (the garlic tuscan you like will do nicely) and slice it in half. Open so that you have a top and bottom. Spread the bottom half with an olive tapanade (you can make your own by copping black or green olives with a bit of olive oil- not too much- in a food processor until just before it becomes a paste – still should see that it is chopped olives) spread the top half with a pesto (again you can buy it or make it – if you have a huge basil bush this is a great thing to make before the cold gets it! – you can freeze it too!) next layer your favorite sandwich meats on the bottom – ham if you want to keep it simple or something like prochuitto (yeah I can’t spell) if you want to get fancy. a mixture is nice – salami or something a bit spicy is always good. next layer some roasted peppers and sliced red or vidalia onion. squish on the top – wrap it tight in saran wrap and let it sit the the fridge overnight or for a few hours. Perfect to take on a picnic or tailgating – just slice it up for the group.
I like every thing about publix……
I love the publix birthday cakes. They are so yummy! I could start eating one right now and it’s not anybody’s birthday in my family!
Where to start – the pizza dough is great – the loaves are awesome – so many to choose from too – baguettes to cuban bread – yummy sandwiches – oh and i always go ahead and get a cake for my boys birthdays – that icing rocks!
I love the pizza dough from publix. I pull apart into balls of dough and deep fry it. I then dip them into melted chocolate and caramel…. ummmm
BBQ Chicken Pizza
Publix pizza dough
1 tub of Lloyds bbq chicken
red onion
cheddar cheese
Sautee onion in frying pan. Roll out dough. Pile on the bbq chicken. Put onion on top. And top w/ cheddar cheese. Super easy and I always have a stockpile of the Lloyds bbq meat!
Their wedding cakes are delicious and very reasonably priced.
I love sweet pizzas. We went to CiCi’s the other night and I ate a slice of their apple crumb pizza and thought to myself, “I can make this at home. Better.” Saturday afternoons are usually lazy afternoons and I find myself gravitating to the kitchen to bake. My aspiration today was to create an Apple Dessert Pizza that could stand up to CiCi’s or Pizza Hut’s any day. I think I succeeded.
Apple Dessert Pizza
Donald’s & Sarah’s rating:

Finish the pizza:
1. Remove the pizza from the oven after 10-15 minutes and let stand for 5 minutes.
2. Drizzle the sugar glaze over the entire pizza and let stand for an additional 5 minutes.
I hope you enjoy the pizza!
My family love the Publix Breakfast Bread. I love to use it to make the “best French Toast in the world” as my 8 and 5 year old call it. It is so simple. I even have Publix cut the bread for me. I use eggs, milk and cinnamon, just like I would for regular french toast. I cook on my griddle with non-stick spray (or you could use butter) and top with warm maple syrup. The dried fruit and nuts in the bread make it a hearty meal for my hungry clan and an easy one for me to fix on a Saturday morning or for a quick breakfast-for-dinner.
Love the birthday cakes …hubby has one coming up
There almond fruit cake there is delicious I buy it every birthday occasion!!!

I too love the Publix bakery, I like the Deli breads behind the counter as well as the Chicago Italian unsliced loaf.
Being European I hate anything sweet flavoured when it comes to regular bread. The one thing I wished they had though was crusty bread, I miss that from back home, nothing matches at all I have tried them all :+(
Apple Flips also = yum. Think I am going to pick upsome dough next trip.
