This has been a wild and crazy week!! Not only was my husband home all week, we also had tons of errands, doctors appointments, soccer practice, teachers meet & greet, and various workers in and out of the house this week. Seriously, I felt like each day was a three ring circus!! I told my husband that if at all possible, I want to stay home all day tomorrow! I just need a day to regroup, organize and if possible– relax a bit!!
I will be honest guys, I spent a lot of moolah this week! Since my husband was home, I was able to go to the grocery store solo!! That is a rare occurance in my world and I think I actually spent more money without the boys in tow. Usually I am working hard to get the things on my list and get out before any major meltdowns can occur. This week I was able to look around a bit and the impulse shopping starting happening. I found myself picking up things not on my list!!
This week I spent $93.57 for my groceries. While I am not thrilled with my total, I am OK with it!! I work very hard to save money each week that every once in a while I think it is not a big deal to just shop! I have a variety of meat in my freezer and could have easily made meals with it rather than spend $40 on the meats that I bought this week. My husband chose the menu this week and so I bought the stuff I needed! I might have paid a little more than if I had purchased it during a sale…but, oh well 😀 This is the exact reason that I have a budget. It allows me the flexibility to spend more when I need it and I know everything should even out by the end of the year! While it is not a fabulous week, I did manage to save 48% this week and I still think that is a pretty good week!

How did you all do this week? Leave a comment or link to your weekly totals.
I completely agree with your philosophy. Even when you spend big, you still spend a lot less than most of us! Thank you for your fantastic blog, I know you put a lot of hard work into it, and I sooooo appreciate all the help.
I have weeks where I spend almost nothing, and other weeks where I splurge on special items that everyone in the family like.
This week I got Laughing Cow Cheese for my four-year-old, my soon-to-be 8-year-old son got his favorite for his birthday dinner…steak! My husband and the baby loves their grapes, and I therefore spent a little extra on grapes. For myself…pita chips! I have a lot of hummus, but I am missing the pita chips to go with them.
I wanted to leave room in my weekly budget for the b day cake though, as that is my real treat this week, and there is no way that I’ll bake it myself.
Michelle – I am SO glad to see your totals this week because I was not so pleased with my $90 I spent today at Publix & my 49% savings! I have to laugh because our list has numerous similarities and my husband is behind that! I was buying special requests for him, otherwise I wouldn’t have been paying full price for those wings! I was feeling a little ugh because I blew so much of my budget on the 3rd day of the month but you have made me feel better about it! 🙂
Got $255 of groceries for $105. That even included 2 packs of Pampers, 1 pack of Pampers wipes (for baby gifts) and 4 toothbrushes (B1G1 Oral-B). Not my best. But not bad for buying some gifts!
I got $97.00 worth for $31.11. Not too bad.
I have been out of town all week so when I got home I had to purchase a lot of items not on sale. I still managed to save 57% this week. That is my lowest savings in months but considering everything I bought I did good! The awesome cashier even congratulated me on doing so well.
I spent $9.25 for $135.95 worth of groceries, saved $126.70 = 93%
WOW! Great job!
Holy cow, you’re my hero! lol
I think it’s funny how we all seem to think that we spent so much money when we still saved more than everyone else in line with us!
I love that mentality of saving 50% and thinking “I can do better than that!!!!”
Me too, I keep track and try to ‘beat’ my last weeks total. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t – but I always try. It’s like a fun game I play, except its one that makes our lifestyle better!
