The holidays are the time for comfort food… the sort that warms you from the inside!

At my house, meatballs are super high on the list of comfort food faves. They’re delicious, obviously… but also super versatile in a variety of dishes. You can’t go wrong with the classics like spaghetti & meatballs or a nice, fat meatball sub, but I like to get a little more creative this time of year, especially when I have guests over.

Take this Meatball Pull-Apart Wreath, for example. It’s the perfect way to take Italian night to the next level. It’s a tasty dish that will shake up your typical weeknight meal with it’s festive flair. And it offers such visual appeal when offered as an appetizer at a holiday gathering. Heck, I bet it would be a welcome addition to any game day menu for a sure-fire win with your superfans. No matter when you serve it, don’t be surprised when everyone goes back for seconds… especially when you pair it with plenty of Bertolli Pasta Sauce for dipping.

Serves: 25
Ingredients
  • 2 packages of refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 jar Bertolli Red Sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 25 pre-cooked meatballs (defrosted, if frozen)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • cherry tomatoes, grated parmesan and fresh rosemary for garnish
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400º F.
  2. Place a 3″ – 2.5″ oven-safe bowl or ramekin in the middle of a pizza pan and set aside.
  3. Roll out the pizza dough and cut the dough into 25 squares (approx 3’x3″ in size)
  4. Add about 2 teaspoons of Bertolli sauce in the middle of the dough square, top with a meatball and sprinkle with about 1/2 tablespoon of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  5. Pull the dough around the filling and pinch to completely seal the filling inside the dough.
  6. Place the filled dough balls seam-side down and side-by-side in a circle around the bowl/ramekin.
  7. Add a second ring of dough balls around the first, making sure that the filled dough balls are touching to create a double layered wreath.
  8. Brush the top with olive oil and sprinkle with the Italian Seasoning.
  9. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
  10. Sprinkle with grated parmesan and decorate with cherry tomatoes and rosemary.
  11. Serve with additional Bertolli Sauce for dipping.

I’ve said it before, but when it comes to jarred pasta sauces, you just can’t beat Bertolli. Unlike some other brands, Bertolli’s sauces are made in the true Tuscan tradition. That means starting with premium-quality staples of Italian cooking like roasted garlic, aged parmesan, and vine-ripened tomatoes, then sauteeing them lightly in olive oil to lock in the authentic Tuscan flavors that have been customer favorites for over 150 years.

Another thing to love about Bertolli? The price. Sure, you could buy a pricier pasta sauce with a fancier label, but why would you when you can mix or match two or even three Bertolli sauces for the same price as one of those “artisan” style sauces?

And right now that low price is even better thanks the the digital coupon. Clip the coupon and score an additional $1 off in savings when you shop at Publix.
