Yet another week has passed and my awesome can organizer still sits in the box! I am determined to get that baby put together. I always have good intentions but some how I just can’t get everything accomplished as I expect! One of my major goals this weekend is to get organized. I need to file some inserts and go through my binder and pull the expired coupons. While it will take a little time –in the grand scheme of things I will be better off 🙂
This week has been just crazy. I have really been stretched thin this week and I will be honest I am so glad that this week is over!! I have a tendency to put way too much on my plate and it caught up with me a bit this week. I did get a chance to pop by Publix on Monday while the boys were in school. I ended up spending $64.25 but I brought home a TON of groceries!! I got 17 packages of cheese, 15 half gallons of milk, 3 weeks worth of eggs, and veggies for the week. I also could not pass up getting cheap ground beef thanks to the Hamburger Helper! We don’t eat the Hamburger Helper so that will get added to my donation box 🙂
So I spent $64.25 for almost $200 worth of groceries. That means I saved 69% this week. Since I have milk, cheese and eggs to last for weeks I would call that a great trip!!
How did you do this week? Leave a comment or link to your weekly totals!
Cool! This is exactly like the spreadsheet i do everyweek minus the “coupon details column! lol
Great job! Do you freeze the milk? I tried to freeze it last time the Smart Balance was super cheap. However it was terrible to thaw and ended up more as icy chunks even after days in the fridge. Any tips?
Thanks! I was gonna ask the same question!
Once you put it in the fridge make sure to shake it often. They thawed out completely for me w/ no ice after 2 days in the fridge. You can also run cold water over the container but I have never tried that w/ the cardboard containers.
Honestly the 15 cartons just will go in my fridge…that is only 7 1/2 gallons. Smart Balance has a VERY long expiration date (I think mine is the end of November) so we should use it before it expires! I am hoping I will not have to buy milk until December…we shall see!!
I spent $14.38 for $121.26 worth of groceries, saved $106.88 = 88%
I tell you, thought it was funny that you dont eat HH. We do, but if you want to put a spin on it, use 1/4 sliced steak in it instead of hamburger. I have done that with the Philly cheese-steak one and it is great. I also use chicken breast in a couple of the other ones, one of them being the Tuna (?) version.
Got $225 of food for $75.
Isaved $106 this week. Ok, I still spent $150, but I did have alot of cleaning products so…
You have two columns without a heading. What are they a savings of?
First column with no heading looks like the total price (quantity times price of one item). The second column looks like the total price paid for each item (price minus the coupon). HTH
Jodie
Yep–it is jus the math! THanks Jodie!!
I did the same exact thing with the Smart Balance milk which is great b/c my kids will have plenty of milk in the fridge & so much is happening in my life right now shopping isn’t a priority.
I spent 80.31 for $174.68 worth of groceries. A savings of 54%. BUT, I bought the Brita Filter refill that I needed which was $12.99 right there WITH the coupon that I used.
