My buddy Crazy Coupon Carol emailed me a deal that she found that is pretty great for all of you who shell out the massive bucks for baby formula each month. We never did formula so I had no idea of the cost until I read Carol’s post. She said a month supply for her son is almost $210–OH MY GOODNESS!! That is more than I spend on groceries in a month!

Thank God I dont have to buy formula either, I have been blessed my daughter is a great nurser. and we have had lots of fun breastfeeding…
julie…..my senitiments exactly!although it has been sometime since i was nursing……i am blessed that i was able to do so, especially looking at the cost of formula….i had NO idea!
Oh my. Praise the Lord for “homemade milk”. Wow.
Ditto. My first born nursed but my twins were not very good at it. So multiply that dollar number by two! Anyone that has a baby or is expecting should contact the baby companies for coupons and gifts. Even Barnum & Baily circus gives free tickets for each child before they turn one but it never expires and you can save it for use when they will appreciate it.
Just so you all know, you can also use the manufacturer checks that the formula companies send in addition to manufacturer coupons and store coupons!
I am so grateful I get the chance to share my expirence with mothers who are on wic. I just got offered a job with wic, being a breastfeeding lady.. I never knew breastfeeding could be so wonderful,, My daughter Little D who is my last is also the one who I am BFing the longest..out of 3… most folks are not knowledgeable about it and dont know that wic will give you a $275.00 Medela dual breast pump for FREE!!!!! its a great pump…Homemade is always better of anything lol

When my daughter was born 2 years ago I was taking 40 supplements A DAY between my massive doses of fenugreek, prenatal vitamins, iron, extra vitamin D for a severe deficiency I had, extra calcium, extra ADEK in a water soluble format (I had a gastric bypass), vitamin B complex, blessed thistle, goats rue, brewers yeast tablets, I was eating tons of oatmeal, lactation cookies, drinking 2 gallons of water a day, eating the correct # of calories per day and I was pumping a ridiculous amount, using an SNS when she did get formula and YET STILL when we went to the LC in 20 minutes I only produced a tablespoon of milk. each side.
My daughter lost from 7 lbs 12 oz to 6 lbs 5 oz and then took six weeks to regain her birth weight.
My son was born last March. He weighed in at 8lbs 6.5 oz. He lost down to 7lbs 3 oz and had similar problems. But this time my supply was even lower.
My doctors prescribed me Reglan each time and each time i had a similar lack of production.
I have PCOS and 5% of women with PCOS have prolactin problems where they cannot produce enough Breastmilk. This would be my problem 🙁 🙁 🙁
My goodness! There is an incredible amount of pressure put on mums to breast feed. While breastfeeding is more frugal 😛 I see no difference between my children who have been exclusively breastfed, supplemented, or completely formula fed (I have 4). Don’t be so hard on yourselves formula feeding mums! And don’t be so hard on them breast feeding mums! You are BOTH doing what’s best for your babies! They are all going to turn out fine! 😛

Have you looked at http://milkshare.birthingforlife.com/ – I have donated on there in the past – you can meet people in your area to get breastmilk from other moms. It’s a great resource!

For all of you who need cheap formula check craig’s list. I found checks coupons and even cans themselves. I bought 10 12oz powder goodstart for fifty bucks. I have not had to buy retail formula in the a
three months since I had to give up nursing. I even found cans on clearance in sweetbay for $3. I bought every one in sight. Also call the company
when I did they sent me two $6 coupons.
Thank you Kelly for your sentiments… Reading posts about breastfeeding is best sometimes makes moms who formula feed feel like they are being criticized. I breastfed my daughter for 3 months and now she is on formula and doing great 🙂 I just went to my Publix but none of the Goodstart cans had peelies…oh well. $5 off is better than nothing!
