I can always tell it is fall when I wake up to find that the temperature is not already 90 degrees 🙂 I love that little bit of coolness in the air. While we may not get the big bad winters that the folks up north see, it can still get mighty chilly here!
This is when I start thinking about soups and other great comfort foods. My crockpot usually gets quite a workout during this time!
Amanda over at A Few Short Cuts has come up with a great recipe that is perfect for this time of the year: Creamed Chicken & Biscuits.
This is a super simple recipe. Throw your chicken in the crockpot in the morning then the rest can be done in maybe 20-30 minutes! Sounds like a winner to me!
I bet most of you could make this from your stockpile!!
I got a magazine yesterday with pumpkins and fall leaves on it…and i totally started dreaming of cool weather: i call it “our” part of the year, this is not weather the tourists will probably expect, but it helps me get through that dreadful summer heat..i can totally tell its coming:)) soups, baking and sweaters might be here soon!!(okay, a very light sweater, and only at night, but still)
I totally agree! I live in northern AL and put on a light jacket yesterday morning, just for the fun of it! Can’t wait for the cooler temps and some homemade soup/stew!
OH! I am SO trying this recipe! Creamed chicken & biscuits is one of my top three favourites of all time! Thanks ever so for sharing it!
Being a deeply-rooted FL cracker, I didn’t even own a coat till we moved the the Big Bend. I’m not big on winter, but I do love autumn! We’ve even opened our windows the past few nights! Aaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!
I was raised on this! We add mashed potatoes too.
Looks Yummy!!! since the weather is finally starting to cool down here I’ve been thinking about Cheesy Potato Soup and Bread bowls… I LOVE fall food, something about it really is SO comforting!!
