I get lots of emails from new couponers whenever I post about stockpiling. I think the term can be misleading or at least create odd images in your head of bunkers filled with canned goods 🙂
Stockpiling is actually the best way to save money!! My friend Christie over at Big Fat Piggy Bank did an awesome video clip explaining the benefit of stockpiling. Go check it out HERE!
Great job Christie–thanks for letting me share with my readers!
Wow, I didn’t get anything out of that video.
Me neither!
I always love using coupons to fill up my pantry. I love having a fully stocked pantry. This way there may be a time where money is tight and I just need to buy basics since I’ll have a full pantry. It comes in handy.
This is so great! I just did a post about stockpiling yesterday. We use our garage because we don’t have alot of space. She did a great job! Thanks for sharing!
I think maybe the point of posting the video was to show newbies there is a method to the madness not that we are looney people who think the world is coming to an end tomorrow..kwim.. lol.
I thought it was great! My MIL doesn’t get the whole stockpile thing. I’m going to have her watch this video. Thanks for posting!
The video was brief, but the premise was there. If you can get something cheap, buy it up so that you’ll be able to get by until the next sales cycle without having to pay full price. Like Tabby said, when your pantry is stocked up with pasta, rice, beans, canned fruit/veg, boxed side dishes, etc. and your freezer is stocked with meat, you really only need to buy dairy products and any super sale items every week. It only took me a few months to get a stocked pantry in place, but once you’ve got one is easy to maintain and you rarely have to pay full price for anything.
The perfect example is coming up in the next Publix ad on Mueller’s pasta. The printable coupon does not have a print limit, so you can use as many as you like. After B1G1F and coupons you are paying .15c per box for pasta instead of $1.39. It’s a nonperishable staple, which is perfect for stockpiling.
I totally got it because I do it myself. My garage DOES look like a crazy person lives here. Seriously, I have enough TP and Papertowels and Purex and Dryer sheets and CVS water that I could take care of my whole neighborhood for three days if a hurricane hit. My friends have just started doing this coupon thing and they still only buy 4 boxes of cereal when it’s on sale. I buy the coupons off ebay and buy 20. Why??? Because when my friends run out of their first four – I have 16 left and they are still well in date. Stockpiling is the only way to go. It has revolutionized my life and when buy our new house in a few months, the garage design will be a major factor.
If it wasn’t for stockpiling I don’t know how my family would have made it these past few months. I totally got it too and I wish my closet was as organized as the one in the video! Thank you for putting it up.
